About
Life between myths. Lead your clan into legend or obscurity. Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind is a storybook strategy game, immersing you in a land of old gods and magic, the same world as King of Dragon Pass.
Hundreds of small encounters build into an epic, multi-generational tale of survival and inter-clan alliances. Six Ages is the spiritual successor to acclaimed King of Dragon Pass, taking place thousands of years earlier in the same shared world of Glorantha. Part role-playing, part resource management, you'll always be making decisions with long-term consequences, for you and your clan.

Glorantha is a highly detailed Bronze Age world, similar in many ways to our own. But it exists in a magical universe where the laws of physics are subordinate to the whims of the gods and spirits. To understand Glorantha, leave our mundane world and enter the world of myth. The Sun is a living god, not a nearby star. Countless gods exist, some even more powerful than the Sun, and all have the power to directly affect humanity.
In Six Ages, you play specifically as a Riders clan, who revere various gods in their particular mythology, including Gamari the Horse Mother, and your culture hero, Hyalor... but you would be foolish to forget Raven the Trickster. He has not forgotten you.
Glorantha is also the setting of other rich narrative games/experiences, including King of Dragon Pass, HeroQuest, RuneQuest, God Wars, and others.

Amazing game 10/10. Hope for more sequels in Glorantha!
There's a lot to love in this game. It's a fantastic look into a mythical Bronze Age, where polytheism is a tangible fact of life and people share the world with strange creatures. It reflects the true aspects of a life that involves frequent migrations of people, and the need to evolve to keep surviving new circumstances. The difficulty is rather punishing at first, but mostly because this game's logic is different from that of most others, being a mix of management and CYOA. In the end, it is a fun challenge once you come to grips with it and after some rather frustrating starts. So overall, recommended and a really good game. However, I have to say that I'm very disappointed in the scope of the game, time-wise. Pretty much everything about the game's scale, to me, promises a multi-generational story that unveils largely through the game mechanics, supplemented by story event chains. The reality is that the game lasts only a few decades, basically one adult lifetime, and gets hijacked at some point by an event chain that will lead to the end of the game. It is very anti-climactic, and because of this, the epic promise of the game is not fulfilled. This could have been one of the very best games out there, but it has to settle for "very good"
A little difficult to understand in just one sitting, but highly rewarding to play
This is a wonderful text-based colony manager game (with a pretty cool plot) Pros -I love the story events and getting different ones depending on your choices -I love how strong the personalities for some characters are, I like how biased some of them are, makes the dynamic of having advisors more interesting. -The battle, exploration, fortifications and shrine systems work really well -People get upset if you *don't* pillage other settlements Cons -Can be a bit hard to keep track of your goals in this game, so I wrote it down in a notepad as I played (helped a lottt) -Some events seem to repeat a bit early on, I'm no where near finishing my first run, let alone a successful run and I'm already a bit bored with how similar some of the events are. -Tough to follow all the different gods that are worshipped, there is a myth guide, but you can't open it during events.
Work of genius The King of Dragon Pass / Six Ages form a distinct form of turn-based strategy, offering a wildly different strategy gaming experience. There is a strong narrative, lore, mythos, and world building that make this is a unique game experience. Its a little hard to get into at first, but its wildly different and really really really good ultimately. I will get Six Ages 2, now that I beat Six Ages 1 and though I never beat King of Dragon Pass, now I feel confident to go back and beat it as well. This isn't going to a match for certain types of gamers, but if it is your kind of thing, then you could really really love this game.
Radically altered my perceptions of identity, 10/10
Tolkien once wrote the only criticism of The Lord of the Rings he agreed with was that it was too short. I just finished my first game of Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind after many engaging hours. And I enjoyed it so much that even after the epic's worth of story I played through, I likewise wish there was more.
