About
Planetbase is a strategy game where you guide a group of space settlers trying to establish an outpost on a remote planet.
In the game you play the role of the base architect and manager, telling your colonists where to build the structures they will need to survive. You will have to ensure that they have a constant supply of oxygen, food and water to stay alive.
You will get them to collect energy, extract water, mine metal, grow food, manufacture bots, and build a fully self-sufficient base in a harsh environment, where you are always one step away from total failure.
Even if the game is not intended to be a simulator, all the mechanics are plausible, and based on what the expected challenges of establishing a colony in an new planet would be.
Four different planets with different conditions and increasing difficulty.

Harness solar and wind energy (if available) in order to power the base's structures.
Grow hydroponic Vegetables and synthesize Vitromeat to feed your population.
Mine and produce raw resources, process them, manufacture goods, and establish a production chain.
Carefully manage the colonist immigration flow to ensure you have the people with the right skills.

Survive disasters like meteors, sandstorms or solar flares and defend your base from intruders.
Mechanize your base by creating your own bots that will help with the more arduous tasks.
Grow your colony from a few initial pioneers to a vibrant planetbase with hundreds of colonists.
Sums Steam only; PlayStation, Xbox, GOG publish no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

I dunno, it really depends.... first, this game is not a colony sim, but a factory game dressed as a colony sim. the colonists are just robots without any social intreraction whatsoever. they dont even age or something. (ok they at least sit next to each other at a table while chomping away their food, but no talks and everyone just comes and goes) maybe they can be seen as electrons in the colonymachine. just build a "factorychain" comprised of buildings that create food, have a beds, create all resources out of nothing + energycreating buildings, foodcreating buildings, water/air creating buildings, etc. no challenge here, just dont go too fast. its an endless game. graphics are ok but nothing special. a few (10-15?) buildings (called "domes") whose "hulls" don't even create a picture of belonging together, not very much thought put into this. could also be a gathering of different peoples ideas how a marsdome should look. every building can be modified with 2-5 different pieces depending on type of building (foodcreating, funcreating, etc.). the buildings take a lot of space for no reason, so your "factory" will unnecessarily stretch out. what annoyed me the most was that you cannot (even temporarily) break the "chain" to upgrade/enlarge a building. "Colonists" have some animations but they always do the same stuff, not very much to see/experience. It makes the game easily accesible though, so that might also be seen as a plus. sound is boring and music is good but only very few tracks so you will always hear the same music. UI is very basic and options super limited, you cannot even change sound settings while in the game. it has Techlevels which is not "Research" but just buying tech-patents from traders (in exchange for starch ;D). you can just build anything, only limit is your ressources, but of course you can make mistakes from which your factory cannot recover, so it could be seen as medium challenging. somehow this game is the little brother of.. everything. it is a nice tech demo, but doesn't have much going on, if you dont own its bigger brother "dawn of men" get that instead. i think you can have a little fun but it gets very boring and repetive, only goal is to get more ppl/stuff. But it can be be a very chilled experience, if you are looking for that + it has mods. I reccomend to wait for a discount. I would say an ok price is 4-5 €. or since planetbase 2 was announced, wait for that ;P (or support them by buying this ;))

Every market we collect.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Players guide a group of space settlers trying to build and maintain a base on a remote planet. The game blends survival, strategy, and resource management elements and has maintained a niche following over the years. In Planetbase, your primary objective is to establish a self-sufficient base on one of several planets, each with increasing difficulty. You must manage Power generation (solar, wind), oxygen and water supply, pood production and processing, mining and manufacturing, housing and morale. Planetbase requires careful planning and adaptability, especially when facing environmental hazards like sandstorms, meteor strikes, and solar flares. It offers a steep but satisfying learning curve, where poor planning leads to quick failure. The isolated setting and environmental risks create an immersive sense of urgency. Unlocking new planets with more severe challenges keeps gameplay fresh. The minimalist UI and atmospheric sound design enhance immersion without clutter. Once you've mastered the optimal base setup, gameplay can become formulaic. Colonist behavior can be erratic or inefficient, leading to frustration in critical moments. Fans of colony-building and management sims like Banished, Surviving Mars, or RimWorld. Players who enjoy micromanagement, resource optimization, and survival strategy. Those looking for a moderately-paced, single-player experience with sci-fi elements. Planetbase is a solid, well-executed survival colony sim that rewards careful planning and punishes neglect. While its depth doesn’t match genre heavyweights, it offers a tight, focused experience perfect for fans of resource management and sci-fi settings. It may feel dated in 2025, but it remains a rewarding challenge for strategy enthusiasts. Got this 10 years ago as one of my first entrants to the genre of colony survival games and it was a great unique game for its time including now
Buggy as hell and has really bad support for large bases even though it has an achievement for a population of 300. I have built and achieved a base of 300 for one of the planets however when I attempted it on a different planet It is almost impossible wating game. The settlers pathfinding is awful they consistently kill themselves by walking outside till they asphyxiate. They also will not refill the food makers resulting in them starving even when there is ample meat and veg and empty food makers.
When i'm a child, about 10 years ago, I played this game for about 100 hours. NOW, I am a Ph.D student and researching the field of solar and wind energy, This game give me a lot of power to resist in my study ^_^
