About
Planetbase is a strategy game where you guide a group of space settlers trying to establish an outpost on a remote planet.
In the game you play the role of the base architect and manager, telling your colonists where to build the structures they will need to survive. You will have to ensure that they have a constant supply of oxygen, food and water to stay alive.
You will get them to collect energy, extract water, mine metal, grow food, manufacture bots, and build a fully self-sufficient base in a harsh environment, where you are always one step away from total failure.
Even if the game is not intended to be a simulator, all the mechanics are plausible, and based on what the expected challenges of establishing a colony in an new planet would be.
Four different planets with different conditions and increasing difficulty.

Harness solar and wind energy (if available) in order to power the base's structures.
Grow hydroponic Vegetables and synthesize Vitromeat to feed your population.
Mine and produce raw resources, process them, manufacture goods, and establish a production chain.
Carefully manage the colonist immigration flow to ensure you have the people with the right skills.

Survive disasters like meteors, sandstorms or solar flares and defend your base from intruders.
Mechanize your base by creating your own bots that will help with the more arduous tasks.
Grow your colony from a few initial pioneers to a vibrant planetbase with hundreds of colonists.

The AI sucks i had food they just never took the time to eat and starved

Every market we collect.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

On the surface, this appears to be a delightful space colony sim. I really wanted to keep playing this one, but as the other reviews will warn you, various bugs like poor AI and other mechanics make it an unfun challenge of a game. Without any customizations for difficulty, you're stuck hoping "this next run" will go better. It's disheartening to see how fast a run can die. To the devs: I know you're making a sequel, so PLEASE give this version a bit more love. No need to correct the poor AI (maybe they're just born that way, hey) but give us a fast restart option, less chances for a tiny starting area, an EASY MODE just for completions sake. Gotta say though, the tutorial was very well done!
SAQUEN PLANETBASE 2 PORFAVOR, YA NO AGUANTOOOOOOOOOO
As other reviews have stated, the AI for this makes the game unplayable at this junction. Easiest planet is so unforgiving it's absurd. Like the others I've played just over the refund point for this game and it was not pleasant. Started over more times than should be necessary in such a short period hoping it was the location that I was starting, or the build sequence that I was employing, or the resource prioritization, or etc etc. I am envious of people who can succeed with this game, but it seems the positive reviews are more of the potential or concept and not of the current playability which speaks volumes. Even with all this my GREATEST complaint is that there is no PAUSE to strategize or plot out building placement which IMO is absolutely ridiculous.
Planetbase is one of my favorite games. The core gameplay loop is perfectly optimized and there are no bugs. Don't let the negative reviews fool you...any logistics issues people have encountered occur because of their poorly optimized colonies. There are a bunch of challenges to complete after you've figured out how to get all of the planetary achievements. Really looking forward to Planetbase 2.
Me: Lands on a new world. Quickly sets up a base before night falls. All my colonists almost die from lack of oxygen from power running out. Daytime arrives and I barely survive. Base grows exponentially overtime and have almost beat the game. Within 1 hour, 3 meteors destroy my power supply, a solar flare kills my other colonists stuck outside, and the cherry on top with pirates surrounding the base and stopping any chance of repairs. My whole colony is destroyed. Repeat the cycle because its fun. Absolute cinema.
I waited a while to weigh in. This is a decent base builder that initially promises more than it delivers. For much of the game, the progression funnels you into a fixed build order to succeed, making it feel like you’re solving the designer’s puzzle rather than crafting your own layout. It doesn’t ruin the experience—lots of builders lean this way—but it does cap the game’s potential; a more dynamic system would’ve made this a "good" game instead of "decent". If you give it enough time the game can get more complex but the advancement feels hollow and without purpose once your survival is stabilized. TL;DR: Good bones, rigid spine. 6/10
