not enough things to build with and the terrain tools dont have an UNDO feature, maybe better once a few updates come out i suppose
Grabbed this game to use as an art reference for perspective etc. I think it works for what I initially wanted it to, but two thoughts: 1. I'd love the ability to make internal rooms (like a dining room or some kind of indoor setting). And going hand in hand with that, the ability to zoom and angle the camera better. 2. Please create the ability for us to import builds - the community can make some really cool designs that I'd never have the patience for, so would be really awesome to be able to share those.
I really rarely write reviews, but for once I think it might save some people some time and money if I do. the entire review can be summed up into "the game feels limiting", but I'll break it down: to start with.. the tutorial felt clumsy and in some cases not well enough written, especially when it comes to things like changing the roofs and such. I remember struggling a fair bit understanding exactly what the tutorial wanted from me when I first tried the game. there's very few things to actually choose from in basically every area of the game; terrain options, textures, structures and the like. most of the texture options are just recolors or dirtier versions of the original. it already would have been nicer if you could simply change colors via a slider. the terrain options are limited to like 9 options; 4 of which are variants of green grass on different types of dirt. surely there was better ways to handle this? brushes to allow people to pick what they put down, to mix what they want instead of being restricted to those specific presets? and lastly the building. I mean there isn't much, really. you pick either full wall or half wall for the base of the house, a few tiny decorative bits and bobs (genuinely not much to look at) and that's practically it. so for a game that wants to be something for people to be creative with, it really just limits you in so many areas. the only thing I will give the game is that the graphics themselves look pretty decent, but that's most games nowadays.
The game, for me, it's very limited for what it wants to offer, and not having a workshop to allow people to expand it, make me feel of wasted potential as these kind of games NEEDS a workshop to truly let people have their freedom Plus, a bit of confusing tutorial, but that's a very minor Maybe I'll change idea in the future, but for now it offers too little
Its quite sparce on buildpieces which can result in things looking very samey unless you think way outside of the box. Other than that its very solid. I'm going to take a leap of faith here and assume the dev is adding more buildpieces and props over time, and give it a positive review.
All of the positive reviews for this game are either one sentence or mention "potential". That's when you know something is bad. I really wanted to like this. I'm a huge builder. In multiple games, programs, etc. It's my favorite genre of game, and despite the lack of any real positivity I decided to give this game a go. Let me just preface this by saying that this game made me so mad I tried to refund it on steam, but due to the three hours of playtime I was unable to and am now forced to have it in my library as a "what could have been." Out of any building game I've played, this one has the worst and most obtuse controls. the UI should not fight the player. I am an experienced builder, and I don't agree with the developer's response of "just learn all of the control shortcuts and it'll feel so great!" That is not good game design. I should not have to spend three to four hours learning a program like this's control schemes to even get anywhere close to competently fast building. I built settlements in fallout 4 using only a controller and precise placement with the game crashing every 10 minutes due to corruption and it was a more enjoyable and intuitive feeling experience than this one. Furthermore, the lack of options is truly startling, as is the complete lack of a workshop or modding support of any kind. This game does not have anywhere close to enough assets to feel like a full release and not an early access or proof of concept. That's what this feels like, an unoptimized, bare bones proof of concept. I looked past all of these issues but the final nail in the coffin is the optimization. This game runs like ♥♥♥♥. I have a supercomputer and i was getting 3 FPS not even 40% into building a diorama. That's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous. I shouldn't have to run the game at potato quality to even be able to play it. If I can stream the sims 4 with every expansion pack installed and 300 gigs of mods at max settings with reshade on, then i should be able to place down more than 2 trees in this game without making it unplayable. And i'm not saying that the sims 4 is the pinnacle of building games, far from it. But what it lacks in precise placement and refinement, it makes up for custom content and the ability to not need a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ software engineering degree to do something as simple as add a window. Not to mention, I can actually build in different styles other than medieval. The developer needs to seriously rework the tutorial, make it not a requirement to complete before you can access the full game, and add about 2x more content as well as workshop support. They also need to heavily optimize this pretty turd before i would even consider it partially worth anyone's time. Which is sad to say, but how I feel. TLDR: Don't waste your money on this in it's current state. It needs a LOT more work and is a glorified proof of concept more than a real program or game.
Devloper will actually reply and encourages feed back. Give it a go. Not perfect but still fun :)
i like the game - just sad that its not as detailed as I thought it'd be. i feel like there can be so much more done to add more of a living touch to the houses. mods, dlc, something but i'd love to see more. i'm sure the devs are cooking on something. :) if you're the type of person expecting to have minimum 5 various types of potted plants, this aint like that. yet(?).
If you like to build stunning environments easily and quickly : this game is for you ! It's a very simplified and efficient Unreal engine, the visual quality is top, vegetation is credible, animals with presets system are so cute and fun ! I'd love to have more vegetation & rocks and be able to scale them. But I guess the library will grow :) Regarding placement system it's similar to Tiny Glades, a bit weird at first but you get use to it pretty quickly. All buildings comes with material presets and variants for objects, you can build beautiful environments easily. Feedback for the dev : I'd love a way to control the grid opacity. When using a small grid, the scene gets difficult to read.
I actually enjoyed this game . It would be nice to add background sceneries such as skies , mountains , or distant cities . This is also a very relaxing game for me . I give this relaxing game a five out of five .
