Sid Meier's Pirates! Gold Plus (Classic)

This game is really excellent and I'm surprised how much time I've spent on such an old game. It's fun and relaxing, with different strategies and depth that is not immediately apparent. Note, this is not the "newer" Sid Meyers Pirates! from 2004.

used to be interesting 20+ years ago, now it's garbage. Nostalgia only, but gets boring in 2h.

Everyone should play this at least once!

1987 steam game, really well made game for the 80's you can have s3x with waitress which is an odd feature

I was almost put off buying this, despite the cheap price, because of the comments. After purchasing it I found it was well worth it! The game speed was fine & the game runs as the original did. It can be controlled using the left/right mouse buttons & the spacebar, although I do use the number pad for swordfights & land movement. The copy protection works by having you identify a flag of the first pirate you encounter. I looked up the end of the old Pirates Gold! manual for this, although the flags are also historically accurate. Pirates! as an open-world game is far less dated than its contemporaries. However it is still dated. This is the second version, the first was from 1987, this version 1993, & a remake in 2004. The 2004 version may be better unless, like me, you have fond memories of this version or an interest in older game design. Pirates! in general is a masterclass in huge amounts of content using few resources.

this game is a joke poor design its like a bunch of toddlers put this game together dont be fooled into spending 7 dollars on this game refunds should be made to the people duped into paying for this music and play are laggy freezes a ton etc just poor performance

This is not sid meiers game but a cheep rendition they sure did a terrible job on graphics

One of the best games ever. Played this a ton on the NES.
