Sonic Adventure DX

this game is special to me, this was the very first sonic game i ever played back when i was either five or six, i got it on the PS3. i never beat it before but i still remember lots about this game. And now i'm seventeen and almost graduating from high school and playing it once again, and i admit that this game is jank as all hell, and yet i still love it, this is without a doubt my all time favourite Sonic game

I've heard this would be a good place for me to start playing Sonic games in this huge franchise. After the movies turned me into a Sonic fan I decided to give it a go and, despite its age, it was a mostly fun experience. Sure there's some jank present, but same goes for Super Mario 64 and LoZ: Ocarina of Time. I know a lot of mid Sonic games exist but that doesn't mean we shouldn't judge things fairly. I would gladly recommend Sonic Adventure to anyone who's interested in getting more invested into this franchise, and I can't wait to play the sequel!

I can't recommend the steam port as is, but with a few mods, it's the best. There is a simple tool called sadx mod installer. stay away from the now deprecated bettersadx.

A lot of fun despite it's age, there's a bit of jank to levels and the voice acting is comically bad but it's so very charming because of this. High recommendations.

Difficulty Overall : 5/10 Approximate Amount of Time Required for 100% : 30-40 hours. This is easily one of my favorite 3D Sonic games. The sense of speed, memorable level design, amazing soundtrack, and unique adventure atmosphere make it a game I keep coming back to. Sonic's stages are especially fun, offering a great mix of platforming and fast-paced action that still feels satisfying years later. If you're planning to play the Steam version, I highly recommend following the SADX Mod Installer guide available in the Steam Community Hub. It takes only a few minutes to set up and greatly improves the overall experience with visual, audio, and quality-of-life enhancements while staying faithful to the original game. However, age has not been kind to every aspect of the game. The camera can be unreliable, animations and voice acting are often awkward, and some gameplay styles, especially Big's fishing stages, feel far less polished than Sonic's levels. The Steam version is also based on a weaker port that suffers from graphical and technical issues compared to the original Dreamcast release. With the mod installed, it feels much closer to the experience fans remember and remains an absolute blast to play. The charm, music, characters, and sense of adventure are timeless. A classic Sonic game that still holds up remarkably well and is absolutely worth playing in 2026.

love this game, even though its a bit janky and has a ton of bugs, it's an amazing game for its time, i always replay this game once every other year or so to remind myself of how good it is. It also introduces two amazing characters (Big The Cat and E102 Gamma) and I still hope and pray for a Sonic Adventure 3 100% recommend

I mean for its price its decent but i have seen better sonic games but this one is not bad just a bit hard to use your camera and its a bit laggy

With that stated, [i]Sonic Adventure DX[/i] is a Dreamcast classic that has been remastered and ported onto PC with slight improvements to textures and, for some reason, the addition of archaic Game Gear titles. Like most ports of classics, especially those of the 3D variety, the camera is horrendously terrible to control, and the controls cannot be remapped to make modern gamers' lives easier. If Sega were to delist this video game from Steam, they would be completely justified in doing so.
