Played this as a kid 20 years ago on windtangent games with their game demo service. Now i finally legally own it! Plant the plants, water them, sell em boom doesnt get simpler than that love it.
When I found one of my childhood game on steam it was an instant buy. Now that I'm not a dumb kid that doesn't know how to play or have to share the family computer this game has become a lot more fun to me. Granted there are some things that bug me that make it hard to 100% complete it. I wish on the seed page the parent plants had the names (Hello Word Document) and some of these bugs are difficult get to spawn in. At least there are some 20 year old game guides to help me on my quest. If you grew up with this game it holds up.
used to play this game with my mom when i was like 4 at 3am it was magical 10/10 great game..... and pretty sounds (:
Plant Tycoon is decent for a real-time, life/business simulator that even goes as far as giving players options in the menu to fit their schedule. Of course, the graphics are apparently dated and it can take up to a week to solve a piece of the flora breeding puzzles; the game is generally fair when it comes to pacing and allows players to experiment with over 500 combinations of plant pollination in the interest of the player's curiosity and desire for profit and upgrades. All in all, this is one of the few products on Steam that can comfortably be played in windowed mode and can be cozily returned to, no matter one's schedule or experience with simulators of its type.
It's a cozy OG lite idler where you tend to your garden, catch bugs (and wiff often), discover new species and watch in horror as new rare species eventually die from poor soil, water, and infestation. The music is gentle and not overbearing while on loop, with chimes playing on occasion. The bobblehead customers do squats and stare hard at your plants for minutes, sometimes indefinitely, until you prune the one part of your plant hidden among pixel leaves, you trash the plant [cause it's mercy D:] or they buy it~ 10/10 would grow venomous lemonbushes for profit again.
An absolutely simplistic tycoon gameplay loop with real-time-tracking of your plants even when you're offline (it's based on your system device internal clock), and yet it feels quite deep in terms of plant variety & breeding mechanics, (there's over 500 variations). I've played this game back in 2009 and it's still fun to return to this game even now. Lastly, the 4 long background songs in this game are fantastic! Pro tip: Upgrade your soil as soon as you can and your seed tray afterwards.
Very nostalgic considering I grew up playing these games. Virtual Villagers, Fish Tycoon, and Plant Tycoon. I think these games are what got me hooked on idle games. They're amazing. 10/10 recommend if you like having to check in in real time to care for something, and if you love retro games!
给童年补票了,16小时通关,魔法花全齐,1-1和23-23的种子都有了,理论上所有花都能配了。24岁带着速通的功利心来玩的,再也找不回6岁时第一次玩的懵懂和天真了。
So much nostalgia, I remember playin' it on Flash but in..probably middle school. It was a demo version at the time, had to buy it for the good stuff.
This game is literally planting seeds, waiting for them to grow, cross-pollinating, selling the plants and starting all over again. I find it extremely relaxing; however some people might find it frustratingly slow (even on "fast" time mode, it takes over half an hour for a plant to grow to maturity and bloom).
