Great idea, but very poor execution. Lots of guns, but most of them are useless. Many ships are simply unplayable. Space is empty, there are random events in it, but they are few. For 18 hours I saw about ten times each. There is money, but it is extremely easy to earn it - it would be better if they developers not added at all. Weapons and ships can be obtained for increasing reputation, but for it you need to complete dozens of exactly the same missions. Very boring repetitive missions. Also, the field of view is very small - usually you won't be able to see who you're fighting. You can't continue playing after winning.
Spent a good number of hours with Silent Sector, more than I initially thought. It's Star Control (very) light implementation turns out to be a very addictive title. Silent Sector is an overhead twin stick shooter space RPG where you roam a universe of sorts, a universe containing events and quests that drive the title's progression. You roam in your ship on a star map. There is leveling and factions of which you may or may not align through game-play and questing. Factions have their own ships of which you unlock. The further you align the more ships and weapons become available. Weapons of course play an important role and they are very numerous indeed. What I like about the weaponry is a trait called diffusion or accuracy. Therefore the most powerful may not be the most desired. You can also purchase support gear that gives your ships special properties such as be able to break a tractor beam or accelerate mining asteroids. Ships, weapons and support equipment can be expensive though the economy meaning the quest rewards and acquired consumables allow you to build a good load-out without much trouble. There is a story and honestly it's not terrible and there is a lot of space culture and humor in the game. The development team is very small and assets are somewhat low quality but again this is not necessarily bad. What's important is what the development team has done with the entire package. The developer has gone the extra mile by implementing alternate control schemes for users uncomfortable with the original. The game is very playable with kb/m or controller. Perusing the forums I've observed that the developers have not realized the full potential of the title yet what's here is very good. I can only imagine if they would of realized their true vision for this title. Perhaps if I win the lottery I'll throw them a couple hundred thousand so they can finish it :).
Over all, its a OK game. Enjoyable for what it offers, but is shallow in content. Great for weekend warriors, and people with limited time. For there is only about 10-15 hours of normal play. 25~ hours completion-ist of play depending on RNG. Most i would pay for this is $10. I would suggest a sale. Runs well on Steamdeck, and graphics are top notch. Story and narration is simple but enjoyable. As for combat, It's nothing special. For the weapons and ships are bland and don't offer much in way in strategy. UI could be enhanced if not stream-lined. Quests/tasks are basic and unremarkable. Also very repetitive. Many of the issues I have pointed out are noticed only after 8 hours or more of play. With every thing said, what it does, it does well. Sadly though, with shallow content and mechanics, and story. Repeatability is extremely limited. Again, I suggest buying on a SALE.
Want a space exploring game wich is easy to understand and just jump in now and then? Then this may be your game. Game includes mechanics like: trading, mining, space battles and missions to get in god standing with differant factions. If you complete missions for one faction you can buy there technology, weapons and ships. Ships have different abilities like mining, artillery etc. Out in space your will encounter anomalies, lost ships, stranded ships to protect or help. There is more but thats up for you to discover. Delivering goods tand mining is a usefull resource of income as asteroids are scattered everywhere for you to mine. One thing i like is that when you sell your old weapons, you get the same $$$ amount back to use for new purchases so go ahead test before going out in space. As you progress enemy factions can take over space stations. Fighting and blowing them up is fun and rewarding as you can then choose to give area to another faction or the one you are working to expand relations with. The game is easy to get into, no need to read huge manual or search web howto play. Interface dont take long to get used to. But i do recommend that you change controlls to your liking. Me myself like the control 3 method best. End words! My 2 cents was after playing this, I went back and bought all games by this dev and publisher. I want to see more from them in near future. Lots of love by support!... ;)
A short but sweet game. They bring their humor, artstyle and space battles from jets and guns. This game offers more replayability through factions and random events. It might not be worth $15 but $10 and below is totally worth it if you're into this sort of game. you can try the demo and the save file will transfer. Wish there was more content though and a better difficulty curve.
Its a mini SPAZ 1 and Starsector lite game if you feel the itch but dun wanna mod 160 mods like me for star sec or miss SPAZ Some gripes about this tho; no way to re read tutorials or info ingame turns out arty = missiles
Simple but humorous space opera. Gameplay is like Epic's Solar Winds and to a lesser extend Star Control. Will write full review when I feel like it. In the mean time just buy it. 🙂
