Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3.43/day in the week to Jul 30 → 4.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 7: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Oh boy, oh boy - Psychonauts is about as much of a mixed bag as it gets. I feel like this is one of those games I could’ve had massive nostalgia for if I had played it back in my early years. The game absolutely overflows with creative ideas, it’s charming, and it’s smartly humorous
(the Milkman level definitely deserves a shoutout here)
. And don’t even get me started on the German voice-over - it’s pure gold. Buuuut that brings me straight to the downsides: the great voice acting is often overshadowed by really poor audio mixing. Some characters, like Mikhail, are almost impossible to understand at times. Background noises are sometimes louder than the voices, and certain voice lines repeat so often that they eventually become downright annoying. Another big problem - maybe the biggest one I have with this game - is how often it left me confused and unsure about how to progress. I don’t know, maybe I’m just a little dumb, but I had to look up solutions for bosses, puzzles, and platforming sections so frequently that it hurt my enjoyment quite a lot. It got so bad that I kind of had to force myself to finish the game,
which didn’t help considering the last level is pretty infamous for its difficulty spike
. A friend of mine
(hi Phil)
thinks Psychonauts is an overrated game, but I strongly disagree. I’d rather describe the game as an unpolished diamond that’s missing a good amount of refinement. So even though I have my complaints about Psychonauts, I’d still recommend this classic - its charm is just too hard to ignore.
I was once playing five nights at flumpies and it kinda like made me pee pee my pants. This game reminds me of a different situation entirely, i just wanted to say that. Thank you. I copy pasted this review for the game prey, this is actually a Prey review. Thank you.
It's a shame this game was a commercial failure at launch. I feel a lot of people back then missed out on something really special here. The animations are pretty insane for the time. You really don't even see facial animations this good in 99% of modern games. There is so much unique dialogue throughout, even when reading signs. The game also lets you hit anything and anyone you want. It's funny, for not being some massive open world game, it's a lot closer to making you feel like you can truly do anything. As for the aesthetics, taste in art is subjective, obviously. However, I feel like they've come up something unique, yet familiar here. It's a sort of 50s Americana, cartoon style, with a bit of a painted clay figurine look that's quite enjoyable to me. Gameplay-wise, I wouldn't say it's full of some completely industry changing mechanics that you'll think about for the rest of your life. That said, what is here is very competently done. I don't remember ever feeling frustrated with the controls. More than that, I think the level design is really where most of the fun in gameplay is to be had. Every "mindscape" had something unique that kept an otherwise simple gameplay style from getting old quick. I'll finish off by saying that there are a few minor annoyances. One is from the game being locked in 4:3 aspect ratio, something that is almost seamlessly fixed with one mod. The other is common to a lot of games of this era and before, which is that there is some stuff that you must do at very specific times in the game if you want to 100% complete it. The game gives you no real indicators for this, The completion rate might not be that big of a deal to you, but I do think it's a shame to miss out on voice acted cutscenes because of it. Anyways, with all of that said, the game was very clearly a labor of love, and I'm happy to have finally played it.
I am biased - I grew up with Tim Schafer's games - The Secret of Monkey Island and Grim Fandango are amongst my favourite games of all time. If a game is made by Double Fine Productions, its worth buying! This platformer has the point and click dialogue and humor, with some good well designed levels of platforming fun. Anyway. For this one , I'm playing it in 2026 on Windows 11, GTX 5080, 16GB RAM. "Out of the box" this game doesnt look good - and if you use ultrawide its even worse. Also, some of the controls aren't explained clearly enough in the early game. So here goes: 1. Essential mod - 2021 HD AI Upscale and Cutscenes (and its pre-requisites explained on the page) https://www.nexusmods.com/psychonauts/mods/4?tab=posts&BH=0 2. Vsync MUST be turned on in settings (I'm using a gsync monitor, but I think it doesnt matter) - because if you dont turn it on, some actions in the game are tied to framerate and will bug out (The flag raising at the end of the first level for example). 3. on an XBOX controller - the Y button is used to change the direction you are swinging , when pole jumping etc. This is an absolute classic of a game, good humour (although some slightly risque stuff by today's standards) - good challenge and just feels like the good ol' days :) 9/10 - would set fire to squirrels again.
When I played this as a wee baby on PlayStation 2 it BLEW my mind, but drove me a bit crazy on the controls. Happy to report it controls pretty great overall on PC, better than it did back in the day. Come for an amazing story, wonderful gameplay, imaginative worlds, and great writing. What else could you ask for??? Seriously this is a top 5 game of all time for me. Play it! It’s time!
