About

I’ve always loved ships and boats, tall ships, steamers, pre-dreadnought french monstrosities, I love em all.
ShipShaper is a explorative ship builder I made for the simple pleasure of shaping boats and ships. You pull, push, and drag forms into place, creating everything from humble fishing vessels to tall ships, ironclads, and early dreadnoughts.
You can create historical ships, fantasy ships, steampunk you name it.
It's a boat designer married to experimental interfaces that are intended to take away the tedium from designing boats. No 3D skills required, no endless stacks of cubes, just some organic shaping and attaching props and functional items to create whatever ship you want.
When you’re done, you can place your ships into a world and sail them, the game does a proper analysis of your creation, its propulsion, hull shape and weight, all in order so you can properly enjoy and test your creation.
ShipShaper is about creating a foundational technology that will power my own future games, connect my franchise but also empower other creators to have fun with ships and have a usable output, game-ready and usable.

Ironclads go brrr

Initially, I wanted a refund because I don't like the physics and would like to see more accurate physics. I might use this as reference for designing ship models in Fusion 360 in the future. That's why I saw that there's a full export in different formats. So I'll leave it in the library. Thank you. But I'd like to be more sure that when I print this, it won't just be a decoration; maybe someone will want to make a radio-controlled ship. Therefore, I'd like to understand whether it will behave stably on water. I'd like you to work on this and improve the physics so that if the ship is unstable, it will simply capsize and sink. Thank you for better understanding.
ShipShaper is a gem unlike anything else I've seen on the market. It's more of a tool than a game; similar to how Townscaper is a relaxing click around experience rather than something with plot and a levels. You start with a small nub of generic ship and stretch, pull, massage, and decorate it into anything from a classic fighting sail ship of the line to a steampunk aircraft carrier, dreadnaught battleship, or fantasy sea monster mech. The killer part is being able to export the 3d model for printing or use elsewhere, which makes this an amazing tool for model building or tabletop rpg play. This game is part of the developer's suite of games set in his steampunk-ish ocean world, including Falconeer and Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicals, both of which share aesthetics with this title. Tomas Sala is a single indie dev who pours his heart into this and his other creations. He's active on his discord and very responsive to players, taking feedback, fixing bugs, and implementing feature requests. This has been the purest "early access" experience I've ever had, you really do get to have a say in the development process. ShipShaper is exactly the kind of niche, enthusiast title that deserves our support.
As someone who has SUNK hours into Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles I naturally love the idea of designing and exporting my own ship designs imported into it. Ship shaper is perfect at least for me in allowing me to create my own style/theme of ships for each of the factions. I love how easy it is to create something amazing and the no. of props is really good for where it is now. There is a huge amount of flexibility in the size and shape of the ships you can create and i have seen some truly incredible designs on the falconeer discord. I would like to see a prop index so I can have a little more control over mast/funnel placement but that may also be me not yet having a full understanding of the control/shortcuts. Genuinely great for what i want and recommend to anyone who wants to create their own versions of the factions ships.
