The Crocipedia is the perfect way for superfans and game historians alike to take a deep dive into the creative process behind the game and uncover the stories that helped shape Croc's journey to become a gaming Legend.

A remaster of a 30 year old game with no notable improvements. They added modern controls to replace the tank controls, but that's it. The new graphics look almost identical. They couldn't refresh even the most basic assets in the game, everything is still ugly. The game doesn't hold up, it's a very basic 3D platformer with no soul to it. The soundtrack is good, at least. I bought this to relive my childhood but this was a lazy remaster, especially at this price point. Play Crash Bandicoot or Spyro instead.
they didn't bother on fixing the awkward colliders, slippery movement, or even try to add some coyote time to those inconsistent platforms. new textures just looks like they just threw old texture to any image generator AI. the price it's totally not worth, either buy it because of n o s t l a g i a or just skip it
Croc is a charming character but the game is very bare bones, you can see that the creators never finished the boss fights, they just end with a awkward pose. i grew up with Croc 2 and i would prefer to have 2 instead of this Croc 1, but i don't hate Croc 1, don't get me wrong it is a cute but bare bones platformer, i would recommend if you can get for less than 5 dollars.
Lovely game, I adore older games specially N64 games, though I never played the original Croc but did see videos on it. I was happy to see them remake it and it does take me back to just similar games with some challenge and fun collectables and hidden secrets. Sometimes that is all a game needs to be fun. The game is not long even to 100% so I would wait for a sale even if you are a Croc fan but it was nice of them to include the old-look for those who prefer it so there is that as well.
I only briefly rented and played the original Croc: Legend of the Gobbos (1997) on PS1 and didn't get very far. I did, however, own Croc 2 (1999) on Windows 98 and actually finished it once, so that's the one I'm nostalgic for. Nostalgia aside, it's important to understand that this is not a remake. It's a very light remaster at best. As far as I can tell, they added analog control support, increased polygon counts on character models, and replaced textures with higher-resolution versions - many of which look like they were upscaled and painted over. Some textures, especially on walls and floors, don’t even line up, stretch, or tile properly. Everything else is the same. The controls are greasy - bad greasy. Every level feels like an ice stage - and then you reach the ice stages and things get even worse. Boss fights end with extremely underwhelming reactions (or none at all). Hitboxes, invincibility frames, and certain platforming segments feel wildly inconsistent and unfair. It genuinely feels like they preserved the control issues exactly as they existed 28 years ago, with little to no modernization. Given the amount of time that's passed - and the price being asked here - that's disappointing. If Croc 2 ever gets attention, I really hope more effort goes into improving how it plays, because I'm sure it had many of the same problems back then too. I will mention one more thing they added - the Crocopedia. It's packed with soundtrack variants (original, remaster, and unused tracks), interviews, concept art, magazine scans, merchandise, and even a full thirty-some page write-up on a Croc TV show that never happened. If you're like me and wondering why a 1997 platformer takes up ~30GB today, it's probably this.
One of the first games I ever played on ps1 as a kid, crazy to play it years later remastered on PC....
I don’t know why I keep buying those Souls-like games
I liked Croc when I was child.
