Dino Crisis

Got this as I thought a re-release may have some minor extras or benefits over emulating via a playstation emulator. I was sorely dissapointed - the game doesn't even implement the most simple Xinput. Avoid and just emulate it

Old, clunky and undeniably charming, Dino Crisis is definitely showing it's age, but it's still a good enough time. As Regina and Team, you try to capture a doctor and also find out what went wrong on a remote island. Here's what went wrong: dinosaurs! The game features tank controls, which isn't everyone's cup of tea, and the usual early PS1 survival horror combination of warbly textures, a lot of backtracking and very limited resources. Still, it's a very atmospheric game that rewards clever use of resources, mixing of healing items and knowing when to use your limited plugs on resource boxes. It also rewards remembering where what paths lead, because the map is meh at best. This makes it pretty immersive, and sometimes a bit frustrating. The game is also pretty hard as dinosaurs can kill you easily and killing them isn't always the best option; sometimes you just have to run away or fire a sleeping dart. There's two modes, the original japanese or the arranged mode, with different codes, item locations (I believe) and continue amounts between them. Personally, I prefer the original Japanese version, if only because you get 30 continues compared to 5, and save rooms are few and far between. If you can handle some clunkiness, there is a lot of charm to be found in Dino Crisis. Between the old school tank controls, confusing facility layout, strong and cool dinosaurs and a cheesy story script, it's a good time for a few hours.

Awesome game that still stands tall against the tides of time, 25 years later. Clever level design, nice polished look from the late years of the PS1, fun puzzles (that btw don't involve jewels or cranks), solidly told plot. There's nothing not to like about this game, and if you're familiar with the RE series, you will feel home right away. It just ticks those boxes that only Capcom games can. Bummers: the alternate outfits are unlocked from the beginning and you get the thing you used to have to play thrice through the game for, right after one single playthrough. Highly recommened. Now go and kick some dino ass, cause playtime is officially over, kiddies.

If you've never played Dino Crisis, you're in for something special. It's not just "Resident Evil with dinosaurs", it has its own identity, blending survival horror, action, and puzzle-solving into an experience that still feels unique decades later. The atmosphere is fantastic. Knowing that fast, intelligent dinosaurs can appear around almost any corner creates a level of tension that's very different from fighting slow zombies. Every encounter feels dangerous, and conserving resources is just as important as staying alive. Regina is an excellent protagonist, the story is entertaining, and the setting keeps you engaged from beginning to end. The puzzles strike a nice balance, encouraging exploration without becoming frustrating, and the game's pacing rarely slows down. Of course, the game shows its age with fixed camera angles and tank controls, but that's part of its charm. Once you adjust, the gameplay becomes incredibly satisfying. The pre-rendered backgrounds still look beautiful, and the soundtrack does a great job of building suspense. Capcom did a great job bringing this classic to Steam. It's wonderful to see such an important survival horror game become easily accessible again. If you're a fan of survival horror, dinosaurs, or simply want to experience one of Capcom's most underrated classics, Dino Crisis is absolutely worth your time.

It felt like a puzzle game that had dinosaur added to it.

Es la primera vez que lo juego y me gusto bastante, No se porque Capcom no le saca un remake. Pero bueno me gusto mucho pero hay mas puzzles que dinosaurios la csm capcom me mate una hra para codificar un codigo. Pd: Regina la dueña de mis quincenas

Wish Capcom would go ahead and remake this already, BUT it is still pretty great. The controls are even a bit cleaner than the first Resident Evil, especially since you can move while aiming firearms. This game drips atmosphere while not taking itself too seriously, and the puzzles are solid. Nothing mind bending, but still fun to work your way through. Would recommend!
