Great game, I was initially on the fence but I got it on my Switch and it's really fun Also I have a crush on Cadence now
Gameplay: 7/10 The gameplay is very similar to guitar hero, except the notes are dungeon crawler themed (zombies, dragons, chicken legs). It is very addictive, not requiring much thought, but mostly focusing on rhythm and pattern recognition. It is a very accessible game. Tracks only last about 4 minutes, meaning that you can take short gaming sessions or longer gaming sessions. The difficulties ranging from easy to impossible allows for new players to enter and provides a challenge for veterans. Art/Music: 8/10 The art and music are the main focus of this game. The tracks range from funk to metal to surf and everything in between. On top of that, custom music can be imported. Most of the tracks are phenomenal in my opinion (especially Alex Moukala's), while others are mediocre. The art style is appealing, but nothing amazing. Story: 4/10 The story is not the main draw of the game, the music is. With that being said, the story seems like more of a storyboard than a fully fleshed narrative. It mostly acts as a vehicle to introduce characters, segue between musical tracks, and tell silly jokes (some of which are funny, others that are cringeworthy). Overall, I'm somewhat disappointed because I think that 5 to 10 minute animated cutscenes with voice acting between musical tracks would make this a much better gaming experience. Overall: 6/10 I bought this game on sale for about $8 and I'm very satisfied with that decision. After a long, boring day at work, this kind of stimulating game that focuses on fast-paced music is very fun. I wouldn't buy it for more than $10-15. This is the kind of game you buy on sale, see if you like it, and buy the DLC you're interested in. Speaking of which, the pizza tower and va11-ha11a DLC look pretty cool.
Absolute banger of a game. 10/10. Played with a leverless hitbox to get familiar with it since I've never used one before and had a blast.
