About

█ ROUTINE is a First Person Sci-Fi Horror title set on an abandoned lunar base designed around an 80s vision of the future.
Curious exploration turns into a need for survival when a lunar base goes completely quiet. Searching for answers puts you face to face with an enemy who is certain the main threat is you. Discoveries lead to deeper unknowns and the only way to go is forward. ▌
Note: ROUTINE offers no waypoint markers, finding your way is part of the experience. Slow down, observe your surroundings, explore carefully, and review data to uncover the path forward.
█ EXPLORE: Roam through contrasting sectors of the lunar base, from deteriorating living quarters and tram stations to an abandoned mall. ▌
█ OBSERVE: Investigate your surroundings and uncover crucial information to progress and piece together the events that unfolded before your arrival. ▌
█ IMMERSE: Full body awareness, diegetic audio, and minimal UI help create a gripping and atmospheric experience. ▌
█ OPERATE: Your Cosmonaut Assistance Tool (C.A.T.) is vital. Use it to access critical terminals, navigate the environment and identify clues. ▌
█ SURVIVE: Run, hide, or attempt to defend yourself against unknown threats using the C.A.T. as a last resort. ▌

pacing was amazing, sounds and visuals 10/10.
Immaculate spooky retro-future vibes, mysterious & sensical-enough plot, great environmental story telling, awesome diagetic menus, solid puzzles, and the worst stealth "gameplay" I've experienced in awhile. I'm a sucker for clicky clacky chonky computer stuff though so I still loved this.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Its just like Dark Souls but with a laser gun, running away from scary robots
please do not listen to what negative reviews, this was the greatest game i have ever touched. the story had me obsessed and the visuals and audio just trap you in the world. this game is perfect.
A great horror game that scratches all the correct alien vibes with a story that surprisingly feels fresh and great gameplay due to the functionalities of the CAT. Graphicswise it feels like watching found footage from the VHS era.
For starters the whole atmosphere is superb. The retro-futuristic style, that 70s flair visuals, the audio design, the diegetic UI,...it comes together very well. The gameplay itself was actually pretty basic: Follow your tasks, move forward, if you stuck review all your info's and/or backtrack. Its very linear, there is no alternative solutions and no second ending. All the steam achievements are just story progression. Some of the puzzles are probably a bit hard to solve for the general audience but its doable. You probably spending most of your time sprinting around and guessing how the developer wanted you to solve this puzzle; no handholding there. The game suffers from a lot of unrealism for the sake of gamification. Things come into mind like: -The robots design, which are suppose to be simple security guards, yet look like monsters with sharp teeth. -The C.A.T tool and the puzzles you solve often make no sense, like its EMP functionality which is one of its main functionalities and apparently every technician casually carries with him doing things like blasting a breaker box to restart a door computer?! -You can't bring a single battery with you in reserve, when you low on battery you have to find a fresh battery here and now. With ample supply laying around, it just serves to create local, artificial scarcity. -You cant aim while not standing, and when you accidentally try to aim while laying as you e.g. try to hide somewhere, it makes your character stand up. -You have to use your C.A.T tool as a flashlight but first are not allowed to just use your eyes and instead can only use it through its very bad CRT monitor and second at one point your character suddenly just flips on a way better helmet flashlight for certain sections of the game which you are not allowed to use yourself. -Your C.A.T can supposedly download media files from terminals, yet will not download the tons of text you suppose to read. If you need to read it again, you need to backtrack. -Your C.A.T comes with a screen that clearly is capable of being freely programmed, yet all the data stored on it, like videos, can only be accessed through special projector terminals in the world. -Security doors can be opened but not closed, failing the purpose of a restricted access doorway. -Enemy AI patrols aimlessly or gets teleported, with no logical explanation. Sometimes right in front of you because you triggered something. -Enemies just give up chasing you even when they saw were you went and even can still see you if you are in a crawl space. They just cant get inside, awkwardly stand in front it and then forget about you while you tickle their toes. -While supposedly being in constant danger you casually find time to listen to cassette tapes in cassette players you cant take with you at full volume. -You start the game supposedly as a software engineer to fix a problem in the security computer system, yet you never do anything in the entire game that would support that. If anything you are a Level 1 or 2 customer support technician how you approach problems and fix them. -There are just the things that came to my mind just now.... Generally the game suffers from awkward design decisions like: -No leaning with Q and E but only by holding SPACE + A/D. You can also SPACE + W/S to tiptoe and lay flat which is exactly useful once because the game makes progression impossible if you don't use it. -You can only stand or throw yourself on your belly, there is no intermediate. The game basically discourages you from sneaking. You lay down if necessary, wait and keep sprinting through the game. -At first I thought I'm playing this game on easy or something because you get drowned in fresh batteries, plus there are infinite battery pools of partially charged batteries everywhere, making the battery system kinda pointless. -Enemies are extremely basic. There is only 2 types. One for each main part of the game. They are basically deaf and blind outside their front FOV. So its really just scoop behind cover when they approach and when they passed you, you can walk right behind them and they don't notice. If they saw you, stun them, run out of their FOV and you good. No other interactability. -The story is told through few cassette tapes and a lot of text in static terminals you can only read in that terminal. If you don't pay close attention, you miss crucial things. Yet the game doesnt pause while reading or allows you to record it for later. It seems like most terminals are in artificial safe zones from enemies but you cant know that so you constantly reading them under pressure, making it easy to miss something. You also cant access other terminals texts without backtracking so you better have a good memory over game sessions. -and more... The story is actually pretty basics and cliché. You experience it through two consecutive main parts of gameplay which give the impression the developments themselves didnt even know how to logically stitch together. The first part is still pretty solid, fulfilling your expectations from the trailers of a retro-SciFi survival horror game but turns on its heels and leads the story in a completely new direction in the second part, turning the story into some weak attempt on psychological terror, Lovecraftian horror. Leading is doing heavy lifting here. Time and time again you find yourself asking what is happening and what you are suppose to do and need to consult the task list to guess the way forward. The ending is anticlimactic. It was still fun to play, but I also see a lot of potential wasted. So I don't recommend it. At least not for the full price. If you still intrigued, try it when you see it cheaper.
Realized I hate horror games because of how arbitrarily irritating they are. Trying to put in a pass code into a terminal. Got to 3 numbers. Hit a robot with the stun gun and I was running past even though he was sparking stunned he grabbed me and killed me. Just plain annoying. Sometimes he throws you sometimes he kills you. No healthbar. There's an arbitrariness about horror games I can't stand.
