an interesting strategy for a couple of evenings with friends
Planets Under Attack is a surprisingly addictive lite strategy game with a charming cartoon art style that's easy to pick up — you're commanding swarms of ships to capture planets, upgrade them, and overwhelm your enemies in a satisfying loop. The early campaign levels genuinely hooked me, and the variety of game modes kept things fresh. However, the difficulty spike around level 10 is absolutely brutal — even on easy, the AI feels like it's cheating, and what was fun quickly becomes an exercise in frustration and repetition. It's a shame, because the core concept is clever and the game has real charm, but the lack of playtesting clearly left the campaign severely unbalanced in its later stages. If you can grab it for under a dollar in a sale and are okay with potentially hitting a wall mid-campaign, it's worth a couple of hours — otherwise, temper your expectations.
team mode allows for 2v2 battles. intense.
defensive towers are OP if positioned right.
The economic aspect is light but engaging enough.
strategy light. accessible for everyone.
