Risen 1 is the only truly worthwhile entry in the series and that's a shame For me back then Risen 1 was the real successor to Gothic 3 the true Gothic 4 in spirit It may have been smaller in scale but it was still amazing Risen 1 captured the atmosphere the challenge and the sense of adventure that defined the studio’s best work before everything went to ♥♥♥♥ The continuity from Risen 1 to Risen 2 sucked the pirate stuff felt randomly shoved in just because of the Pirates of the Caribbean hype at the time I am glad THQ decided to remake Gothic 1 because this could be the start of an amazing new remake trilogy And maybe someday Risen will make a comeback but only if they completely remake the other two games because as they stand they cannot be fixed and the story sucked After Risen 1 Piranha Bytes went downhill Risen 2 was garbage Risen 3 was a tiny step up but still nowhere near Risen 1 and holy shi,t Gothic 4 was a disaster Things only started to crawl back with Elex 1 which was decent but then Elex 2 came out rushed unpolished and clearly unfinished It was still okay but nowhere near what it should have been So in the end we basically only got one somewhat solid game after Risen 1 and that was Elex 1 everything else was either rushed or trash

Contrary to the Gothic games, that were a hassle to run on Linux/Deck, this one runs great straight out of the box, good stuff! This is an interesting game, it's like a perfect bridge between the raw jankiness of a classic RPG and, on the other side, some mechanics/tech from newer and more console friendly RPGs. Very 2009. The somewhat mediterranic atmosphere is very charming and kinda unique.
tbh I wish I could have my 2$ and 19 hours of playtime back. Game is janky but nice until third chapter where all fun parts are throwed into the window and you must endure endless sequences of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ combat. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ combat was manageble before because you could always call for Fred (the skeleton), the only good thing in this world, but in the third act some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ made a goal of his life to put endless antimagic crystals in every corner, so Fred is unsummoned at every step. In general, that is simply a ragebait game. Maybe I will endure this until the end later, but I do not recommend this experience to anyone. My hopes that other games in series are better than this. God, even Gothic 3 is better than this, and Gothic 3 by any means not pinnacle of game design.

Моя первая игра, которую я купил в Стиме. Знаю, что Готика у большинства игроков занимает важную роль в их геймерской жизни, но Ризен ничем не хуже. Сохранены многие фишки и особенности всех частей Готики. Лором, конечно, особо не пахнет, но сюжет первой части довольно неплох и исследовать мир интересно.
