Нуу... Это не так интересно, как кажется. Игра не похожа на обычные поделки на RPG Maker, но всё же не дотягивает до хорошей игры.
Слишком дорого для таких пикселей

I have't played much of Red Gate game to recommend it, nor do I intend to. This game lacks context, guidance, and even a proper story progression besides the intro dialogue before you play. There is the settings to view the controls and volume, but tbh I haven't seen any purpose to use interact key "J" as most of the action is done using attack key "K". Beyond that, is a repetitive flip between being a human soldier, then a monster, then a human again and rinse and repeat. The screen sizing is also terrible for my computer, and I can't adjust nor fix it. The goal is unclear and confusing, I just spent the entire time running to every object I can see and spamming "K" on them until it did smth. Lack of NPC interaction, further dialogue and random decors/objects that can't be interacted with also furthers my confusion. Since it's still in EAG status, I cannot recommend this game as it is now.
Short Review
Not worth checking out. Hobbyist game via Gamemaker. No story and no clear goal. Barely explains what to do and gameplay isnt really worth it. There are many better games out there. Its apparently something you have to pay for but i have it for some reason for free.
Ta gra to jakieś wielkie gówno. Jedyne co mi się podobało do soudtrack, nic więcej. Gierka z kosza, nie polecam kupowania tego gniota... 1/10
Red Gate is a small but ambitious indie adventure that builds its identity around mystery, duality, and the unsettling allure of forbidden power. Set in a remote land on the brink of military conflict, the game casts you as an ordinary soldier suddenly caught in a legend far more dangerous than the war surrounding you. The mysterious Red Gate—an object of myth and dread—promises strength to those who enter it, but every promise carries a price. This premise sets the tone for an experience that mixes grounded duty with supernatural consequence, inviting the player to step between two worlds and piece together the truth behind a force that reshapes both reality and fate. Even in its earliest moments, Red Gate shows a strong desire to blend narrative tension with mechanical experimentation. The structure of the game revolves around traveling between your home world and the realm that lies beyond the gate, each offering different resources, atmospheres, and dangers. In the otherworldly plane, you collect soul points from strange inhabitants who react to your presence in unpredictable ways, while in the regular world you turn those souls into upgrades or purchase items using meat points, the game’s unusual form of currency. This creates a loop where progression relies not just on combat or exploration but on a kind of ritualistic back-and-forth travel. The concept is intriguing because it suggests that power is never freely given—you gain strength only by interacting with a strange and haunted dimension that shapes your abilities as much as your morality. The world design reinforces this sense of parallel realities: familiar landscapes sit beside twisted, dream-like versions of themselves, creating a mild psychological tension as you move back and forth between the two. Where Red Gate struggles is not in its ideas but in its execution. As an Early Access title, it shows clear signs of being unfinished, with systems that appear only partially implemented and mechanics that feel more like prototypes than refined gameplay features. Simple actions such as pausing, saving, or interacting with menus are limited or missing, leaving players with only the most basic control functions. Combat, progression, and exploration are all present, but bugs frequently interfere with the flow; enemies that fall out of the scene can halt the story entirely, and certain actions may soft-lock the game, forcing a restart. These issues reveal a fragile foundation that undermines what could otherwise be a compelling, layered adventure. The game’s technical shortcomings overshadow the intriguing worldbuilding, making it difficult for many players to fully engage with its deeper ideas. Visually, Red Gate adopts a minimalist retro aesthetic, using simple pixel-style graphics and understated environments to evoke an old-school atmosphere. The art direction suits the project’s themes of isolation and liminality, but it is clear from the start that the game relies more on mood than on visual flair. Characters, animations, and environmental details are functional rather than expressive, giving the game an austere look that may appeal to fans of very low-fidelity indie projects. The sparse presentation, however, also emphasizes the game’s unfinished state, as the lack of refinement in its visuals and interface can make the experience feel more like a rough prototype than a fully realized artistic statement. Despite these limitations, Red Gate’s narrative potential remains one of its strongest qualities. The interplay between duty and temptation, between the real world and the world beyond the gate, gives the story a subtle tension that hint at deeper moral questions. The idea of gaining power in exchange for confronting a dangerous unknown carries thematic weight, and the game’s premise—protecting a country while wrestling with the metaphysical consequences of your choices—could have grown into something emotionally resonant if supported by a stable framework. That potential is felt throughout the experience, even if it is not fully delivered in its current state. As it stands, Red Gate is a project defined by ambition and hindered by incompleteness. It contains the seeds of a unique action-adventure hybrid with metaphysical undertones, a dual-world structure, and a protagonist caught between conflicting obligations. Yet the game’s technical fragility, lack of essential features, inconsistent updates, and frequent progression issues weigh heavily on its promise. For players who enjoy exploring unfinished indie experiments and can tolerate instability, Red Gate may offer a fascinating glimpse into a world with compelling ideas. But for those seeking a polished or reliable journey, the experience remains too rough to recommend without caution. Rating: 3/10
