I have really been enjoying this game just like all their other games as well. I don't know why people are complaining that the can't open it or that it freezes, it must be a PC issue for them. I have had no trouble at all, it has never froze for me nor have I run into any bugs in the hours I have played so far. if you enjoy some of the other combat RPG's that they have, then I highly recommend getting this game.
It's a fine game. It's similar to High Sea Saga DX but has enough changes in it to feel like a new experience. You do dungeon on islands. You collect crew and switch their jobs after mastering them for bonus stats. You pay for job switch with global currencies that you get with your crew working inside the ship on different rooms (you don't need to collect them on each crew like you had to do in High Sea Saga DX, so you can dedicate some characters to collecting stuff outside and some to collect these currencies and customize them specifically for the task). You can add up to five abilities to the character for a total of 7 (unique which depends on starting job, current job related and up to 5 that you unlock when mastering the jobs). Other than clearing dungeons on islands you can fight bosses to unlock new territories with new islands and refight them when they respawn to get rare currency which is used to buy more crew, increase room caps, increase capacity for food and fuel and for some other stuff. Significant change is being able to create a squad on flying mini-boats which can patrol the area for extra loot and exp and to reduce the amount of enemies spawning on your ship (up to 0). They can also join the dungeon team for the cost of some fuel (the better the boats the more you need to pay). Overall the game feels good, not sure why the reviews are so negative. It didn't crash even once for me yet.
It's a copy of High Sea Saga DX without the energy constraints, but it isn't glitched. Click on the land of the 2nd island to develop the land and make progress. Still, not worth $12 if you've already played High Sea Saga DX. If you haven't, I guess play this one over that, but still, it's okay, not great.
Whatever issue causing the freezing has been fixed, so now its just a good game!
Another day another terrible Kairosoft game I have to play. And Hey! Check this out a Kairosoft game that so many people have issues with because it freezes on their end when getting to the second map of the game... I was literally hoping that it would FOR ME so I can stop TOURTURING MYSELF for playing Kairosoft's terrible games they just slap on to Steam without any optimization for PC (Clearly there was no optimization again this time because the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game FROZE for people), terrible controls to play on PC and a game that runs like an idler because did you know THESE GAMES WHERE ON MOBILE? Lemme also mention that I feel like this is the first time a Kairosoft game in the beginning barely told me what the ♥♥♥♥ to even do. I remember so many of their game having a very.... VERY long and boring ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tutorial for this game but I was questioning wtf I was suppose to do that I just deleted my first save to find out wtf I missed because it zoomed right past my screen. Also not to mention the ship has the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ layout as High Seas DX... how original Kairsoft...
Skyship Quest Story is a delightful blend of city-building, adventure, and light role-playing mechanics that showcases the strengths of Kairosoft's signature simulation formula while introducing an imaginative setting centered around airborne exploration. Developed and published by Kairosoft Co., Ltd., the game transports players into a colorful world of floating islands, where an ordinary airship gradually evolves into a thriving mobile settlement. Rather than focusing solely on managing resources, the game combines exploration, combat, and community building into a rewarding experience that encourages players to continually expand both their vessel and their influence across the skies. At the core of the adventure is the freedom to build and customize a flying fortress capable of supporting an ever-growing crew. Cabins provide homes for residents, while carefully placed facilities allow them to develop skills and generate valuable Knowhow Points. The placement of buildings becomes an engaging puzzle, as efficient layouts directly affect the productivity and happiness of the crew. Every improvement feels meaningful because the ship is more than just transportation—it becomes a bustling community where every resident contributes to the success of future expeditions. Exploration is equally important and gives the game its greatest sense of discovery. As players travel through the clouds, they uncover new floating islands that offer unique opportunities and challenges. Some become peaceful settlements that attract visitors and generate valuable income, while others contain dangerous monsters and mysterious dungeons waiting to be conquered. The steady cycle of discovering new territory, gathering resources, upgrading facilities, and venturing farther into the unknown creates an addictive gameplay loop that constantly rewards curiosity and careful planning. The management systems extend well beyond the airship itself. Islands under your control can be developed with guild facilities that unlock new equipment, useful items, and additional services. Deciding how to invest limited resources introduces a satisfying layer of strategy, encouraging players to balance economic growth with combat readiness. As the world expands, so do the available options, making progression feel natural rather than artificially gated. Every successful expedition opens the door to even greater opportunities, ensuring there is always another objective waiting on the horizon. Combat provides an enjoyable complement to the simulation mechanics without overshadowing them. Crew members venture into hostile areas where they battle monsters, collect treasures, and obtain materials needed for further upgrades. While the battles remain accessible, they feature enough variety through equipment choices, party composition, and special abilities to keep encounters entertaining. Powerful cannons, cooperative attacks, and consumable battle items add excitement to boss encounters, allowing players to approach combat with different strategies instead of relying solely on character statistics. One of the game's strongest features is its progression model. Unlike several earlier Kairosoft titles that conclude after a predetermined in-game timeline, Skyship Quest Story allows players to continue expanding their empire until they decide to complete the adventure. Upon finishing, New Game Plus carries over important progress, giving players an incentive to replay the game while experimenting with alternative layouts, different development priorities, and new crew compositions. This approach significantly increases replay value and makes long-term planning feel worthwhile. Visually, the game embraces Kairosoft's charming pixel art style, using colorful environments and expressive character animations to create a cheerful fantasy atmosphere. Floating islands, lively towns, and detailed airships give the world plenty of personality despite the minimalist presentation. The soundtrack complements the relaxed pace with upbeat melodies that reinforce the sense of adventure, while the straightforward interface makes navigating the game's many interconnected systems surprisingly comfortable once players become familiar with its mechanics. The game is not entirely without flaws. Many of its systems closely resemble previous Kairosoft releases, meaning longtime fans may recognize familiar gameplay patterns beneath the new setting. The opening hours can also feel dense due to the number of mechanics introduced in quick succession, and players seeking deep tactical RPG combat may find the battle system relatively simple compared to dedicated role-playing games. However, these limitations do little to diminish the overall experience, especially for those who appreciate simulation games focused on gradual progression and optimization. Skyship Quest Story succeeds because it combines exploration, management, customization, and light RPG elements into a cohesive and relaxing adventure. Building a flying civilization while uncovering hidden islands and strengthening an ever-growing crew creates a satisfying sense of accomplishment that lasts throughout the campaign. Although it builds upon many familiar ideas from Kairosoft's previous works, its imaginative airborne setting and polished gameplay systems help it establish its own identity. Fans of management simulations, cozy strategy games, and exploration-focused adventures will find plenty to enjoy as they transform a modest airship into a legendary kingdom among the clouds.
