Amidst the scorched sands of ancient Persia, there is a legend spun in an ancient tongue. It speaks of a time borne by blood and ruled by deceit. Drawn to the dark powers of a magic dagger, a young Prince is led to unleash a deadly evil upon a beautiful kingdom.

Just fantastic. One of my favorite action-adventure games of the PS2 era, though not without its fairly major flaws. Movement feels amazing, and chaining acrobatics through long parkour sections feels really awesome and fluid, just as good as it was back in the day. The combat, though, feels as bad as it also was back in the day. There's no way around it, combat in this game is pretty bad. It's incredibly repetitive, and I hate when a game goes "actually the enemies are invincible if you just keep hitting them forever, you gotta do this one thing to permanently destroy them", and essentially 100% of the enemies in this game (except for minor annoyances like scarabs, birds and bats) are just like that, constantly getting up until you dagger-of-time them when they're down. The encounters also drag on and on for much longer than they should. For the entirety of the second half of the game, every time you think combat's over and more enemies spawn you will always think "oh seriously, more?!". Lastly, another major problem regarding the combat is how your sidekick in the game can be killed by the monsters and that is an instant game over, so you're forced to babysit her during these portions. For the vast majority of the game this isn't really a problem, but it suddenly becomes your biggest issue during the final major mob fight in the game: the elevator section in the Tower of Dawn. I think I had 5 or so 'game overs' because they kept focusing her instead of me, and she dies incredibly fast when that happens. The soundtrack is extremely good - there's no way you won't add some of these tracks to your playlist - and the visuals are awesome and aged very well. I did play using the "Fix Compilation" mod, which allows for widescreen and high resolutions, and the game looks just incredible. The game's set pieces are mostly great. Most are hits, very few are complete misses, worst of all being the infamous "bring the crystal things to the top", with a very british soldier screaming instructions at you. That is just an awful segment and should've been completely reworked out outright removed, as it really brings down the game's flow real bad. On the other hand, the 'Halls of Learning' and the immediately after observatory segments are much, much better examples of puzzle segments that are neat and greatly integrated with both the Prince's move set and the style of the game as a whole. Overall, it's a highly recommended "seamless adventure" type of game. Not sure if I'm uninformed, but I don't really know how to properly define these games where you go through a mostly continuous journey with no major breaks or time skips (think Half-Life games, Portal games, Resident Evil 4, Ico, Inside and so on). I really love this kind of game, and Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time most certainly stands out as one of the great ones. I just find it hard to believe a complete playthrough can go unscathed without its "okay, I'm done with this combat" moment.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 7: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time The Sands of Time Я запускаю The Sands of Time і ловлю дивне відчуття — ніби повертаюсь не в гру, а в себе старого.
TLDR
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, is, pun intended, a beautiful relic of its time. It is a little gem of a game from an era of gaming when live services and microtransactions didn't exist, and it takes you on a wonderful Arabian-nights-vibe journey for a few hours. Sadly, the Steam version comes with a few annoying glitches, due to incompatibility with modern hardware, but there is a recently released mod on ModDB that fixes most of them.
The Good
POP SOT has an enchanting and cohesive atmosphere (both in terms of art style and music), great voice acting and humor, very solid platforming, and an interesting mechanic with its ability to reverse or slow down time to help you in both combat and traversal. This is a game that takes you on a magic carpet ride for 6 hours and demands little more in return than your attention. While 95% linear, exploration is rewarded with more banked sand for your time manipulation abilities and permanent upgrades to your health bar. The UI is as minimalistic as possible. There are some really nice QOL details in this game, e.g. your save file will tell you how many % of the game you've completed, and since the entire game is framed within narration from the prince, he will also comment on game overs and saving.
The Bad
Farah's AI can be a bit... suboptimal sometimes (although it is hilarious when she accidentally shoots you and both she and the prince comment on it), and Farah herself is basically made of paper--three hits and she's dead. There is one section near the end of the game that can leave you stuck in a death loop if you're not careful. Thankfully, the game allows you to keep multiple manual saves (which you should definitely take advantage of!), so if that happens, just reload a previous save. The final boss is actually easier than the last 6 or so battles before him.
The Ugly
This game unfortunately does not play along well with modern hardware. Voice volume is tied to camera distance, so if the camera is far away from the character or you're watching a cutscene, voices will be hard to hear. The fog effects cause a screen white-out, and the PC version was not designed to be played with controller. The game was also not designed for widescreen monitors, and launching it takes a day and a half, as it tries to launch a .exe file that doesn't work correctly. Thankfully, there is a mod on ModDB that is super easy to install and fixes almost all of these issues (except for the audio, which it is supposed to fix, but sadly doesn't for me).
had problems with modern hardware, had to edit installation files but i guess it is a bit too old for my liking. I could not even climb up the wall, in the 1st 5 minutes. The controls (hold right click to do special movements like climb up or run up the wall) is stupid. the 2008 prince of persia is a lot better.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - Проверка временем без ностальгических очков. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time получает 6/10.
Difficulty Overall : 2/10 Approximate Amount of Time Required for 100% : 5-8 hours. (but no achievements on steam). There's no denying that the game shows its age, especially visually, but that can be easily fixed. The remastered graphics mod available online does an amazing job of bringing the visuals up to modern standards while staying faithful to the original art style. It honestly makes a huge difference. The gameplay is still the reason to play it. The platforming is satisfying, the puzzles are fun without being frustrating, and the combat, while simple by today's standards, fits the pace of the adventure. The atmosphere, soundtrack, and storytelling are just as memorable as ever. I also want to address one common complaint: controller support. I've seen people say the game doesn't work with a controller, but that's misleading. You only need to bind the controls in the options once, and after that it plays perfectly. It takes a minute or two, nothing more. If you're willing to install the graphics mod and spend a couple of minutes configuring your controller, you'll get a much better experience. Despite its age, this is still one of the best action-adventure games of its generation and an easy recommendation for anyone who enjoys classics.
The game is of course OG and nostalgic but after a few hours, I felt like please finish the game now. Overall very good game but has a lot I mean a lot of puzzles and parkour.
