A clever combination of VR puzzle games and VR climbing games.

Pipe Dreamin`VR: The Big Easy von der Top Right Corner ist eine wilde Mischung aus Piper und Climbey. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2568332520 Wir sind ein Klempner, wer hätte das gedacht, und müssen unseren Job erledigen. Und zwar schnell, denn das Wasser in den Leitungen beginnt schon zu laufen während wir die Rohre noch verzweifelt versuchen irgendwie sinnvoll in einander zu stecken. Das ist aber noch nicht alles, wir stehen zu allem Überfluss in einem metertiefen Erdloch, d. h. wenn wir uns nicht beeilen saufen wir ab! Von oben wirft uns der Boss beständig jede Menge Rohre in allen möglichen Formen ins Loch zu uns herunter. Gut dass wir einen Helm tragen, oder? Ähnlich wie bei Tetris oder dem originalen Piperversionen werden die nächsten drei Rohre angezeigt und wir können so ein wenig vorplanen. Es gibt nicht nur verschiedenen Rohrformen manchmal wirft der Kollege auch ganz besondere Rohre runter. Da gibt es spezielle Schwammrohre, oder Luftblasenrohre usw. zudem erscheinen hier und da auch Überraschungen wie Glückskleeblätter oder Schnorchel, falls das Wasser schon bis zum Hals steht. Damit uns das nicht passiert können und müssen wir an unser Rohrkonstruktion auch tatsächlich hochklettern, um den Weg für die Rohre bis zum Auslassrohr zu stecken. Haben wir uns total verbaut, können wir einzelne Rohrstücke mit eine Rohrzange wieder auseinander prügeln. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2568332654 Die Steuerung ist denkbar einfach und die Physik funktioniert recht gut, sodass man schnell viel Spaß in Pipe Dreamin`VR haben kann. Die Grafik ist gerade ausreichend, um nicht komplett zu nerven. Was aber komplett nervt, ist dass man das Spiel über den echten Desktop per Icon starten muss, in SteamVR Home geht es nicht. And quickly, because the water in the pipes is already starting to run while we are still desperately trying to somehow make sense of the pipes. But that's not all, to make matters worse we are standing in a meter deep hole in the ground, which means that if we don't hurry we will drown! From above, the boss constantly throws a lot of pipes in all possible forms down into the hole. Good that we wear a helmet, isn't it? Similar to Tetris or the original Piper versions, the next three pipes are displayed and we can plan a bit ahead. There are not only different pipe shapes sometimes the colleague throws down very special pipes. There are special sponge pipes, or bubble pipes, etc. In addition, surprises like lucky clover leaves or snorkels appear here and there, if the water is already up to our necks. So that this does not happen to us we can and must actually climb up at our pipe construction, in order to plug the way for the pipes up to the outlet pipe. If we have totally blocked ourselves, we can beat apart individual pipe pieces again with a pipe wrench. The controls are quite simple and the physics work quite well, so you can quickly have a lot of fun in Pipe Dreamin`VR. The graphics are just enough to not be completely annoying. But what is completely annoying is that you have to start the game via the real desktop per icon, in SteamVR Home it does not work. Pipe Dreamin’ VR: The Big Easy is very much like the classic pipe games of old, only in VR. The idea of this game is sound, you play the role of a New York plumber trying to fix huge sinkholes in the street. To be fair graphically the game is OK and some work had been put into it. But boy does this game have issues. Several times the pipe attached and wouldn’t let the water flow through, the game crashed more times than I care to mention and some pipes that you need to finish the levels simply don’t exist! But the final nail in this game has to be the £11.39 asking price for only ten levels. I would want ten times that much for the same price! At the moment I simply can’t recommend this game at any price, but if the issues do get fixed and the price dropped I would give it the thumbs up.

I was a fan of the old 2D puzzlers Pipe Mania and Pipe Dream, and this is a worthy VR successor. If you can tolerate a few minor imperfections and you are driven by steam achievements then it's a fun 2.5 hours of 3D puzzling. For some strange reason it started as a slide show and I had to turn my SteamVR resolution down to 1700 x 1700 before my RTX 3060ti would make 90 fps on my Vive Pro 2, yet it still looked full resolution.

As a New Orleans local, I have to applaud the devs dedication to realism on how New Orleans plumbing is put together and S&WB skill at just slapping random ♥♥♥♥ together and hoping it fixes a problem. All jokes aside, if you like the classic pipe dream type games, you'll like this.
