Sid Meier's Pirates! Gold Plus (Classic)

This game back in the DOS days when it came on about 15 bajillion 3.5 floppy disks was the bomb. I used to sit up for 48 hours straight guzzling jolt cola to stay awake (because that was the one and only and first ENERGY drink aside of strong coffee), no lie. If you don't know what Jolt cola is, well that's your loss....lol I'll tell you like my Mom told me.... LOOK IT UP!!!!! AHEMM.... The game, right... let's see. well you are on a ship see in the carribean, see and you are either a loyalist or you are a black bloody pirate who takes any ship or town he comes to and he rapes the town and pillages the women.....AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Game keeps on crashing. Unreliable.

It makes me so sad to report that this game doesn't work. You can play for a little while but it just crashes. It's heartbreaking, because it's a great game when fully functional.

If you played the original(s) and want to relive that expirience, buy this (but only at a sale) it contains the Dos Versions of the first pirates and the Pirates Gold Plus. Both versions are very good in terms of a pirates game. If you never played Pirates before go for the 2004 remake of Sid Meier's Pirates, the gameplay of the remake is pretty much the same, not as good as this versions though, some things got left out or worsened, but I personally prefer the remake to this versions. And beware, both ! versions have copyprotection which you need to search on the web first before you can play the games. An IDIOTIC oversight by the puplishers not to include them (well the manual of the Gold version is included, so its only the 88 version they forgot if you want to split hairs) But overall I recommend to buy this games.

This is an original, authentic game from the dawn of personal computers. It's a lot more fun, and addictive, than you might expect. It is one of the top games from the era it was made. For old timers, like me, the game is also a great nostalgia fix.

A childhood favorite, but when I played it just now I got to a point where it froze when I was trying to talk to someone. I had to use task manager to exit. Applied for a refund immediately.

Awesome game. Great Music. Just like I remember it!

I totally resent thumbing down one of the greatest games ever made, however.... The Amiga version was faaarrr superior. Sunk hundreds of hours after school on that game as a kid. Loved reading the manual for hints in the game etc.. Meier's best work in my opinion.

Fun and open ended, a real classic

played sence i was a boy on sega channel i found this game is awesome im 37 now
