Команда робить найкращу гру в вашому портфелі юбісофт за останні років 15. Юбісофт: закриває студію
This is simply one of the greatest Metroidvanias ever created. It actually might BE the best. I pirated the Switch version and felt compelled to re-beat it on Steam. It has a brilliant combo-juggling combat system and "big-boy" platforming, i.e. the kind of platforming for men that still get TURGID. There's no boss runbacks because the game respects your time as a grownup, unlike the Hollow Knight series (which I've also beaten). Unlike Hollow Knight it also doesn't have the aesthetics of a chinese cartoon flash game from Newgrounds. If you're like me and you possess enough major league hand dexterity to do no-hit runs of Ninja Gaiden (NES) - then this is the game for you. And like me, if you still print in your church slacks from an autumn breeze and have a girlfriend who is at least a decade away from perimenopause let alone full blown menopause (+ under 135lbs) - then you're gonna enjoy the tight responsiveness of this platforming. I guarantee it idiot. In summation, even if it might be one of the best Metroidvanias it's still only the third best Prince of Persia game, behind Prince of Persia (1989), and Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame (1993).
It is a classic Metroidvania type game. The controls are tight. As a bonus you can set the voice to Persian (Farsi) with English subtitles. A rare gem.
I can understand the complaints about the launcher relative to steam deck.. but apart from that please don't listen to the negative reviews with less than 5 hours game time.. These people have no idea about the gem that they missed. Metroidvania combat: 9/10. Possibly the most comprehensive metroidvania combat system because you can chain combos, animation cancel and the skill ceiling is truly quite high. The one critique i'd give here concerns the athra system because triggering any of these attacks effectively gives you free invulnerability to dodge/interrupt any attack (like dark souls roll on steroids). Map design and platforming: 8/10. The map is gorgeous, the environments change quite alot from area to area as you'd expect, and while the platforming is generally quite easy the challenges use the environments you're in to provide unique moments. The biggest innovations POPLC makes here are the availability of 'guided' mode which is a godsend for first playthroughs as it shows you which corner of the map to run to without actually spoiling anything. The other feature is the screenshot mode for the map.. For any room you are in you can press down on d-pad to screenshot yourself any any paths/items you've missed which then shows up on the map screen. You could call this ubisoft holding your hand but it is not only optional, it also makes a blind playthrough experience so much less tedious. Bosses: 10/10. Damn the bosses in this game are cool, there is a pretty big disparity between the 'minibosses'/early bosses and their main counterparts, but when this game peaks it peaks damn high. The DLC made them even better by adding all of the challenge arenas which culminate in 4 new revamped/difficult versions of the main game bosses. When I first played through this game I was a bit disappointed that you didn't get to fight all of the antagonists, but after 100% completing the game I was mighty impressed by the hidden bosses you can find. Story: 7/10. Probably the weakest aspect of POPLC, but still decent enough. It follows the typical fromsoft trope where if you played through the game without reading the lore / doing all the quests then you'd essentially think there was no point.. but there is alot of interesting twists/tie in's to POP storyline if you could be bothered to find them. I must say though, adding the DBZ like athra as a main theme of the game was completely rediculous but unbelievably cool. The hype on some of these boss confrontations is truly epic. Music: 7/10. Its nothing like the crap you heard in the trailer.. big L by ubisoft marketing there. The music was much more seemless to the environments you were in, I could have paid more attention to it but I was more impressed by the voice acting by both the English and Farci voicovers. I'm pretty sure the DLC comes with the game on steam, either way I would highly recommend getting them together. The challenges I already briefly mentioned to you, but the other part of the DLC has an entire independent story and map which you can access at any point through the main game. This is the peak difficulty of the game though
100% Achievement Review #17
● Estimated difficulty: 7/10 ● Approximate amount of time to 100%: 35 hours ● Online achievements: none ● Number of missable achievements: 1 in the DLC (Health Is Wealth) ● Difficulty based achievements: none ● Minimum playthroughs: 1 ● DLC required: yes, you need the Mask of Darkness DLC ● Glitched achievements: none Notes Prince of Persia is one of the best Metroidvania games I have ever played it comes with a big caveat however which is the DLC. While the main game is awesome, offers a good mix of platforming challenges and combat the DLC removes almost all of the combat in favor of some really tough platforming and the game is simply not built for that. Many times during the DLC you will need to simply do a trial and error of the section before you know what to do because the camera is too close to the character and certain sections like platforms only appear after u start the platforming section. You also unfortunately lose most of your powers that you gained throughout your previous playthrough and only gain some of them back, so a lot of the muscle memory you got from using certain powers is gone. This DLC is also the reason why I rate the games difficulty so high, as while you can set the difficulty to easy in the main game and that will help you with bosses there isnt much you can do about the platforming sections, there is as far as I know an ability to skip certain platforming sections but it only works on certain story based sections and will not help you with everything. Outside of this the game has very well designed bosses with great soundtrack (they even got Gareth Coker to do some of the OST which you might know from the soundtrack for Ori), and the combat is flashy and has a surprising amount of depth to it. Achievement wise it is a fairly standard metroidvania, you collect pretty much everything around the map, there are collectible maps you can buy from a merchant later on and you will very easily get most of the achievements just by playing the game. One thing to note is the one missable in the DLC, there are 4 Soma Tree flowers you must collect, 3 of them spawning after you beat an area in the DLC and one of them being from an optional boss. The reason why this is missable is that if you somehow dont pick them up straight away and leave the area they will despawn, so watch out for that.
A very good start, and then the game starts to show a lot of weaknesses. The traversal is awful, I always had to look at the map. And there's no mini map. The infamous sewer level was also awful. Too bad because the core mechanics are really good.
Really awesome game , perfect for game for Prince of Persia lovers and side scroll gamers. Love the Art style, story.
I'm very skeptical when it comes to Ubisoft, but this game exceeded all of my expectations. The graphics are breathtaking, beautiful composition, charming models, satisfying hand painted textures, cool RFX, the story is interesting too, especially since I've recently caught an interest in the history of Persia / Iran. Looks very good on an OLED screen. The gameplay is well designed, movement feels smooth and pleasant, fighting is challenging, but not too hard. The platforming is creative and non repetitive. This is the first Prince of Persia game I'm playing, had no opportunity to play the older titles as a kid, but I've seen others playing it and it looked cool. Very happy with it. + it's a PERFECT Steam Deck title! Note: I have several hours in this game which seem to not have counted due to playing without internet.
The game doesn't support Steam cloud saves, instead you have to use the Ubisoft Connect cloud save system which only allows you to upload 1 save at a time and if you click the wrong button it will overwrite your current save with an older one from the cloud. Terible design, I've lost several hours of progress and I don't understand why they don't just support Steam cloud saves. Other than that, it's a great metroidvania with some classic Prince of Persia influence.
One of the best metroidvania i have ever played. buy it on any price you won't be disappointed
