Good remake of a fabulous classic. Give it a go with both styles.

great game
nostalgic!!
Ok I'm keeping my original review here but let it be know that I was wrong. I love this game now. It's only after I've finished the game and got to the end that I've realized that everything here makes sense, everything is foreshadowed and explained to you but you'll just have to thing about it. The only puzzle that actually bugged me is
the one where there is light shining through the stained glass and you have to click on the ground to interact with it
but the rest of the game is fine. Very bold of them to put so many red herrings too, I feel that only Shadowgate would do this and that's pretty cool. My original, lame-ass review: Exploring the world of Shadowgate is very interesting. It is very grounded, mystical and misterious, and has that OSR RPG feeling that few games can replicate. But ooh boy, this game does not enjoy your company. Trial and error is actually very fun, but the torch mechanic really, really sucks. You can experiment all you want, but you will run out of time eventually, and you'll have to reset your save to begin again. Also, a great deal of puzzles makes absolutely no sense, and with the time pressure, it will take a while to figure things out.
