Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones™

Great game! I *might* even like it more than Sands of Time... though I feel like - to avoid the wrath of child me - I'm not actually allowed to say that, so pretend you didn't read that. My biggest gripe with Sands of Time was the combat, while I enjoyed the climbing and environmental puzzles. They not only made combat in general a whole lot smoother here, they also made it largely optional by giving you the choice of instead approaching it as yet another climbing puzzle to get an instant kill if you positioned yourself correctly, making this the first Prince of Persia game where I do not hate all enemy encounters! All of the boss fights are gimmick fights, which you'll probably like if - like me - you disliked the basic combat of this series, but might find annoying if you enjoyed the more traditional encounters. Love it or hate it, at least none of them last very long. And on the topic of climbing: They've added a good few new mechanics here that all felt satisfying and smooth! They also changed the landscape camera view to be more of a hint system on where to go next, which was a welcome change as well, considering I did struggle finding my way every once in a while in Sands of Time. I still prefer Sands of Time's story to this one, though I'm also clearly biased here, since... I played that one a ton growing up, never the rest of the series. This one's a bit more edgy (no surprise looking at that cover image). I think teen me would've loved it, but adult me has grown a bit past that and found it very corny. As with both previous titles, you still need to limit your framerate to 60fps to prevent some issues on modern hardware, though that should be easy enough. I believe in you, you'll figure it out. I had a blast playing The Two Thrones. It definitely deserves a rating at least equal to SoT, so I shall give this too it's well earned score of a perfect 5/7. (listen, if they keep reusing the opening of SoT, I can reuse my stupid, unfunny reference)
