Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This is more a review of this specific port than the game itself. Resident Evil 2 is an incredible game and I genuinely love it. However, I cannot recommend this port, instead I'd urge you to pick the GOG port instead if you want to play it on PC. This port is mostly the same as the GOG support but with two crucial differences that ruin the experience for the Steam version: 1. GOG is DRM-free while Steam has Enygma DRM - The Enygma DRM was broken for Linux users and required workarounds until a fix in Proton 11 2. Steam Input is utterly broken in this game - While it has a "partial controller support" tag, it really only supports pure-play XInput devices 3. Steam has NO CLOUD SAVE; GOG does have cloud save - Now this is a no-brainer, there really is no reason to not have it in the age of the Steam Deck I'd love to give this release a positive rating because it's otherwise fairly stable. There were just some ridiculous decisions and lack of support that just makes this release difficult to recommend over the GOG release that's much more accessible.

Capcom is adding DRM Enigma Protector to their back catalog of games. Prevents modding, cheat engine, and reduces performance by up to 10-15 fps with stutters. (Also Capcom being hostile to Valve's testing of their games for the Steam Deck makes them major ♥♥♥♥ heads while I'm at it) Go eff yourself, Capcom. I will not be buying future Biohazard titles due to you wanting to install Malware (hello Super [strike]Dynamic Cooking Time[/strike] Ultra HD Remix Rootkit Fighter 5! being the start of this) in the attempt to fight cheating in mostly single-player titles. (Emulate or if you MUST buy Biohazard 1-3, get them off Good Old Games [the porters of THIS version], it's literally the same game without the EnigmaDRMalware.dll AND supports Cloud Saves, for whatever baffling reason GOG/Capcom didn't put them in this depot: https://www.gog.com/en/game/resident_evil_2 )
This game is my childhood My first survival horror Still peak even to this day Claire really became one of my fav chars and I even got her action figure I really love this game to death and REmake 2 did it justice Love the classic aesthetic plus the constant feel of dread The hand drawn backgrounds and camera angles are a whole vibe Yeah the janky controls can feel dated but it has its charm 10/10
An upgrade to RE1 on every level possible, it was pretty good. In comparison to RE2R, there are of course some parts that haven't aged well (puzzles are too simple, bosses are worse, Mr X of this game is just kind of there and not as menacing) but it does some things better than the remake. The route system is much better in this one; items you pick up effect the other route directly and it was nice to see how Leon and Claire's stories interject with each other. Thanks to fixed camera I also think this game does the "horror" aspect a bit better. Definitely worth playing, offers a different perspective from Remake. Even though they are "same" games, they are very different in their own approach to game design.
doesn't work on steam deck
Alright I'm going to make this as clear as possible. IGNORE all of these negative reviews, seriously... 100% of them are lies and herding/bandwagon hopping. I spent at least 30 minutes scrolling through every negative review of this game, and then proceeded to purchase and play it, just for the sake of owning this great collection, and debunking the BS, because I am very tired of all these little snowflakes whining and review bombing things just because they are bored. Liars and propoganda spreaders should be held accountable. Anyway! There are countless reviews complaining about DRM, tanking, malware, bad port, bad controls, etc, but none of them are true. I'm about to go through the entire list of complaints that I've seen and completely debunk them, so that you don't have to listen to lies and be afraid to purchase a good game. 1. DRM bad *cry*. People are whining about the DRM and how it censors the game and makes your computer work 110% to run. Complete load of crap. I loaded the game, played through the first segment, killed zomibies, and then took a screenshot of Leon in the gun shop. I then loaded the GOG version and did the same thing. NO difference in performance, graphics, or gameplay whatsoever. These people are junk herding, trying to fit in with the crowd and complain about DRM just because everyone else is, they are sheep that should not be taken seriously. They are also modders who are crying because they can't run around with a plus size busty naked Claire. Who the hell mods a 27 year old game? They are also people who only use Steam Deck or Linux, that's their problem. Games are best for Windows, deal with it. Lie debunked. 2. The game changes your registry and it's maleware/Russian spyware. Biggest croc of sh*t I've ever heard. Why is it Russian spyware? Because they are currently at war? Fking cringe. Honestly, grow up. I pay a lot for premium anti-virus and it picked nothing up, it takes 2 seconds and the game runs fine once you do it. All it adds are save file data and other tweaks for the game to run properly. I'm willing to bet that all of these people crying about performance issues and errors didn't update the registry and that's why it's happening. That's a them problem. - Lie debunked. 3. Bad port, graphics are bad, screen is stretched, laggy gameplay, GOG is better. This is also a lie. I wish Steam would let me share screenshots on this review, just to show you. I took two side-by-side shots of GOG and Steam version, literally 0 difference. (And before you say "tHiS gAmE DoEsN'T leT yOu tAkE ScreEnshots cuZ no OVERLayYY" I use the NVIDIA App to take my screenshots and recording, and it WORKS on this game. Try investing in a local streaming/recording app instead of relying on Steam.) Anyway, 0 difference. At all. These people are just making stuff up, or they are blind. Probably just used to modern graphics. Lie Debunked. 4. Controller doesn't work. Another bs lie. The first message I got when launching the game was that controller is supported. It works fine, and it works the exact same way as GOG. No key binding issues, no clunky lazy controls, it works. The people complaining about this are just noobs who probably play Fortnite and modern games and don't know how classic tank controls from 1999 work. Stop going around to classic games from 25 years ago and leaving bad reviews just because you're used to your twerking fortnite characters and CoD trash. Lie debunked. 5. Major censorship, no blood or dismemberment. Lie again, when playing I killed zombies and got bitten on purpose, there is blood, arms falls off, it's very rare to happen but it happens. Stop lying, lie debunked. 6. Can't open the first door of the game (gunshop). Big lie. Not only can you open doors, but you can skip the animation too. Gtfo. - Lie debunked. 7. Binding and controls are broken. I seen people saying that the shoot and aim button are the same resulting in unintentional firing of your gun, plus buttons don't work, the D-pad is broken and the character is constnatly turning to one side. Lies lies lies, none of that happened for me, the controller works just like GOG. Lie debunked. 8. DRM and game itself requires 6+ GB of VRAM to run and makes your computer slow. Lie, the game is smooth, literally no difference from GOG. Lie debunked. 9. The gane crashes a lot, when saving, it also makes your browser tabs crash! Bs lie. Game has not crashed once and why the damn hell would it effect your internet browser? Complete load of garbage. - Lie debunked. The only reviews that are true is that there is no steam overlay, screenshot capability or achievments. But who the hell cares? It's a 27 year old game lmao. There are a ton more negative reviews and all of them have some half-arsed excuse or made up crap that I can't be bothered doccumenting every single one, they are all just nonsensical nothingburgers. The majority of these negative reviwers have barely any gameplay, they only played for the minimum 5 minute requirement just so they could review bomb. People just love to complain now, their life is too boring for anything else so they try to feel important by crying and fishing for likes and attention, and it needs to be properly dealt with. But I digress. As for the actual game! It's a masterpeice. RE2 has always been a favourite of mine since childhood and it will always hold up, even in 2026 it's still a classical entry to the franchise, and honestly it kickstarted the genre even moreso than RE1 did. My official review/advice? Don't be a sheep, don't listen to shallow attention seeking lies, do your own research, and buy this game! You will have a great time on it. [Edit, played for longer than an hour now, not a single problem. gg]
I legitimately have nothing to complain. In every way this is a step up from the previous game.
This is a masterpiece
