Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my initial impressions review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/dlDVuLz3Z4s This is a neutral recommendation. I think this MAY be a good puzzle game in the future when it's more refined, however, right now as is, it is too cumbersome to play in VR to enjoy the puzzles. The controls really take away all the fun that might have been from solving the puzzles. I only got to level 10 out of 22 levels, but so far most of the difficulty has been fighting the control design of the game. It's more of a physical exertion than a mental one. Some of the levels have timers of 15 minutes. I don't think it takes 15 minutes to solve the puzzles, but actually moving all the puzzle pieces with the current controls takes very long. It really does drain almost all the fun away. The fact that you can only teleport and snap turn also adds to this overall clunkiness. It's difficult at times to even view the whole puzzle, you may have to teleport from one side to another, back and forth several times. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting mostly 90 fps, but I did have some stutters and frame rate drops. I did not experience any serious issues or bugs. Game does auto save your progress. You can play this game seated, but it will make looking around the puzzle area more difficult. The issues with the controls is quite a shame. This may actually be a good puzzle game. There's several mechanics which add some depth. You're basically charging these orbs by adding colored balls of the same color to all 6 sides. Certain modifiers make that a challenge such as only being able to travel one way with the ball, only certain colors being able to pass through, or changing the color of the ball as it passes through. There's also a color gun that changes the color of the balls or a robotic arm that switches the charged orbs. However, I didn't have fun. Others may enjoy this puzzle game more than I did. I found the VR mechanics too cumbersome to enjoy the actual puzzles themselves. Rate 5/10.
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program. Was will man mehr? 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑

Follow Main group
Follow Second group
English: Plasmatic by EpicVR is a great old puzzle game in a new guise. Finally, the old Amiga hit Logical is also available in 3D and virtually paired with a story and in an environment reminiscent of Portal. What more could you want? We suddenly wake up from a kind of virtual utopia that society has supposedly voluntarily entered. An A.I. voice called Spirit enlightens us that we have to repair the main simulation core of Plasmatic, otherwise the continuation of our previous lives is at stake! Spirit accompanies us and makes increasingly dubious sayings. We should have our doubts about this A.I.'s honesty. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2840241222 Plasmatic immediately reminds us of Logical. Here, too, we mainly have to sink coloured balls into rotatable elements in order to get further. The elements in Plasmatic are the batteries of the simulation core, and in order to charge them, 6 energy balls of the same colour must always be sunk into the openings of the batteries. Unfortunately, it is not always easy to see when a battery has already been charged. The spherical batteries can be rotated in all directions and hang in a grid on which the energy balls can roll around. Of course, the grid structures become more and more complicated, more batteries have to be charged and there are obstacles and blockades to overcome on the tracks. In addition, time is always hanging around our necks. Fortunately, the playing time is generous, so that you can usually take your time to look around the room and get an overview of the track. We only move around the ball track ourselves by teleport and snapturn, anything else would be pointless. This way we can get everywhere we need to go quickly and comfortably. Unfortunately, I slid into walls from time to time. Operating the marble run is a completely different matter. The balls can all be conveniently moved from battery to battery by trigger and finger pointing. However, turning the spherical batteries in all axes is very difficult, especially at the beginning. The developers are working on improving this. It's not impossible, I've got to level 11 without any problems so far, but it takes a bit of practice to turn the ball from the wrist. And you shouldn't overdo it, ouch. Unlike in the original, it's not just turning in all directions, we also have tools at our disposal from time to time to help us sort the balls. A gravity gun, of course. With this we can distribute the balls to the batteries just like that, and a paintball gun, very practical... We are accompanied by nice electro music, which of course becomes more challenging towards the end of the time limit. Spirit's voice is easy to understand and is also shown as an English subtitle. Logical, I mean Plasmatic is a great little pastime for in between. Despite the unusual controls, puzzle fans can strike, fans of the classic as well also. 👀Balls in Balls on my curator page. 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑

Follow Main group
Follow Second group

Plasmatic is a paid VR game. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index and Meta Quest 3 via Steam Link system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. The control system is cumbersome, which makes the game harder than it looks. Has 27 steam achievements. Maybe buy this on sale, if you like puzzles, but try the Demo first. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. ViVE VR curator group
EDIT: After playing this some more, I'll recommend the game for now - but only if you're willing to spend some time learning the cumbersome controls. This game is very different from other VR games and may only apply to very experienced users. It's also an inexpensive game with nice graphics, and it can work well as a puzzle game. Choosing Ultra setting does not work but creates a black screen - and I'm using a RTX 3090 and i9 10900K (10 cores and 20 threads). Clearly devs never properly tested the ultra setting, lol. I'm using Valve Index - tried SteamVR res 300 - 500%, got nice 90 fps in res 300% and 400% (using High setting). The game supports finger tracking for the Index, but only Wands are show in the tutorial videos, which felt kinda odd. The game has images of the Index controllers on the some walls though. You only got teleport and snap turning, it would be nice with full locomotion and smooth turning too. At first I was unable to complete the tutorial due to frustrating controls, but giving it another shot,I did manage to complete the tutorial - kinda like learning to ride a bike ;-) This game may profit from more play-testing to find and even out the rough spots. Btw, when starting the tutorial I could not end/stop it - had to fully exit the entire game and restart it - that's very annoying. Always give users a button to be able to return to the main menu. In the start you can choose between "Tutorial" or "New Game" - but new game automatically starts the tutorial - please fix that - if I want to start a new game it means I do not want the tutorial - or I would have chosen the tutorial ;-) There seems to be a potentially great puzzle game hidden under some initially cumbersome controls, and clearly a lot of love went into the nice graphics, and you do get some Portal atmosphere. I do recommend trying the demo first, and of course you can play the game for 2 hours and refund if you don't like it. I've decided to keep it - it is very special. Btw, the game seems blurry - but res 400% makes it quite sharp - you may need to use extreme res to get rid of the blur. Devs should add full control over graphics settings, not just high, ultra etc. Let users decide to use TAA, MSAA etc. The game does not support native Oculus drivers, only Steam drivers - just tested my CV1 and SteamVR constantly started, so Oculus users may experience a performance hit, sadly. Would be great with support for native Oculus drivers.
*This Review Would Be Neutral If there Was An Option To Do So*

Sound 3/5 Not bad, nothing sensational, but not terrible. They seem to try a little too hard to make their "AI" be close to GLADDOS

Story 3/5 So far, it's okay. Interesting puzzles,

Graphics 3/5 Not bad, not great, things look alright, but there's not a whole lot of things to look at. A lot of panel walls and walls.

Controls 2/5 Twisting the puzzle balls is okay, but makes me feel like I have arthritis after playing it for a little while. It could definitely use a better way to twist and turn the balls.

Gameplay 3/5 Decent but repetitive puzzle game-play.

Overall 3/5 I'll play through it and re-update this, but so far it's okay, the scenery could use some work, the puzzles could use a bit more work, the controls could use a bit more work.

Summary: This would be neutral if I could make it so. At it's current state it's a puzzle game with basically no bells or whistles. It could use some better scenery, controls could use an update. I'll play through it and update this review when I've completely finished it. However at the moment If you want an okay puzzle game for VR. I'd wait for this to go on sale.
Watch my video review here: https://youtu.be/y5-68pFnZks Diving into Plasmatic VR feels like stepping into a cleverly crafted puzzle realm, inspired by Portal but with its unique spin. The game hooks you with an intriguing concept: using plasma balls to activate a series of batteries within a time limit. Each level ups the ante with tools like colorizers and sequencers, pushing you to strategize under pressure. The puzzles are engaging, demanding a mix of quick thinking and precise control. However, the real challenge lies not just in the puzzles themselves but in the physicality of the gameplay. Manipulating the batteries to receive the right color plasma balls requires a good deal of wrist action, which can be both immersive and taxing. Visually, the game strikes a pleasing note with vibrant colors and sleek design, though the environments could use more detail to fully immerse you in its world. The narrative voice, aiming for a Glados-like charm, adds a layer of humor but falls short in originality and execution. Final Verdict: Plasmatic VR stands out for its puzzle design and unique mechanics, offering a satisfying brain workout. Yet, it's worth noting the potential strain on your wrists - a factor that might limit your play sessions. Despite this, it's a solid pick for puzzle enthusiasts looking for something new in the VR space. Just remember to pace yourself, and maybe the devs will consider more ergonomic control options in future updates.
**NOTE:** This review is part of my steam curator review and is the extended version. Check my steam curator page at https://store.steampowered.com/curator/39607348-Random-Game-Reviews-by-Labprofess/ . Follow appreciated! — Before dwelling into this review, I quickly want to tap myself on the back for reviewing my first VR title. I also want to note that I played this in the HTC VIVE (the original black one, not later models). When I got the opportunity to review this game I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into, all I knew is that I couldn't wait to try it out, as from personal experience, games on VR are (usually) always good and worth it. This game is a blend of action and strategy that will certainly get you sweating, either with your movement or with its timed levels. I never played or hyped over portal but for some reason this game gives me portal vibes. You pass through various timed levels in which you turn 6 sided tubes to connect colors and charge batteries. What sounds easy and boring, is far from it! Totally unique game concept I haven't seen anywhere else, which obviously is way more exciting than its supposed to be due to being in VR. This game uses a blend of bright and soothing colors with do well on the eye for a long gaming session (as this is VR, eyes can and do still get tired). I was amazed with every aspect of this game starting from the tutorial which guided you step by step on how and what to do. This is followed by being immersed into the first level and being put to the test, so to speak. In this way the game also continues. In that sense, the game is repetitive to an extent with the exceptions of levels getting more difficult and creative but the overall idea of what to do stays the same. The VR movement is very smooth as well, as I haven't noticed any glitches, bugs, hands inside objects or other polygon errors one encounters in a lot of VR games. It really felt as if you were really there, inside of the white room turning tubes trying to charge batteries. Big props to that, lots of VR struggle with that, as one bug or imperfection can already bring you back to the real world. Lastly, the question of if I recommend this game or not, is clearly with a big yes. This game ranks on top of the best VR games I played, I was amazed by the game idea and how it turned out in practice. I have played a lot of games, VR and non VR where game ideas are similar if not the exact same. This doesnt ruin a game but it keeps the enjoyment it can give to a extent. However, with this game the concept I have never seen before. This already put a lasting impression on me. On top of that, this game runs perfectly smooth and is easy to get into. And lastly, you guessed it, its in VR! So go ahead and get this game, doesn't matter if you're new or already a long time user of VR.
Too many problems. The puzzles aren't interesting, and it is just too difficult to control turning the spheres.
