About

“Onii-chan, you really are a lonely person.”
“Did you lose faith in me?”
“No. I love you, onii-chan.”
Unable to bear the ugliness of the world and terrified of other people, the protagonist develops the ability to read minds.
He shuts himself away and submits a light novel he wrote, which unexpectedly wins a newcomer’s award. But the jealousy and envy that follow only deepen his distrust of the few human relationships he still has. Those around him hurt his fragile heart without even realizing it.
His only remaining comfort is his younger sister, who lives with him.
Clinging to each other just to stay alive, the two sink night after night into a twisted, unhealthy codependency.
―I keep living alone, talking about my own prejudices and cursing the world. Day after day.
I ripped off Dostoevsky, half-assed it into something modern, and turned it into a light-novels.
I mean, I tried. In my own stupid way.
Had the heroines talk about “existentialism” like it was supposed to mean something.
The gameplay is an old-school, straight-up classic visual novel. The text fills the entire screen, so read as much as you want—or just right-click to hide it and enjoy the art. That’s it. Read, click, and vibe.
Live through a gloomy, suffocating real world through an overly sensitive protagonist… then come home and savor the only happiness left in his life: the time he spends with his little sister, his one true comfort.
As the friction with the people around you keeps piling up, there’ll be moments when their petty thoughts make you feel actual murderous rage. And in those moments, you can use your mind-reading ability to drive them to suicide.
That snide bastard. That arrogant asshole. Hit them right where it hurts—right in the deep-seated insecurities they never want anyone to see—and take them out. It’s not like you’re killing them with your own hands, so you won’t get caught. The ones truly at fault are the tasteless, mindless conformists who do nothing but obey society without a shred of aesthetic sense.
…But is that really okay?
What is happiness, anyway?
And in the end—what kind of future will the protagonist and his sister walk into?
Witness it with your own eyes.

Here is the English version: Let me start with the conclusion: the fairest and most polite assessment I can give this game is “not as advertised” and “incomprehensible,” and I strongly advise most Visual Novel fans not to buy it. I don’t know whether my “literary attainments” are insufficient, whether I am not cynical enough, or whether I am simply not on the same wavelength with this game, but I cannot understand at all what the story is trying to say or allude to. It may contain some satire of reality, society, and interpersonal relationships, but to me it comes across as contrived, trotting out a pile of obscure literary and philosophical quotations that leave people baffled—a kind of “showing off,” if you will. The entire game is filled with the protagonist’s lengthy inner monologues, expressing himself in a preachy, didactic way. It is hard to empathize with him, let alone see the story from his perspective. In the end, it feels like nothing more than the self-destruction of an unhinged pretentious hipster, with no real substance whatsoever. What angers me most is exactly this “not as advertised” problem I mentioned earlier. Take a look at the first word of the game’s title—“Sister.” What role does the sister actually play in the story? What is her personality? What habits and hobbies does she have? What kind of compelling character arc does she receive? The answer is: none at all. The sister, Sahana, is just a decorative prop used to attract attention, a machine that pops up on cue to comfort the protagonist with a few baffling remarks, and a plot device shoehorned in to force a happy ending. She is even less developed as a character than the blonde man.I know there are certainly people who, like me, were drawn in by the “little sister.” If you are one of them, do not buy this game. There is nothing here that you are looking for. Finally, there is the farcical “happy ending”—the sister prays to “God,” and then “God” makes the protagonist suddenly have an epiphany, after which he goes off to travel the world. There is no foreshadowing whatsoever, no growth for the protagonist, and the sister does not achieve this so-called “good ending” through any talent or effort. It is purely a textbook deus ex machina. The absurdity of this ending makes all the supposedly “brilliant” literary and philosophical quotations that came before it worthless. After piling up so many words written by “humans” and so many philosophical thoughts voiced by “humans,” in the end it still needs “God” to save everything. To me, this is nauseating. So let me say it once more: if you are considering this game for profound philosophical thought, sharp social criticism, sweet romance, touching family affection, sincere friendship, or even the most basic humanistic care, then quickly abandon the idea of buying it. It is not worth your time.

I think it's a disservice to treat it just as "ngo's successor", "little sister VN" or "self absorbed pretentious slop". it's none of those things. I think you should approach this VN as you would a character study novella: it's short, it's centred around the main protagonist's psyche, his position in society and how that affects his life and the people around him and that's completely okay. you won't find exceptional world building or incredibly deep characterization from anyone who isn't the protagonist, because that's not what this VN is about. and i personally wouldn't want it to be in the first place: this VN is all of the things that nyalra exceeds at, a short character study on isolation in subculture spaces in the age of rampant capitalism, and that's exactly what makes me love his writing in the first place. If you approach this game expecting to play NGO in a different flavour, you'll be sorely disappointed. This game is not needy girl overdose in a different packaging, and i'm glad it's not: it's clear nyalra is trying a different approach, while keeping his own unique sensibilities shining in the writing (i think this game was far more heavily influenced by his own life and experiences compared to NGO, which makes me appreciate the narrative on a meta level as well). But this doesn't mean the game's narrative relies only on its meta qualities: it has a solid core concept, a narrative driven by strong conviction with a hypnotic execution that i argue could be possible also through its status as an indie VN If you like long prose, monologues resembling stream of consciousness and unreliable protagonists as much as I do, you will enjoy this VN thoroughly. nyalra describes it as a "5 hours long suicide note", and if that piques your interest, you should give it a shot for around $10 with creators like nyalra, aiobahn +81 and ohisashiburi working on it. hell, if you are quick enough and you end up not liking it, you can even get it refunded after experiencing a good chunk of it!! but i sure hope you won't end up thinking that way, because instead, i found it a fascinating comeback from nyalra, that makes me even more excited to see where his writing will head from now on! ps: nyalra basically wrote bl and he doesnt even know that(?)
3 General Things You Should Know Before Downloading This Game:
[olist] [*]An unhealthy, codependent relationship between the MC & Sahana (NO INCEST!!!) [*]There’s going to be a lot of reading, along with plenty of philosophical thoughts and discussions about society and social norms. [*]The endgame leans much more heavily into psychological horror, so be prepared for that. [/olist]
90% of this game feels like it was written by a middle schooler who thinks he is Kiyotaka Ayonokoji
If you are reading reviews to decide whether you should buy the game, then you probably shouldn't buy it. That's not to say it's a bad work; however it made me question why we engage with certain forms of media. How does a visual novel differ from a painting in a gallery? Should we consume them in different ways? I did not find enjoyment in a decent portion of the game, but I don't imagine that was the intention in the first place. I certainly thought it interesting and thought-provoking at times. Still, I can't help but judge the work by some measurement of efficiency, even if it wasn't the efficiency of enjoyment provided. Perhaps that is a reflection of my personal inability to find true refuge in art away from the structures that bind us in everyday life. Regardless, despite the novel's overall short length, I can't help but feel like I stared into the void for 5 hours, questioning why, oh why, are the depths so dark; only for the void to answer so: "𝓛𝓲𝓿𝓮. 𝓛𝓪𝓾𝓰𝓱. 𝓛𝓸𝓿𝓮." And y'know what? You're right, Mr. Deep Dark Void. But I can't help but feel that we could've done this better in some sort of decorative poster that we could hang up on the wall.
粉丝向自传性质作品,不太值得玩
Making light of readers. Horrible little sister, having sister in the name is deceiving, this isn't a sister you will like or has any presence at all! It's also boring.
Quite disappointing. I haven't read many VNs, but checked this one out because of the previous game of the author (which I haven't played myself). Making the MC insufferable was a choice I was down with, but there's no real pay off. He just says some mean things the whole game through and people kill themselves over it (or they do it in his imagination, who knows, but it doesn't make a real difference in the end). Really wished there was more of a twist to it. A meta aspect could have been interesting as well. I thought there was something like this because of the superzooming into the sister's eyes-scene in the trailer, but there's nothing. The sister was also just kinda there. She's called a genius multiple times throughout the game, but she doesn't really do anything.
