This Civ and all it's expansions was my introduction to the series. It's a very solid micromanaging experience with lots of options and unique perks to the various leaders that keeps the game interesting and engaging based on who you're playing as or who your neighbors are. There is a lot to learn for new players but it does hold your hand and explains everything as it goes so you should catch on quickly. I usually play on the default conditions but it's highly customizable so you can experience really bizarre and different maps if you want. I also really liked the Scenarios placing you in historical events that you then play out as one of the sides as. One criticism is the late game tends to be a slog waiting for all the CPU units to do their thing and having little to discover or build to on your turn. The game is much faster paced in the first half of games by comparison. You could become so good at the game you start ending things well before the later eras though. I still easily recommend Civ 5 though. It's on sale often and the complete/gold edition is cheap enough that not getting it over the base version would be a shame for how much it changes and improves the game.

Venice and trying to make it diplomatic superpower is comfort food
Great time killer. The only part I wish it had is the world builder option. It made it more interesting.
.
dico solo che dopo aver comprato (scontatissimo) civ 7 dopo l update test of time (che avrebbe dovuto salvarlo) mi sono rifugiato di nuovo qui. Neanche civ 6 è alla sua altezza. Ma il 7 è na vaccata colossale proprio. Que viva civ5!
