Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Sep 1 → 0.14/day in the week after.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Real-time strategy gameplay mixed with Horror elements.

Squad based controls, multiple possibilities according to the way you build your team, soldiers are good killers, engineers can establish defense perimeter by building turrets, barricades or using special key points from the environment to build traps and medics can keep your team alive on a long run

During this stage, you choose which location you want to send your squad to search for supplies and information, you choose how you want to equip your survivors and what skills you want them to get stronger at, you choose your route and you decide the best course of action for the random events that will present before you.

This is not your classical zombie outbreak, no, this story is much darker inspired by Lovecraft works, an ancient evil has returned from below the earth bringing with him creatures of nightmare, abominations of unspeakable terror and if that was not enough, the dead humans are brought back to life as animated flesh to fight alongside this evil.

You are part of what remains of army forces, your brother, the one who took care of you when your parents died was also part of the army and went missing during a mission a few miles from where you are stationed with the objective to gather information about these underground holes from were these creatures are coming from. You decide to embark on one last journey of redemption to see your brother one more time.
Good luck Commander!

I normally wouldn't leave a bad review for an indie dev like this, but the game keeps asking for one, so... here it is. This had the potential to be a really great game, but ultimately suffers from an extreme lack of polish and playability. The controls are absolutely awful. You give characters orders and they listen maybe half the time. If they're moving and hit an obstacle, they just stop where they are. For example, if you open a door to a new room, you have to give each character orders individually to enter it. You can select the whole group and tell them to go in, but then one will go through the door, the rest will figure there's no path into the room and do nothing. So you have to wait until the doorway is clear and give the order again... wait again and give order again... And the environments are very tightly packed so you never really stop dealing with this issue. And in a challenging game with no active pause (at least until halfway through the game on normal difficulties), it's just infuriating. Also, some missions do things like position squad members on either side of a vehicle, with no way to cross between them. When you've 2 unarmed support units to protect one side, and all your soldiers are on the other... well you're just out of luck. There's lots of other issues, but I think I've said enough.

How was this game released in 2022 and doesn't support a functional resolution for 4k monitors? Everything is way too small. No resolution options. Only fullscreen or window modes. No zoom options. Only an option to increase text size. The largest is just about okay, but nowhere near something one would consider big. I tried a command line to run the game in 1920x1080, but then had the classic problem of the in-game buttons being misaligned with mouse clicks. And no, I don't want to change my desktop resolution. Thanks, I choose life.

Weapons free in the chemical plant results in instant game over.
If the game had a pause feature to send commands id probably had kept this game but its too much micromanagement for me without it
Awesome little game. It's the only thing to scratch the same itch as Strain Tactics, an incredible tactical shooter with a similar premise from five years earlier. While Strain Tactics is a more varied, polished, and overall a larger game, Chromosome Evil is a very worthy low-budget companion to it, it makes perfect sense they're bundled for sale here on Steam. I will be honest; if this game looks interesting to you, I have to recommend Strain first - it's a similar concept with a larger feature-set, including a rich morale system, more NPC activity, and more features overall. I mean no insult to Chromosome Evil, I suspect they'd agree, but you should absolutely play both games. If you're short on money, Strain will give you more for your coin - if you're just eager to play this kind of rich tactical horror and you have the patience for a series without burning out, though, get all four games and play Strain last as the finale =) In short, Chromosome Evil is a really horrible road-trip across a ruined country. Each run you attempt will begin simple, with parasitically infested zombies slowly harrassing your scavenging runs - but you'll soon unlock research and development, improve your troops' equipment while making difficult choices between approaches, priorities and investments, and end up fighting much worse things in increasingly tactically challenging and rewarding ways. Be warned, it is a real-time tactics game, and it does have an active pause system but you need to progress some distance into the game and make a major investment of rare resources to unlock it. Until you do so, you'll be in a harsh realtime tactical challenge, multitasking 2-3 soldiers in combat as they try to provide mutual cover while looting, interacting with computers, repairing objectives and so on. I believe the sequel gives you the pause system from the start without restriction, so if you're easily overwhelmed by realtime multitasking, you might want to jump straight to the second game. Ultimately it's a little janky, it can seem a little simple, and it isn't entirely free of bugs - pathfinding and weapon-swapping can be really rough and require a lot of extra clicks - but I've had a really good ~11 hours with it so far and I'm not bored with it at all. I'm enjoying the slow reveal of the plot, the unique missions at milestones, and the way familiar locations can be more varied than expected when scavenging similar locations during your journey. It's worth the price and your time, please give it a try =) Oh, on that note I think CE2 has a demo which is fairly representative of how CE1 plays, just a little more advanced and smoother, so try that and see if you want to step back to the first game or jump right in to the sequel. Enjoy, and thanks for the good times, 16 BIT NIGHTS.
I only recommended this game only if you bought it on discount the concept is really awesome, but the execution is just plain bad the difficulty is WTF, the change between ez, norm and hard is barely visible the biggest problem is that in later stage of the game, the hoard became impossible to manage u have to save and reload until you got perfect start of the first 5 day for the later campaign to feels right, otherwise it felt forceful and unfair, usually this kind of game (that was done well) will able you to compensate the early mistake by doing micros in-game, but this one is just about having everything done right in the first place. If you did something wrong, you are probably cooked. Still, the core idea is awesome
