i loved the first two games in this series, and I was pleasently surprised by this prequel.. the combat, music, story, pacing, all top tier, amazing job!
A perfect prequel to a perfect series. All three Plague Tale games have the most incredible story, the most stunning visuals and the most insane soundtracks of all time.

This game trades away, what in my opinion is the strongest aspect of the other 2 plague tale games, that is the story. The gameplay changes are .. fine, pretty cookie cutter. The character arcs of Amicia and Hugo and their bond were the emotional heart of the other 2 games, and this one lacks anything comparable. I couldn't bring myself to care about either the overarching plot or the myriad of side characters we are introduced to and part with in a blink of an eye. The combat mechanics have all the necessary parts like parrying, dodging, counter etc, but there is a lack of fluidity which leads to the fights becoming quite repetitive after your first few encounters. It's a shame, because the art, the music and the environmental design are all top tier and are let down by these other shortcomings.
Its just a masterpiece. Just play it
