This is an interesting take on a traditional game. Not too complex, but the different gameplay modes makes it as simple or as difficult as you wish, which is very nice.
I like to look at the controls page and the settings before starting any new game. Just out of habit. On the controls page, there are clearly keys for two players and there is a fire weapon key as well. I knew that I had to try this feature out right away.
You play your standard blocky snake game, you go around the screen collecting fruit blocks. You avoid the walls, which could be turned on or off. You can even turn on a option to eat your own body, so that if you trap yourself within an enclosed space, you do not have to have a game over. The game speed can be set as well. And if you happen to turn on the Weapons option from the menu, you will be collecting fruit blocks in addition to little gun blocks, which also counts toward your total score. You can fire these guns at will, but be aware that if the bullets hits your body, you lose blocks and points. If you fire a bullet from your body and your head is in the way, it's end of game. There, you have been warned.
There is a tetris mode which was a bit interesting to see. Blocks fall from the sky and you have to avoid them. If they fall on your head, you lose. Fortunately they can fall on any other part of your body and you continue playing. Otherwise, the tetris games would be a game that you just avoid blocks, and not pick up any fruit blocks to stay small and avoid the falling obstacles.
I was rather amused that the snake with its little guns look like asymmetrically grown legs of a growing centipede. So with that option, the snake starts to look a little bit not quite like a snake any more.
The controls are WASD for player 1 and arrow keys for player 2. But if you only play one player, the arrow keys also moves the snake around the screen. No controller support. Keys cannot be remapped.
What can you expect? It is a snake game with a twist. There is no shortage of snake games, but this one is fun to kill a few minutes with. If nothing, just to watch the snake grow funny looking little feet.
