Good time-waster.
Just started playing this game for the first time in a few years, love this game, not a whole lot to it, but stil a fun does exatctly what it says on the box sort of game. Really does feel big and infinite like a space game should, Wish this game had more attention than it does.
I picked this up on a whim, and don't regret it for a minute. I have no idea what (if anything) the end game of Space is, but when everything is so much fun, it hardly matters. Every time you load the game, you are given a new world to play in, but you keep everything else. It's sort of like every play session is a New Game+, with a brand new galaxy to explore. One of the most clever mechanics is the scalable difficulty. When your weapons and stats get to a certain threshold of power, the game suggests you pay a little cash to increase the challenge. This not only give better monetary rewards for everything, but starts to spawn newer, tougher enemies and mini-events. I'm guessing that there's something cool that happens when you hit a certain difficulty level, but even if not, just the joy of playing is enough. The final two things that I really like about the game are the controls and the weapon system. The controls are notable in having the ability to switch on the fly between two methods: Asteroids-style thrust and turning, and Twin-Stick-style directional control . Both use WASD, and you switch with the space bar. The thruster mode is way faster, and good for covering distance quickly, while the direction mode give you better handling at the cost of top speed. It's a brilliant system for this style of game, and I wish more top-down space shooters incorporate it. The weapon system is fairly simple, but also give you a ton of options. Each weapon has three unlockable slots and two firing modes, and the heaps of upgrades you can purchase let you make some really cool attacks. One of the most fun is a V-shaped twin laser that freezes objects and arcs plasma to anything around the beams, but there are dozens of ways to build your weapons. The only issue I have encountered is that sometimes multiple projectiles on screen halves my framerate, and that seems to be a common problem with other users. But honestly, the game is so good I don't really care. Seriously, buy this, it's amazing, and for $2.99? Much more satisfying than anything else you can get for that price.
Steuerung ist eine Katastrophe! Gamepad wird nicht unterstützt-schwach!
amazing little space game. its very retro, but also modern. there's clearly been a lot of effort and work put into the game. there were many little surprises (in terms of gameplay mechanics, game engine features, easter eggs, bits of content) that i encountered within my first hour of gameplay. i imagine there's more in store for me. excellent buy at full or sale price.
Настоящий шедевр: открытый мир, квесты, разнообразное комбинируемое оружие и внезапные враги. Правда, через несколько часов при открытой карте начинает заметно подтормаживать, но это не беда. 9 паззлов из 10
Pretty fun, the fact that you have to figure out a lot of stuff by yourself can be a perk or minus depending on how you like to play. Large variety in weapon upgrades. Note: the basics are explained by the tip system it's just the question you have later that must be figured out.
Beautiful little game. Like many others, I went in not quite knowing what to expect, and before I knew it, 3 hours had passed. Simple, fun, and addictive. Tip: upgrade the default weapon to the beam asap to get over the initial hump.
