About

Promising the Sabotage touch in every system, Sea of Stars aims to modernize the classic RPG in terms of turn-based combat, storytelling, exploration and interactions with the environment, while still offering a hearty slice of nostalgia and good old, simple fun.

Pressing the action button in sync with the animations increases damage output while reducing incoming damage. Along with timed hits, combat features multi-character combo attacks, boosting, and a strategic "locks" system offering options to play with different damage types in order to hinder enemies while they are channeling powerful attacks or spells, all in an immersive take on the genre; no random encounters, no transitions to separate battlefields, and no grinding.

Swim, climb, vault, jump off or hoist up ledges as you traverse seamlessly through the world with a navigation system based on platformer expertise that breaks free from the classic bound-to-the-grid tileset movement.

Our custom-made render pipeline allows the creation of a breathtaking world coming to life by pushing the limits of 2D pixel-art games.

Dozens of original characters and story arcs will take you on a captivating journey. Sometimes epic, sometimes silly, and other times emotional, Sea of Stars does its RPG duty of exploring classic themes of adventure and friendship, while also being chock-full of the unexpected twists and events you’d expect from a Sabotage production.

There are many ways to hang out in the world of Sea of Stars if you feel the need for a change of pace in your adventures. Sailing, cooking, fishing, stopping by a tavern to listen to a song or play the infamous tabletop game known as "Wheels".....every system has been designed to deliver an experience that pays respect to retro classics, while rethinking in some areas to offer a smooth and modernized experience.

Sea of Stars’ adventure is playable in its entirety by up to three players. Allies can drop in and out anytime to traverse the world together and master the Co-op Timed Hits combat mechanic. Also available via Steam Remote Play Together.

Reviews

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Beautiful art, fun game play, and great story.
3 Character limit on party is super restrictive and feels dumb, totally killed my interest in the game. Only playing more to try out game mechanics.

Amazing nostalgic game for 90s babies.

The game has good core mechanics and some interesting gameplay ideas, but the narrative and design choices ultimate derail the experience, not completely, but enough that you feel awkward in some key narrative points. While some updates introduced some much-needed difficulty to fix what was previously a far too easy fight loop, the story and dialogue are still painfully blunt. The script severely downplays elements of body horror to an insane degree, completely trivialising events that should deeply disturb the characters, in front of her no less. Instead of letting the horror land and may have the character reflect on the moment, the narrative simply shuffles forward with a superficial "teehee look at this cute character design, doesn't it have a funny nickname" approach. This flat delivery then comes up again in a remarkably low-impact scene when the main characters are supposed to become who they were meant to be, turning a major milestone into a blink and you'll miss it moment. To make matters worse, players receive barely any resolution on the normal ending. Instead, the endgame structure transforms into a checklist of tasks required to unlock the true ending, something not everyone will want to complete. Ultimately, it feels like a title where the mechanical updates were the sole focus of development, leaving the story hard to push through. Could spoil the game for most, but the fighting kept me engaged enough, wish there wasn't so many reused enemy attacks though.
