Character building and gameplay gains new depth when working with a squad to build synergy and overcome increasingly difficult enemies. Rune Knights offers MANY ways for squads of up to 4 to work together and theorycraft.
11 Skill Trees, over 100 unique talents, more than 200 unique skills, 10+ Super Abilities, and over 150 legendary items let you build characters and playstyles that other games can't offer with their restricted progression systems. Invest in any skill tree at any time as you level up, and quickly respec your character if you decide to try something new or take advantage of particularly lucky loot.
Gear isn't just about stats. Each piece of gear has an ability assigned to it, which you can use once you equip it. Experimentation and improvisation are key to survival until you can afford to put the perfect build together.
You're in control of every aspect of your gear. Special crafting items drop from enemies and can be purchased in Town. These items allow you to upgrade your items, change their skills, and reroll their mods (sometimes to powerful Legendary mods).
Investing heavily in a skill tree can reward you with special Super abilities. These abilities charge up as you kill enemies, and allow you short windows of massive power once activated. Each skill tree has its own unique Super.
Legendary items can drop at any time, and provide unique and powerful ways to play and build your character. Certain Legendaries are only dropped from the most powerful enemies in the game. There are currently more than 150 legendaries to find and experiment with. Good luck collecting them all!
Recruit AI-controlled Companions to your party which have all the same customization options that you do. Equip them with any gear you find, customize their talents and flask effects, and put together your own ideal squad.
Over 60 different enemies including 15 unique Bosses and 15 powerful Elite enemies will require you to improvise and react quickly and tactically to overcome them.
Trade your items and currency with allies in game.
Crusades will test your build to the limits and allow you to customize your own difficulty in exchange for greater rewards. Excel and gain access to Raid bosses which will test your build, reflexes, and strategy against unique and difficult encounters. Infinite Arena pits your character against waves of increasingly difficult enemies and bosses for a chance to top the leaderboards. All of these can be done solo and with a party.

For the masochists. Hardcore characters are permanently deleted on death, have a separate gold collection and stash that can be accessed by other Hardcore characters, and can only trade with other Hardcore characters.
Rune Knights does not require an internet connection for solo play, because that's ridiculous. (Use Steam Offline Mode).
To preserve the integrity of leaderboards and the online games of players who don't wish to cheat, Rune Knights implements an anti-cheat that will close the game upon detecting an outside intrusion. Cheaters be warned.
Rune Knights is a cooperative, third-person, hack-and-slash action RPG focused on customization, crafting, and combat. Level up by killing monsters, collect loot, craft your own weapons and armor, and choose from over 120 unique talents and 60 different powerful abilities. Customize your character's aesthetics, stats, and gameplay as you battle through procedurally generated and hand-crafted levels with a variety of enemies and bosses.
Rune Knights is still early in development and I intend to let the community determine the future direction of the game. Please provide feedback about what you would like to see changed or added to the game. No suggestion is too big or too small.

This game is clearly early access, clearly very much a small team or 1 person project that said... Enemy behavior is pretty awful, enemies are all faster than you making it impossible to make space, they attack you in massive hordes while always having ranged units who can simply pick you off with impunity. Add to this the RNG nature of skills being tied to gear rather than something you build yourself or slot in yourself, and you're left with "gee I hope I can put a build together with the trash that drops." Gear stats are also highly irrelevant beyond a few key stats at low levels. enemies do so much damage that if you get hit it doesn't matter what you have on. Health recovery is non-existant. you get flasks at the rate of who gives a ♥♥♥♥ it's nowhere near enough. Anyways game has some serious issues and I would recommend people be aware of them, the more or less inability to increase your tankiness in the early game, the NRG skills tied to gear so not only do you need stats on your gear that you want but oh wait they need to have the right skills to. It's just in desperate need of a rethink. The game just added shadow/curse skills, well they all require a new resource to use, shadow something, well if you don't have any you can still use the skills, but they cost health if you do that... oh cool! oh wait there's basically no way to recover health. There also is no way to generate this resource, or at least I haven't found it, 1 spell lasts 6 seconds and puts some crap on the ground that if you attack enemies in you can generate it. cool cool... if you stand still you die. Then add to that that it is literally impossible to generate enough resource in 6 seconds to cast that spell again without a health cost. never mind that you're still not recovering health, and you have to sit still so you're getting your ass beat by the extremely overtuned enemies, who are also now interrupting you because they chew through your resolve bar in 2 hits. Yeah the game needs a ton more time in the oven and while there's potential here, I cannot reccomend this game as it is.

I'm a little surprised this title has a "very positive" review score right now. I mean the game feels VERY early, because it got jenky animations and feels clunky AF. I had to run around, in circles, for minutes killing a boss, which was using the same skills. And I was doing the same thing, over and over. Naaw, I wouldn't recommend this title at this time. I hope it'll get better and more polished soon.
it's alright, plays okay enough but it really looks like a bad unity asset flip game, attacks don't have enough impact, UI is awful, level design really isn't all that great for this type of game, you can literally jump out of the bounds of the hub world at any moment for fun, the armor dye system is stupid (random dye every time is just a stupid gold sink), I like how your skills are tied to your armor but that just means every time you get something better for that slot you have to buy the skill again so another gold sink... I know it's early access and it's the dev's first game but that doesn't excuse the fact that it needs more work put in.. I think I got it on sale, so whatever price i paid is ok, $15 might be a little steep considering other games you can get for that price... Recommending only cause it helps a small dev team. otherwise I wouldn't recommend
It has a broad variety of skills and ways to play alone or in my case a group of 3 ppl. For what it's worth, it offers more than enough enjoyment and I hope it get's the attention it deserves. If you just started playing it, don't give up right away. It is slackish in the start, especially for melees but it get's better the more you play.
Very rough game, it needs A LOT of polish
Terrible and unintuitive UI, theres a bunch of spells that require resources that there is no way to effectively generate. There is no logic to the loot system, for example you can get a two handed staff that has an affix that increases bow damage. Bug makes it so it is almost always impossible to reorder your skills on your bar. Crashes constantly. Game feel in general is bad And to top it all off one time when loading into a mission, the game reset me to level 1 naked character with all my loot deleted.
I was looking for a 3D Diablo-ish game, and ran across this one. Also, it has online co-op, which additionally what I was looking for. To be more precise, this is more like Path of Exile item crafting meets Diablo 1 equipment meets Elder Scrolls Online frantic combat. Since you can create a party of four characters, meaning you plus three AI controlled characters, combat can often feel very "all over the place" and not a controlled combat situation with tab targeting and tank/healer/etc. It is not a "hack and slash" style game where a button swings your main weapon, everything you do is a skill that is cast. I put around 10 hours into it before writing this review. Overall, I recommend the game. -> If you like games with no story, quick combat maps, and crazy build variety AND you can equip your other thee teammates just like your characters with skills, then this is THE GAME for you. The ability to create absolute skill synergies between all of your characters is the masterpiece in this game quite like no other. In addition, there is endgame, similar to "the pit" of Diablo 4 - go to higher and higher level areas with map modifiers to increase the magic find and rarity of the gear. So pick this one up and start blasting!
