Ein schönes Adventure, aber diese Steuerung ey, die kratzt am Daumen hoch schon echt hart.
Great puzzles, nothing too ridiculously hard (just be patient and look for things or use things you already have in a different way - same as all these style games). Loved the Sci-fi theme, voices, art, style, music. Fun to play (even in 2023 when the graphics feel a little dated). Good reuse of equipment and mechanisms. I loved the plot too - oh yes, you should read the prologue stuff, helps set the scene.
Graphics-9 Music-7 Plot-5 Controller and navigation-10 Total score-7 Point and click couldn't have been easier. Inventory access and item usage easy. Graphics were wonderful. The plot was your average and somewhat 'ho-hum' as a usual sabotage plot is when used over and over. The character development also got a little hokie at times. (Solar radiation would NEVER benefit a droids circuity or any circuitry for that matter). I wouldn't pay any more than $10 for this game so at $3 it was a good deal. All that said it was a decent point-and-click space game with lots to do.
Its fine, just a little slow and a lot of VERY tricky pixel hunting. Plus, the corridors of the ship are very drab and same-ey. OK story and puzzles. I may have only finished it because I wanted very badly for it to be Mission: Critical.
First off the controls weren't as bad as people make out. If you've ever played any of the Myst titles in particular Myst 3/4 then you will know what to expect. Basically you move through pre-rendered scenes and you can pan the camera around 360 degrees. By default the camera has a momentum to it i.e. you can swing it around by flicking the mouse but you can disable this if you want a more tradition FPS feel. I kept the momentum enabled as I think its what the developers intended and it worked just fine (in fact I thought the camera was a little bit heavy at times with it disabled entirely.) The story and game-play are fairly typical; explore an abandoned spaceship and try to figure out the mystery of what happened. Listen to a bunch of audio logs (the voice acting is quite decent) and solve various puzzles while accompanied by an artificial intelligence. Its nothing groundbreaking but it was enjoyably and engaging all the same. There are at least two different endings with different playable content depending on your choice. The puzzles weren't difficult although it could be sometimes quite difficult to find items to pick up or realize the directions you can go in a particular scene. Arguably the starting section is the most difficult part of the game since you don't have the help from the AI yet. There is a walk-through included in the game folder if you get stuck. Note one gotcha is that some items can be interacted with more than once. Also the game does have some bugs; occasional freezes, a couple of crashes and I notice you can sometimes run into problems if you complete instructions given by the AI too quickly. So save often. Overall I really enjoyed it. Recommended for fans of Sci-fi mysteries, point and clicks and games like Myst (but easier than Myst.)
I can only recommend this to those who are complete genius people, those who have infinite patience, or those who are okay with playing a game through using a walkthrough. I started the game taking 10 minutes to figure out what the first step was, as the first object you need is just blending into some random junk in the room. After another 20 minutes, I had finally escaped the first room, but ended up having to reference a guide not long after due to not being able to find the next step. Turns out I needed to open a panel that did absolutely nothing to draw attention to itsself. At that point, I became frustrated and just followed a guide through, and there were multiple steps of the guide that made me wonder how anyone could ever be expected to figure out the solutions on their own. Story was decent, controls were sucky (as everyone else has stated), and overall I just can't say I had enough fun to make up for the frustrations I experienced. I recommend picking up games from The Room series if you want a good puzzling experience that isn't so unintuitive.
Note: Finished in 9 hours of gameplay. In general: I like this type of games – spaceship crawling point-n-click adventures. You wake up as a medical robot and you try to find out what happened within the ship. In time you gain access to new areas and you obtain new skills. The game looks simple but the simplicity is actually a reason why it’s fun to play. It’s not easy. I got stuck quite a few times. Pluses: + easy to use UI + simple but nice graphics + made by small independent studio (which is something I support) Neutral: +- the game may seem hard to inexperienced players Minuses: - some things to pick or use are hard to spot - corridors of the ship are confusing and easy to be lost in - not very long
Puzzles are well integrated in the world/lore such that most of them don't feel like puzzles. To me that is a big plus. Commentary on meta-knowledge of story structure that some might consider a mild spoiler:
Branching story is a bit annoying to me as it means I have to load an earlier save to see the rest of the game, but for some that's extra replay value and is a plus. There's lots of optional extra content in here for those who like to work at extracting every tidbit.[/spoiler
Not to be missed if you enjoy a casual pace and a super engaging story in an atmospheric space ship/station environment that includes some - but not too many puzzles with light to moderate challenge. Best €5 I've probably ever spent on the Humble store (current sale). It makes a weak first impression while you get used to the controls and the plot ramps up, but as long as you don't give up early it won't let go of you until the credits roll. Pros

Great gripping story overall, with some moving moments
Surprising turn of events affects the player character
Quite atmospheric
Good music and ambient tracks
Excellent voice overs, I got System Shock 2 vibes from some
Great sci-fi environment design
Cons

Turning the 1st person view with the mouse has momentum to it, to a degree you can adjust in the settings. This takes some getting used to. Lowering the momentum slider all the way didn't do it for me as it made mouse speed inconsistent when passing over interactive objects like doors. Once you find a comfortable setting you'll get used to it rather quickly.
To move, you have to use the mouse to click on where you want to go. Even near the end of the game, I still occasionally forgot and out of habit tried to use WASD to no avail.
One or two small objects needed to progress are easy to overlook. You have to scan each scene thoroughly.
It seems to run in 1080p and upscales if your monitor's native resolution is higher.
While you can edit the config file in C:\Users\Name\AppData\Local\Prominence\ to change the RATE setting (=refresh rate) and turn v-sync on/off which is on by default, as soon as you go past the main menu the fps is capped to 59 which seems to be hardcoded, so even if the refresh is set to 60, v-sync will not work to eliminate tearing and perceived stutter.
I can't get G-sync to work with this game. Best you can do is set RATE=120. Much smoother than RATE=60, less laggy too and much better than at 144, probably because it's close to 2x 59 fps. It still microstutters a bit but it's not something you notice when actually playing because of how movement, scene transitions and mouse momentum work.
I was not able to play 100% walkthrough-free. Almost though, so it's nowhere near as bad as the old Lucasarts adventures in that regard. There's an excellently worded walkthrough PDF included in the install directory.
While ending B feels satisfying, game development around the story's conclusion felt a little rushed compared to the higher quality midgame storyline and gameplay, regardless of which of the two endings I chose. (I saved first so I could try both.)
I am typically quite harsh on games that have technical flaws. Only in some cases do they get a free pass. The criteria for that are: the issues don't affect gameplay for the type of game that it is, and it makes up for the flaws by being excellent in other areas. This is one of those cases.
