About
Lose yourself in an endlessly satisfying puzzle game set in the midst of a mysterious forest world. Transform your garden by combining plants into strange new forms, and unearth deeply hidden secrets as you become engrossed in the game’s calming rhythm. Wander into the forest and help bring it back to life with the help of Fen, your creature guide. Evergarden may feel familiar at first, but you will discover it is like no game you have played before.
Q: What type of game is this?
A: Evergarden is an “evergreen” puzzle game, set inside a narrative adventure.
We’ve spent years developing the core puzzle game to be accessible and relaxing, but also very deep and strategic. On a basic level, you’ll combine plants on a board to create more valuable items, and grow your garden within a turn limit. The game holds a lot of secrets though, and most players will spend months mastering the strategies required to get a great score. This portion of the game also has a leaderboard.
Beyond the garden puzzle board, there lies a mysterious forest environment to explore, with its own puzzles and progression. You’ll use the stones that you earn by playing the core puzzle board to solve puzzles, and unlock new “songs” which add depth and fun to the puzzle board.
Q: How long is the game?
A: The core puzzle game is “evergreen”, which means you can play it repeatedly and keep mastering it, without ever truly “completing” it. The adventure game portion will take most players 10-15 hours to explore, and there is also a daily challenge portion with a new procedural puzzle to unlock every day.
Essentially a puzzle game where you plant seeds and merge two of the same kind into a higher tier. You have only 10 turns to complete the stage. Creature will hint you with specific patterns which you should achieve in order to complete the stage and after doing so creature in the corner evolves. It plays similar to 2048 type of games and it's the simplest type of puzzle you can ever have. Aesthetic is nice but it does not avert from getting monotonous rather quickly. Practically each stage doesn't make much of a difference as it looks the same. Fun part about this game though is that you progressively uncover better strategies to get further and unlock more puzzle pieces by getting to tier 7 (no spoilers!). Recommendation for puzzle enthusiasts.
I am giving Evergarden a very, very slight thumbs up. The game bored me initially, but as I played more, I realized it's quite a bit more complex than it appears at first. Your task is to merge plants together to create ever more complex plants, up to lvl 6; at that point, the next merge creates a monolith that gives you a symbol after you finish the round. You need those red symbols (and a few other symbols from the environment) to solve puzzles in the various screens of the "overworld", so to speak, and get closer to the end of the game. What kept me going, despite the large amount of repetition, was that the better you do at the puzzle, the more symbols you will get as you will create more monoliths. You also get patterns you need to create during that puzzle, which give you additional flowers, and the monoliths can serve as wild cards too. If you put those monoliths together and plan out a triangle, you get an extra monolith which in the end will award more red symbols. Trying to plan out how you lay out flowers to get monoliths in the right fields is pretty fun and made me want to finish the game after initially being pretty bored. Here is the caveat though: it took me 6 1/2 hours to finish the game and, at time of writing, only 6.4 % of people even finished it. And the reason why is, as mentioned, that the game is just very repetitive. The base puzzle never really changes, there are only few patterns available and the only mixup is the songs you unlock over the course of the game which make flowers grow or have other effects and can only be used once. Even so, it becomes very repetitive very quickly and I don't blame anyone who gets tired of it after an hour or two - I did too, but decided to power through. I learned to appreciate the slightly higher complexity that I didn't see at first, but don't be fooled - Evergarden is still a very simple, samey game with barely any story to speak of that requires you to do the same puzzle dozens of times to finish it. The simple visuals are okay, but don't really impress and the soundtrack is calm, but about as repetitive as the game itself. Overall, I would give the game a mixed review if I could, but I do see the vision here and ended up enjoying it a bit more than I thought, so I will opt for a thumbs up - but wait for a sale.
FR/EN Evergarden
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3724201135
---FR---
Evergarden is a well-designed puzzle game. You're presented with a grid on which you must evolve the plants by combining them to level them up. Doing so earns you points and gems, which allow you to unlock new abilities over time. With each new stage, you'll discover a little more of the game's background and the storyline through scattered letters. Gems allow you to complete puzzles when you have the required number. This grants you new powers to progress further and further. Ultimately, the game is well-made and offers a good challenge. You'll need to carefully plan your moves to optimize each action and collect the maximum number of gems. Since you always play on the same grid, a sense of repetition can set in over the course of several games. The game should appeal to puzzle enthusiasts. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3724201267
It's a puzzle game with puzzle mechanics, but without actual puzzles. As in, there is a set of basic gameplay mechanics that let you move and combine tiles, but there are no actual curated interesting puzzle situations, it is all just random chance shapes you have to match. Yes, there is a strategy in managing your empty spaces so you can use it to grow more tiles, but it's just not very interesting. Even if you manage the empty spaces perfectly. you very quickly clog up your board with unusable tiles due to the fact that they are never removed from the board. And the random chance shapes vary wildly in size and difficulty and you never know which one you will get next, so you cannot prepare the board for the next one, eliminating one of the potential strategy aspects. You can just get randomly screwed if the game decides to give you something you have no chance of matching. There should have been more, there should have been pre-made boards with pre-set shapes to match, but as it is, it is just a showcase of game mechanics without a cohesive gaming experience around it. It's like opening solitaire to play a round- and sure, some people like these sorts of infinite timewasters, but I'm not one of them.

Buen juego de puzles y lógica, con una aventura interesante. Lo conseguí gratis, pero vale lo que piden, está muy bien.
Evergarden is truly a gem! From the moment I started playing, I was captivated by its stunning visuals and serene soundtrack. The gameplay offers a perfect blend of strategy and relaxation, allowing you to cultivate your own beautiful garden while solving delightful puzzles. The art style is simply mesmerizing, making each level feel like a painting come to life. I love how the game encourages creativity and exploration; every decision you make impacts your garden's growth and beauty. It’s a refreshing experience that feels both rewarding and calming. The narrative adds a lovely touch, weaving together themes of nature and renewal that resonate deeply. If you’re looking for a game that allows you to unwind while challenging your mind, Evergarden is a must-try! Highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates artful gameplay and tranquil experiences. Overall, a beautiful journey worth every moment!
Not for me. Too little depth and too little gameplay, with little reason to play longer than perhaps a few hours, if that.
It kinda feels like it would be better as a mobile game, usually when I sit down at my PC I want something with more substance than this. That isn't a point against the game though, it's a fun puzzle game for little bite sized sessions
