About
Cryptr is a co-op dungeon crawler and hack and slash adventure with RPG elements. Pick a hero, step through a portal, fight down through a dungeon, topple the boss, and come back richer. Cryptr is a solo-developed indie game that brings together the works of many artists into one adventure, built to be fun first.
Play solo or team up with up to four players in online co-op. Empty party slots can fill with computer ally heroes who fight alongside you, level with you, and have your back. Revive downed friends, share the loot, and banter between the fights.
Cryptr features multiple playable classes, each with its own kit, ultimate ability, and talent tree:
Knight (sword and shield) ascends to the Paladin
Ranger (bow) ascends to the Warden
Wizard (spellcasting) ascends to the Necromancer
Berserker (dual melee weapons) ascends to the Ravager
Dwarf Brawler (bare-knuckle fists and kicks)
Druid (nature magic and party healing, shapeshifts into a towering Oak Tree Ent)
Master a base class to unlock a mightier Ascended class. Shape your hero with deep talent trees: spend points across themed paths, fork into build-defining keystones and capstones, and respec any time for a small gold fee.
Fight through hand-built dungeons across four named regions: the Ruins of Lordenfel, the Frostspire Citadel, the Drowned Coast, and the Blighted Sands. Objectives vary from spawner hunts and survival gauntlets to relic escorts and village defense. Bring down the boss waiting in the final dungeon.
Choose Relaxed, Normal, Hard, or Nightmare on the main menu. Higher difficulties pack denser hordes, more Elites, armored shield brutes, and run modifiers that change how a run plays. The best loot and biggest payouts come from the toughest crypts.
Weapons and cosmetics are randomly awarded at the end of each dungeon. These are color-coded by rarity, and can be customized at the merchant in the Tower. Earn Steam achievements as you go and unlock every Ascended form.
Cryptr plays the way you want it to. Enjoy full controller support throughout, with remappable keyboard and gamepad controls, and zoom all the way out for a twin-stick overhead view. Everyone sharing the PC gets their own save profile. And with the built-in Level Editor, you can build your own dungeons from the game's own art (eventually you will be able to play custom dungeons as well).

Game is buggy, doesn't tell you where to go, and more issues. Definitely has potential, but not worth it at the moment, especially for the price point of $12. Looking forward to its future, but at the moment I don't think its worth the money, Kinda stinky. The dev also in his reply, failed to mention I told him I would not only take down my review, rebuy a copy and try to experience the game again after its fixes, but ontop of threatening me, kicked me from his Discord, continued to talk about how his game is super cheap and I could have bought a copy when I was poor, (Not everyone can afford $11, thanks Dev.) and more, after telling him he didn't need to threaten me to take down the review, as I offered I would gladly do it, he blocked me again. Also, yes. While the game had stuff I DID like, it also was extremely buggy, having broken levelling, where 1 kill would level you up, then 3 would level you up, then 1 again, the map didnt work, dungeons had phasing through walls, enemies were broken and janky, and the UI was extremely confusing. I wasn't mad at the fact he DIDNT take my feedback (He literally stated he did when we talked). Also progression was literally impossible, couldn't get past the first area, when I brought this up to him I got no help on how to progress. The game has some okay parts, but the rest is kinda bad in terms of game size, performance, etc etc. (Gpu resource hog when I played, might of gotten fixed) I was mad at the fact he was willing to talk about it, but not very interested in hearing things out. Threatening someone and blocking them, is not a good look for a dev. I will edit my review to post some more major bullet points of the conversation if needed. I would love to say the good things about the game, like adding talent trees, some polish etc. Also saying he was not mad at the review, then going onto to say pretty much all my content on my youtube is trash just because he THINKS I want to grow it as a hobby and wanted to despirit me. He said we could have "avoided this whole situation if I had not left a negative review," but in reality, there is NO justification for threatening someone, nor holding a grudge for 3+ months, and continuing to follow someone, especially after they SAY they will comply with what you ask for without being threatened. Rather than continuing to argue, I hope the dev will just leave me alone, try to contact me further, and make amends so we can both continue in our daily lives as we move forward in both our gaming/hobbies, or real life. Continuing on, I have literally no reason to make a NOTHER steam account, buy several loads of games on it, then review OTHER products to make it look legit. I have only ever had a single account on Steam, and thats how it will remain. And calling someone an incel is hilariously childish of you, also in no way shape or form you have never mentioned its your dog, nor did I hate your dog. I would like to point out, any review that is negative and not from me, isnt also me. Thats someone else, so saying its me every time is gonna be fairly annoying. (Pic of dev calling me an incel https://gyazo.com/103b860ad5c0dae780e6a62e2699d575 ) Update: Been 9 months and dev refuses to leave me alone on my platforms, as well as exclude info from him in our convo of him being mean. Got me in tears, truly.

This game is currently rough around the edges, but I'm very much enjoying the constant updates. I've only played a few hours so far since release, but have seen a huge improvement in terms of graphics, gameplay, content, and bug fixes. Fast paced combat and movement mixed with varied character abilities and level design give a lot of promise to where this will go in the future. I definitely recommend to anyone willing to invest in what appears to be a passionate and skilled developer.
Fun dungeon crawler. For early development, gameplay is pretty smooth on mid level hardware. Combat can feel a little clunky but is still pretty quick regardless. Leveling could use some work. Trying to assign talent points on level up is seemingly not working. You can access the talent point menu but cant assign points to anything. Map design is fun to look at. Overall worth checking out and looking forward to further development.
Impressive stuff here, the game has a bright future!
There is a unique aspect to this game that I have not found in any others I've played. The post processing and lighting effects make Cryptr visually stunning and they are present in all the numerous areas, each one different from the last. Game play mechanics are also silky smooth and satisfying -- perfect for a hack and slash. The physics are solid, but also catch you by surprise in the best ways. I definitely recommend Cryptr, especially for people who appreciate exploration in a game. Go forth and discover!
Saw this game was on discount and picked it up. Here's my review after about 8 hours of play. The sale price is generous considering there's around 23 gigs of content to explore. I love the camera effects and the UI! The amount of playable characters gives the game a nice RPG feel although it's somewhat basic. The talent trees feel like a step in the right direction there. Hoping there will be more playable classes added! I had the most fun with the casters and the dual wield classes. Wish that some enemies would attack faster as sometimes it takes a moment for them to engage. There's only vendor so the in-game currency might benefit from adding new purchasable items from new vendors. Judging by the amount of patches and what the developer has posted so far I think there's a lot of potential for a simple hack and slash style game like this one. If you don't mind a few relatively minor bugs, like certain enemies at times able to walk through walls on some levels, then you just might like this game, too. The bugs I did encounter didn't detract from the majority of the game being a fun experience for such a cheap game.
Got this game a while back but had to get a refund. Really wanted to like this game, I love RPG's! But it seems very unplayable atm. Enemies rush up to you sounding like they will tear you apart then just stand there, while you casually one shot them! (I was lvl 1) Would like to see if down the road it can get fixed. Might try it later if the dev fixes it, it did look like it had some great potential!
50% off, and immediately felt ripped out of 5$, how can this even be a 12$ game? couldn't even play for more than 15 minutes, here's why. The game is INCREDIBLY buggy, very lame, and way too lacklustre. Attacking felt delayed and super janky, dishing out combos was unreliable, rolling felt like slipping on ice and the GUI feels incredibly scuffed, way too large or way too condensed. Most of the assets styles and quality are inconsistent and non-cohesive. The styles for most GUIs like inventory vs stat distribution screen also are incredibly inconsistent. The animations are also terrible, I couldn't even distribute my stats when I leveled up, UI layout and buttons are scuffed, and I couldn't tell or see if I had stat points to spend when I leveled up a couple times, on top of this, you cannot get new gear such as new weapons, armors, trinkets or shields to equip to advocate build diversity or anything Would also like to say I noticed health bars on enemies disappear, and skeletons would float when walking off of obstacles or platforms, and AI would constantly ignore me to run away. Trees also had issues with rendering and the game is like 8 gigabytes and the files are massive, and lack optimization The main menu is of a dog (skinwalker) and at first I thought I was playing as the dog itself. Loading screens would freeze as well. Everytime I'd die my character would let me spin in circles and icons for skills don't have timers or active cooldowns displayed either. There are many other games by solo or small indie developers I could compare this game to that are just as cheap like Rune Knights, or going a little further, Dungeons of Sundaria. Another dungeon crawler related indie game. This game does have a couple things going for it however like class diversity, and would probably make for a good story driven dungeon crawler, has potential, just hasn't realized any of it yet. Would also like to see many more mechanics and fixes. As it is, game should be free. Code is probably recycled, and the assets seems like they're probably just free unity store assets.
cute little indie game. impressive for a solo developer. they have been responsive to my emails about bugs. the game needs some work but it's fun and has potential for being early access
Considering this is v0.1, this is a great showing for a first game. While I would say there are better games for the same $5 price tag, if you've already played those and are looking to just experiment with early-access indie games on Steam, you could do a lot worse than Cryptr. Controls/movement feel slippery and don't provide much feedback, but the exploration is where it shines at this point in development. It's also being actively developed, as the game has come a long way from when I first tried it months ago, so if you're interested in tracking how a developer's first indie game goes about being developed, this would make an interesting case study.
