Devs gave up on this masterpiece. Amazing game. Lots of potential for expansion.
As someone who spent countless hours playing Total Annihilation back in the late 1990s, Planetary Annihilation: TITANS felt like both a dream come true. The DNA of Total Annihilation is everywhere. Massive armies, economy management based on metal and energy, factories pumping out endless units, and battles fought across huge maps. In PA:Titans, instead of fighting over a single map like in the classic Total Annihilation, you fight across entire planets and even multiple planets/moons in a solar system. You can build giant Titan class super units, launch invasions through orbital space, and literally smash planets against each other or planet size laser. Few RTS games can match the spectacle. The Titan units themselves are fun, but they also push the game further toward giant superweapons and away from the more balanced combined arms warfare that made Total Annihilation so memorable. Some matches feel like a race toward the biggest toy rather than a contest of strategy. Overall, I believe Planetary Annihilation: Titans is a worthy successor to Total Annihilation. It successfully captures the feeling of commanding enormous robotic armies and expands the battlefield to an absurd planetary scale. If Total Annihilation was about winning a war, Planetary Annihilation: TITANS is about blowing up the entire solar system. Total Annihilation remains memorable.
Played this game with a buddy. Having my best run yet. excess metal and energy. figured out both enemy commanders were on another planet. getting ready to go through a portal to get them both... planet we are on blows up out of nowhere. me and my buddy are confused as hell, we look at the replay and both our planet and the enemy planet collided because they are on the same path just heading towards one another slowly. game ends in a draw. I enjoy this game very much.
The game is not for single player at all.
I love this game but constant crashes and performance issues keep holding it back and it becomes impossible to play with your friends
The S in RTS stands for strategy. This games seems to have forgotten that. Original PA was pretty fun but with orbitals and titans you can fall back to the strategy of spamming a single unit and winning every engagement. Defense buildings are a joke, especially when you can spam send orbital ships to any point in a planet, so the only counter is to also start spamming the same unit yourself. The Titans expansion ruined this game.
Used to work on linux and now the main version does not. The new linux version has no regions for me to play single player in. TLDR: Can't play single player game without being online!
Game servers no longer work. Happened weeks ago and checked today... Same thing. No PvE or solo custom battles. Only Campaign. Not sure if it is just me, but I am pretty sure it is not me. Was fun while it lasted.
This is greed dressed up as nostalgia. I have never actually completed a match, the game always crashed out. But then I found 'Beyond All Reason', which just works. So screw this game and its whole series of scam games. Can believe this trash is allowed to hang around and let steam sell Lemons.
