Play as a pixel adventuring through image files in a digital world where physics aren't constant. Run, jump, flip upside down, and rotate your gravity. Use weapons to destroy other pixels before they destroy you. Collect bits of data from challenging locations to find out why your world must survive at all costs.

Pixel: ru² has fantastic level design. This game always has you thinking, like what color you need to be to proceed, what will happen if you hit a sideways gravity switch, what color you need to shoot to destroy a bad guy. From what I've played, the levels lead you along fairly well, but when you complete them you still feel like a genius. Not only does this game make you think, but it displays a little tidbit of information at the end of each level. This game has to be good for your brain!
A very short game if you're good at platformer puzzlers. You can probably speed-run the whole game in less than an hour. But it's in a good place for competing (maybe I'm biased because I hold a lot of the first place times) and it's a lot of fun to figure out the puzzles. These devs are very active - I've seen them at PAX every year, and they always have a new level to show off!
This is a neat game. I played this while at Momocon 2016 and managed to beat one of the dev's scores. The best way to describe this game is that it's a fast paced, puzzle, platformer, shooter. To get the best scores, you can't stop. To complete the levels, you need to know additive colors. Each level is a platforming level with points to collect and enemies to shoot. To beat the levels, you have to change your color to pass through barriers and change your shot color to kill enemies. This makes the levels kind of hard to figure out at first, but with each completion you cna almost always find a faster or better scoring route or method. To get the best scores, however you can't take any damage, shoot as little as possible, collect everything, kill everything, and finish. I like the music in the game, though i don't remember hearing it at Momocon (but that was probably because of all of the arcade/rhythm games being played near by). Most puzzles are fairly straight forward, but some are very hard. Getting high scores will be fun if a leaderboard gets put into the game. One thing i wasn't all too happy with was the aiming for controller input. You point in the direction you want to fire, but it immediately fires in that direction. Having something to see where you are aiming then another button to fire would help a lot. I haven't really tried the keyboard + mouse input, though i do see it being better for getting accurate shots. All in all, I like the game. I will try to get the best scores per level.
I received this game at Momocon for free in a contest/panel that the creators were running, which was cool in of itself, but I'll stick to the game. I wasn't really sure what I was expecting, coming into it, but the game itself was very unique, right from the get-go. You had your standard platforming elements where you move left and right, and space to jump and that was all well and good, and then it changes things a bit by allowing you to reverse the polarity, allowing you to stand on the ceiling. Of course this opens up a whole new world of challenges, but they don't stop there. Then not only can you shift that polarity up or down, but with certain locations in-game, you can rotate your map (and the polarity) 90 degrees to the left or right, depending on the button pressed. So now you've got four ceilings and four floors, in some levels virtually all at the same time but there's still more added on. They allow you to add color to your cube with certain areas and when your cube matches the color of a wall, you're now allowed to traverse through it. So now you've got all these things, all going at once and it's a puzzle platformer that really requires you to think on how you want to proceed. The only negative problem I have with the game is that there are enemies...and not necessarily that they're there, but they feel a little tacked on. You do get varying methods of attack, which is interesting itself, but it feels to me that the main draw is the puzzling itself, and the enemies don't really add or take away from that. I would like to see them be more incorporated into the puzzles themselves, rather than as an obstacle given that once you get a few of the better attacking methods, you can one-shot most of them and there's no real challenge or point to them being there in the first place. However, all in all the puzzling is a high level of fun and thought-provoking in Pixel and I would reccomend that people give it a chance if they're looking for a puzzle game that requires you to think in multiple dimensions and laterally all at the same time.
Only played an hour of this game but it hooked me. I can't wait to make some time to really dig into this!! It's truely Nintendo Hard™ and looks AMAZING
Pixel: ru² has several neat ideas with color based platforming and puzzle solving that I feel are well implemented. It's music is solid and it's sound design is competent. But I feel it's making a few mis-steps that are preventing it from becoming an excellent game. Firstly, the controls feel a little twitchy. There are times when I would try to nudge myself along and found myself careening off of a platform to my death. As death is cheap and there are frequent save points throughout most levels, this is not a huge loss. But I feel if the pace of the PC, platforms, and the like were slowed by 25% it would feel as though the player had better control over their character. Second, I feel the weapon options are too plentiful as to be overwhelming. Throughout the course of the tutorial, you're given access to six different weapons, and told you can rotate between them at any time. Additionally, you can change the color of the particles you shoot, which will change the damage the particle deals to the enemy based on it's color. You're instructed on how to use them and some neat tricks you can do with them (like rocket jumping). Unfortunately, when given the option you'll likely only use two or three of the weapon types. On a more frustrating note, there is a later level which restricts your ability to use alternate weapons. I believe this could be improved by restricting weapons to power-ups found in the level themselves, and potentially having blocks that modify your weapon's color in addition to your own color. Finally, from my play time of the game, the time I spent on the final level was nearly equal to the time I spent on all the levels previous to it. I don't mind an increasing difficulty curve in a game, but that was much more of a spike than a curve. I feel it could be improved by slowing the pace of the auto-scrolling wall so as to give the player a little bit of lee-way. Unfortunately, with it's abruptness and control issues, I do not feel I can currently recommend this game. As this is early access, I do not consider this a final state of affairs. I look forward to seeing how the game is refined and hope to change my recommendation later in development / upon release.
I received this product at PAX East 2017. I'm gonna drop a thumbs up as this game advertises itself as hard, and it sure lives up to it. Too hard for my liking, but the few levels I could complete were definitely rewarding. Nice game, I guess. :P
