Gameplay is really tight, and the story isn't half bad, but let's be honest, we all know we play to fly cool planes to shoot at other planes. If you like Ace Combat, you'll like this

It's fun.

Deer God, you wont regret this. 30 dollars (plus tax) for the Game and DLC for one of the greatest Arcade flight games ever made. When you play this game....... When the Orange comes for you..... Remember me.

Project Wingman is a very good nostalgia trip for veteran Ace Combat fans. The graphics are pleasant to look at, the sounds are excellent, and the gameplay is mostly on-point for an AC-inspired game. I think the story progresses a little too fast, and the boss battles definitely dive headfirst into an arcadey bullet-hell sort of experience, and without spoiling the story too much, the ending feels anti-climactic. I don't regret the purchase or the playtime however, and hope the devs at some point produce a sequel. I have an older PC with a lower end graphics card and the final boss battle stressed it, frame rate dropped, but otherwise it ran very well.

Очень хороший младший брат эйс комбата. Меньше сюжета, меньше самолетов, меньше кинематографичности, зато масштабнее бои и арсенал для них. Эйс комбат - когда хочется челлендж. Вингмен - когда хочется полетать на самолете и поубивать врагов. Как-то так.

A love letter to Ace Combat made as only die-hard fans could. The passion and appreciation of the devs is spelled in every moment of the game. If you like Ace Combat, you'll like Wingman. Positives: All the aircraft have cool paint jobs, no need to unlock or buy anything. Makes sense for a merc. Good variety of aircraft and special weapons. They put in lots more sci-fi than other related titles and that makes the world that much richer. It's somewhat reminiscent of Crimson Skies in the regard. It's a fun game that never sacrifices the fun for authenticity or realism. On the other hand, it never goes off the rails. Voice acting is great for an indie game. I only heard one line that really stuck out as goofy in the entire game. I could keep going till I'm blue in the face on things I like about this game. Frankly, I like this more than Ace Combat 7. My only negative point is that if you look close you can see the imperfections inherent in any indie game. However, the dev acknowledge this in a short comment at the end of the campaign and this is far from the worst indie title I've ever played.

It's a fun game and quick to play through the campaign. Dialogue is atrociously written but capably voice acted despite that. I'm not talking about the melodrama, more the writer(s) struggled with natural speaking dialogue. If you enjoyed Ace Combat and want more, this is a strong option.
