For being a sequel to tower walker it plays and feels exactly the same. If you have played tower walker its pretty much the same experience. They only added some stuff but didnt enhance the experience. You still just progress stages just like tower walker it just has nicer environments. Not worth the price tag, they should have expanded gameplay more. One thing that drew me toward this were peoples lies about an intricate crafting and upgrade system. It is no different than tower walker with the same items even. These reviews must be from friends or people who never actually played tower walker. Dont let this false promise of character customization fool you. You choose a class, which gets to use 1 weapon type. Then shortly after you can level up, to pick a different class with the same or a different weapon type. Its the same thing as tower walker.
There are many annoyances I have with this game and, despite them, I gave it a good 80+ hour attempt to see if there were some redeeming qualities further down the progression stream. There really weren't. I'm not going to list everything out but here's the bottom line: This is the most expensive "idler" I've seen in a long time and the developer will dance around all day on explanations about it being a complete game that they're just CHOOSING to grace us with updates for. However, the raw reality is that this game is barely out of Early Access. Which side of the philosophy for content availability you reside on will likely shape your reaction/response to this review, but this game's condition is half baked and their allusion to more content (which I consider core elements) only worsens that condition. OK, I'll detail some of my grievances. Ascension is pitiful. It offers a rebirth mechanic for no real reason other than the introduction to a mechanic for mechanic's sake. You'll have been better off not ascending. The developer says they never really intended on ascension being a part of the core gameplay, but you'll eventually hit a zone level wall that even on the lowest density/respawn settings can be insurmountable by some classes. So, essentially, ascension IS the only way to really progress. Ascension is pitiful part 2. When you ascend, you restart at level 1 with your gear and skills intact. Sounds great, however, the way you manipulate all of the options to start back in zone 1 and progress back through the same game again is monotonous. The zones no longer become a thing to experience or enjoy, but merely a vehicle to just get to level 80 again so you can use the terrible ascending pathway again. You won't care about the bosses (at all) or dungeons (for the most part if you already got the gear you needed) so it's really, really monotonous. Account wide skill growth. Seems cool, however, the skills that transfer across your account aren't relevant by the time you need them. Typically in idlers, account wide growth adds a substantially progressive sense of accomplishment (I.e., you actually feel more powerful in how quickly you progress in subsequent run throughs). You will not feel that in this game. Deathless concept is poorly implemented. Massive stat bonuses for not dying seem cool, except you'll eventually run the risk of running into harder zones where death is a real threat. If you die you're immediately weaker as the deathless stat bonus you had (and still died with) is now gone. It's just a poor implementation that 1) you didn't earn in the first place and 2) cannot be earned once lost. While there are auto options you can set to use potions and escape scrolls at certain thresholds, their implementation does not provide the safety net you might expect. On that note, you can't really use anything from your inventory while not in town. For instance, if you have a more bougie escape scroll (which you have few of) equipped in your auto-escape option, you can't use the regular ones (which you have infinite of) if you just want to escape in a non-emergency. So, you'll have to go into the auto options and select the basic escape scroll just to use it. Then, in town, you can't switch it back; you have to reenter a zone, hurry up and set up your bougie escape scroll and repeat this constantly. If you're in a hard zone, that delay from the basic to the bougie could mean you die. Zone density/respawn options. You'll adjust these manually for every single zone, every single character, and then do it again for the same character each time you ascend for every single zone. A simple dynamic slider on the main player UI would have been a game changer. Displeasing QoL experiences: - Loot goes to your inventory instantly, but it lands on the ground visually and takes like 10 seconds to actually "move" to your character. You can't click or hover on it to scoop it up. You just get to watch this really unsatisfying loot drop process as an observer. - Character movement and attack logic is sub-optimal. This is one of those games where everything in your striking zone gets hit. That's pretty cool; however, your character will run into a group and then either 1) awkwardly move around at pixel speed to get into whatever position it's looking for and/or 2) have 7 enemies on their back with 1 in front while choosing to attack the 1 in front while the 7 behind you destroy you. - Crafting is just annoying. You don't even have to do anything other than tap a couple buttons but it's annoying because the things you'd want to craft, you wont have the materials for. The things you can craft don't really matter. And then the things you wish you could craft (new armor/weapons) aren't even an option. The developer states that they want you to run dungeons for the better gear, but the dungeons aren't really compatible with idler game mechanics because 1) they have a cool down and 2) require a reagent to skip the cool down. - There's something strange about the resolution; like it doesn't ever seem very clear even at the highest resolutions. It's either too small or just slightly fuzzy. If you play full screen, it's less of an issue..... ....BUT..... - ULTIMATE REASON for this negative review: You have the audacity to charge $13.49 for a game in 2026 and DO NOT HAVE WINDOWLESS MODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ridiculous.
Ok, so I really want to support the developer as I enjoyed Tower Walker and had high hopes for this game and was excited for it to release thinking it would add to the Tower Walker mechanics. Honestly, after playing over 50 hours, ascending twice with one character and playing a couple others up to lvl 60 or 70 I am not impressed. I enjoyed the early game with some questions as to why things are the way they are like why can't you craft any gear worth using? Why is there so many bugs for a 'full' release as this isn't advertised as early access? etc. The disappointment gets worse once you ascend. You realize there is literally no point in ascending. Nothing in the game changes. You get stronger with some more base stats while going back to level 1 but you keep everything; equipment, skills, pets, quest completions, everything. And nothing in the game changes. You still can't craft anything useful, the store doesn't sell anything new at all, the quests don't even reset, let alone change, the zones don't get harder, no new mechanics, etc. Literally nothing changes. There is like no purpose to grind to ascend again. Hell there is no purpose to continue playing at that point. So, unfortunately, while I originally enjoyed the game and want to support the developer, my biggest problem with this game is that it was not released as early access as it is far from a complete game. I can't recommend it. I 'guess' I got my money's worth out of it since I normally want about an hour out of every dollar spent, so there is that if you want to go with that path of thinking. But overall you will be disappointed once you hit lvl 100 and ascend. You will find the game is shallow and has a lot of work ahead in order to be something good. Bad decisions were made by the developer, both in game mechanics (or lack thereof) and outside the game on releasing it.
Honestly, the whole thing feels like a scam. Anyone who has played Tower Walker won't find much new here, aside from a few QoL improvements. It is a reskin of Tower Walker, complete with numerous bugs and less content. For the price—especially as a successor—this offers far too little.
Tower Walker was way better. This game just seems designed to waste as much of your time as possible. Its much harder to progress. I'm level 60 and still on d grade equipment. Chests dont give you equipment anymore. Its like the dev forgot what made the last game fun.
Reskin of Tower Walker, but more broken
I didnt play much but it's true that there are improvements from last game... altough just to make a remark i miss being able to buy items from vendor... that helped grinding a lot... My friend loved the game tough and yes we do both recommend!
Fun idler game, much like their previous game Tower Walker but I can see the potential in this one much more. Perhaps should have been labelled early access as there were a fair few bugs and balancing issues but the devs have been actively fixing them and listening to player feedback so a lot of the complaints people had have already been addressed,
The game is EA without saying it. Wait for a few years to play.
Super stoked about this game! Loved Tower Walker...and for the most part this is the exact same game. So that's kind of a good thing. By far my favorite auto battler/idler. Would be great to be able to have a social hub and go on raids with others kind of like Idle Clans...but this formula works out perfectly. Keep up the good work!
