Who would name their town Sinister City? Vampires, of course! When John discovers his bride-to-be has been kidnapped by Sinister City's number one bloodsucker, there's only one thing to do - search for hidden objects! And kill vampires! Or at least insult them until they give your girl back.

Sinister City

Why am I wasting my time playing this?
The worst Hidden object game I've ever played. Literally the worst. I mean, I've played other HoG games that had either poor story, or bad gameplay, or some technical issues. But this game, without slightest doubts, managed to hit the jackpot in this matter! The moment I've seen that the main character walks through textures - I was this close to drop the game right away. It's not just bad, it's... shame. W-why even adding a playable character model to a game of such genre, if you can't handle it ingame on some adequate level? Story is bad. I see that developers tried to make something nontrivial, but with weak characters and poor dialogs like here, even potentially genious story will look like trash. BTW, the game itself also looks poorly. And no, the age is not the case. I've seen even older HoGs with better visuals. Gameplay? Puzzles are very primitive and repetative. HoG scenes are poorly drawn, boring and confusing. For example, you may start searching for items in a scene, but then, turns out, few of them may be hidden not just outside of the scene, but at totally different location at all, which is very misleading. The only redeeming quality the game has, at least in my case , I had no technical issues. Well, at least something. I suppose, this is my consolation prize. But I won't give you any guarantees here, because there are many posts about technical issues on the local forum. This entire situation is rather strange, coz I've played few other HoG games from the Jetdog Studious and they were more than good to be recommended. Didn't expect to see that bad sheep in their collection. Maybe it's because it was their first game. But in the end - I will not recommend Sinister City even for trading cards.
I've never played a hidden object game where i've had to descend into the infamous "Sinister City", wherein i have to rescue my own fiance from a vampiric in-law whose only real dream was to be a movie star, leading to some surprisingly hilarious hijinks. I actually had more fun with this than i was expecting to have, and i'm walking away with a quiet happiness. It's not the best game, and it's not a long game, but it's corny and cheesy enough (as well as being short enough), that i'd actually kind of suggest playing it. It's not amazing, but it's delightlyfully camp, If it took itself even a hair more seriously, then i'd say no dice, but because it doesn't whatsoever, I actually think it's worth the money to me. Good for a laugh!
I've played a lot of HOG's in my time. Is this the best? No, definitely not, but I still loved the goofy, corniness of the story. I'll recommend it, especially for the low price.
Sinister City, developed and published by Jetdogs Studios, is a hidden-object adventure that straddles the line between eerie mystery and tongue-in-cheek comedy. At first glance, it appears to be a straightforward vampire-themed rescue story, but it quickly reveals itself to be something far stranger and more playful than it initially lets on. The game follows John, a determined young man searching for his missing fiancée, Nina, who has been kidnapped and taken to the enigmatic Sinister City. What begins as a Gothic tale about love and danger gradually unravels into a surreal adventure full of odd characters, unexpected humor, and self-aware twists that push it far beyond the usual boundaries of its genre. The setup of Sinister City seems simple—explore environments, gather clues, and uncover the mystery behind Nina’s disappearance—but the game’s narrative choices make it stand out. Rather than embracing traditional horror, it opts for a comedic and at times absurd tone that feels almost parodic. The characters you encounter are delightfully exaggerated, and the story frequently takes bizarre turns that blend fantasy, satire, and a touch of fourth-wall-breaking humor. In one of its most memorable twists, the game even suggests that the entire plot might be part of a movie production, complete with directors, props, and staged drama. This willingness to play with expectations gives Sinister City a unique identity; it feels like a mash-up of a B-movie vampire flick and a playful indie comedy masquerading as a hidden-object game. In terms of gameplay, Sinister City delivers the core elements of the hidden-object genre while keeping the mechanics accessible for casual players. You explore a variety of hand-drawn locations—castles, eerie hallways, and other supernatural settings—searching for hidden items that help you progress through puzzles and dialogues. The hidden-object scenes are competent but not particularly challenging, offering players a relaxed pace rather than a demanding puzzle experience. Mini-games and small logic puzzles are interspersed throughout the adventure to add variety, though they lean toward simplicity and are more about keeping the narrative flowing than providing deep mechanical challenge. This balance makes the game approachable, but those looking for intricate puzzle design may find it overly straightforward. Visually, the game’s presentation reflects both its ambition and its constraints as a low-budget production. The art design captures the essence of a Gothic vampire tale, complete with dark stone halls, glowing candles, and crimson drapery, yet the execution can feel uneven. Backgrounds are colorful but occasionally blurry, character animations are stiff, and the transitions between scenes can appear abrupt. Still, there’s a certain charm in the aesthetic—an unpolished earnestness that fits with the game’s campy humor. The soundtrack, with its moody piano and faintly melodramatic undertones, supports the atmosphere nicely, even when the tone of the story veers more toward comedy than fear. Together, the visuals and audio create an experience that feels like an affectionate tribute to classic supernatural stories rather than a serious attempt at horror. What truly defines Sinister City is its personality. It doesn’t take itself seriously for even a moment, and that’s precisely what makes it enjoyable. The dialogue is filled with awkward jokes and intentionally over-the-top writing, giving the game a distinct comedic rhythm. The absurdity of its scenarios—vampire auditions, bizarre scientific contraptions, and strange side characters—keeps you constantly guessing what could possibly happen next. Even when the plot falters or the pacing drags, the sheer oddness of the world keeps you engaged. It’s a rare hidden-object game that manages to make players laugh out loud, and that levity turns what might have been a forgettable experience into something memorable for entirely different reasons than its premise suggests. Still, the game is far from perfect. Its brief runtime, occasional technical hiccups, and shallow mechanics might leave some players underwhelmed. A few bugs and minor interface issues can disrupt immersion, and the story’s pacing occasionally feels rushed toward the end. Moreover, its short length—many players finish it in under three hours—means that it doesn’t have time to develop its world or characters in depth. Yet, for all these shortcomings, Sinister City never feels like it’s trying to be more than it is. It’s a compact, self-contained adventure that aims to entertain, and in that sense, it succeeds admirably. It knows it’s silly, it knows it’s campy, and it embraces that identity with confidence. Sinister City ultimately stands as one of those indie curiosities that defies easy categorization. It’s part parody, part hidden-object mystery, and part surreal comedy, tied together by a sense of creative mischief that makes it strangely endearing. It may lack the refinement or complexity of more sophisticated titles, but it compensates with humor, charm, and a willingness to experiment within its genre. For players who enjoy hidden-object adventures but are also open to a dose of absurdity and satire, it offers a short but amusing experience that refuses to play by the rules. Sinister City might not be a masterpiece, but it’s a delightfully odd little gem that manages to entertain precisely because it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Rating: 6/10
I would love to give a review for this game, but first I'll need you to find a bottle, glasses, a mace, 9 stars, all the lost pages in my secret journal (one of them is invisible btw good luck lol), the recipe for the surprise cake (also in pieces), all the ingredients for that cake, the mixer and bowl, then you'll need to complete a little mini-puzzle where you bake it, then lastly find 12 marbles (one of them is a missing texture and you'll just have to assume the big white rectangle is what you're looking for).
Game was okay... For as long as it lasted... And then it locked me out. I am unable to progress in the Astral Plane. Nothing functions and everything gives me a Red "X". You can't go anywhere either. This was more like an attempt at "point n click", "walk around" and do "H.O." stuff. Interesting, but... I have to keep waiting for the MC to catch up and eh... I would've had more to say... If the game didn't glitch on me. Oh well.
