About
Songs of Syx is a low fantasy city-builder with vast real-time battles simulating tens of thousands of citizens and soldiers. Start off as an insignificant village and build, scheme, and fight your way towards a mighty city state and empire. The mechanics are deep and true to life, where small events can spiral into the collapse of kingdoms.

Full of different races, cultures, old and new gods and strange creatures - everything in Songs of Syx is connected. Night turns to day, climate and weather change, and migrations of animals and people flow. Droughts and pestilence, raiders, traders and bandits, and new discoveries will ensure kingdoms and empires come and go with or without your intervention. Everything you do generates new unique stories and worlds each time you play a new game.

Win the hearts of your subjects or whip them into submission. Have their number swell your insignificant village into a metropolis of your design. Watch tens of thousands of individually simulated citizens and slaves interact: each with their own life, religion, fears and desires.
Build each house, street and plaza with utmost care in order to keep the needs of your citizens, your state and your army balanced.
But be careful not to overreach: everything you build requires upkeep and a slight disruption to your production, or a dip in your standing, could quickly spiral out of control. Your people will not hesitate to turn against an incompetent ruler.

Recruit, train and equip citizens of your great city. Gather allies and vassals, conscript traveling mercenaries and local peasants to bolster your ranks with up to 50,000 individual units. Use tactics and skill to encircle your enemy in massive real-time battles, or let your reputation demoralize them before the fight.
Each soldier is simulated and will require supplies produced by the industrial might of your great state. The outcome of battle will dictate the rise and fall of empires.

Break the backs of slaves as they make your beds and swab your floors. Just throw them a bone from time to time to keep them from rising up in revolt. Appoint nobles, or import them from other kingdoms and have them manage different aspects of your kingdom to boost your production and standing, but be careful with whom to trust, and reward them accordingly as some might get the idea to usurp you or join your enemies.

As your capital grows, it must be sustained by the villages, towns, lumber camps, castles and ports that constitute your kingdom. But you are not alone. Other kingdoms and despots are either eager to forge an alliance or expand their borders, so tend to your relations. To grow your might, you must engage in diplomacy, trade and war.

Thanks to the fulfilment of our first Kickstarter stretchgoal the game will have a fully fledged soundtrack made by @jasinkamusic. We already have some tracks done which neatly fit into the playable prototype.

Thanks and "just wow" to the developer (or team). This is an amazing game. It is both simple and complex at the same time. You can "just play" or "dive deep into the details" and micromanage so many aspects of the game, it is like 50 different games in one. I find this game to be like an excellent city builder, and colony management sim. It is updated frequently and each update that I have seen makes the game better and makes me want to play it again. I play this game on a lap top, on road trips and it makes a 10 hour car ride feel like nothing. After 290 hours of play, I am still finding things I can tweak or focus on to make it interesting. I am also still learning because this game is huge, however, you do not need to know everything to play, and I am amazingly "not good" at games. I did not struggle in the start, however the game actually rewards you if you do. There are benefits given for losing or failing which can then be taken in the next run to help you succeed. This is a good reason to not save scum your first run, just fail in glory a couple times and collect those titles. I even like the graphics of this game. They may not be ultra-whatever but that allows me to run this on a laptop and build a huge colony. Also, as you give your citizens what they want, you can see them adding it to their houses, which is a neat thing for graphics. I have long thought graphics were overrated and craved good games over amazing graphics, which seemed to be a trend for a long time. This developer (team?) heard my prayers. Thanks again! Two thumbs up (if I could).
I wish this game was entirely automated/incremental but keep everything else. Feels like Rimworld and I don't like that because of the job system which is just as annoying as Rimworld. Most of the gripes from other people are true. No matter what you do your citizens will hate you no matter the difficulty. Plebians aka Civillians will spin in circles randomly instead of doing their job. They will also not prioritize foraging which is infuriating because you need fruit to build a fruit farm etc. This games time sink factor just like Timberborn but at least that game has charm and interesting water mechanics. I don't even really like Timberborn that much and I know it is better than this game right now. "Well just fix it with mods!?" Says the person who doesn't realize I only spend $25 to enjoy a game and not have it become game developer work. About the only good thing I can give this game is its art and music. Overall wouldn't recommend this game until developer balances out the fundamental systems of the game.
I really wanted to like this game. The scale and simulation seem incredibly impressive, and I can see why so many people love it. Unfortunately, I never got to enjoy the simulation because I spent most of my time fighting the UI. The text, icons, and interface elements are far too small, especially on modern monitors. The game clearly was designed on a 1080p monitor, and doesn't cleanly upscale the UI to match 2k and 4k resolutions. Scaling aside, the color choices are terrible, dark blue on brown, dark gold on brown, light gray on dark gray, on and on. This has the most uncomfortable, unusable UI/UX I have ever seen in a game. I found myself constantly squinting, leaning toward the screen, and hunting through dense menus just to perform basic tasks. I'm not alone with this - if you read reddit and reviews, this is a very common theme with people. The tutorial didn't help much. I became stuck during warehouse construction because the game never clearly explained what actions finalized a room, what canceled it, or why my work kept disappearing. Instead of learning the game, I was wrestling with the interface and atrocious onboarding. For context, I enjoy complex management games like Dwarf Fortress. Complexity isn't the problem here. Readability and onboarding are. There's probably an amazing game underneath all of this, but the UI and tutorial were enough to make me refund it.
Cool concept unfortunately this game fails at it. The game is very unbalanced. The videos show massive battles but you will never get there as most of the time you won't get enough food to feed anyone. Five fishermen can only get six fish. Ten carpenters make five furniture. Fifty lizards and fifteen workers make ONE egg and .3 meat. The decay rate eats your supplies faster than your citizens. There is not enough feed back to tell you what you are doing right or wrong. It is a farming simulator not a colony sim. You will be farming to barely feed your workers and wondering why the janitors can't find the clay right next to them. Are they too far? Is there enough? What does adding more workers do? Who knows. Playing this game can be summed up as a shoulder shrug.
play the demo it's basically full length game without the recent updates
I genuinely really enjoyed the game but recently the developer decided to make a comparison of one of the fantasy races to people irl and it is in such poor taste imo. Its one thing to be the bad guy in a fictional universe where you are just one of a hundred despots its another entirely to make 1 on 1 comparisons to real world political movements and pit you the player against them. I cannot in good taste recommend buying this game with the dev putting something so blatantly racist into it.
