One of the jankiest first person puzzlers I have ever played. You can't even change the resolution, unresponsive controls, some of the "puzzles" seem to be entirely trial and error type. It looks and feels like total junk. A note to achievement hunters: while achievement count for the game itself does increment, the global count (your total achievements across all games) does not.
I like it. The music is very catchy. I do a lot of production work on my computer, and this is a great game to take a break and distract myself with. I feel it's certainly worth the money. It reminds me of old school games. Levels are inheritly dark, and you must light your way to the end.
...got photonic distress recommended by a friend, usually I am not very easy to convice from independend published games...glad I gave this game a chance !! Really like the oppressive mood and dense atmosphere. Plot and gameplay are extraordinary. Graphics are not necessarily the main topic of the game, though they arent that importat, as most of the pathways in your subconsious mind are dominated by the black abysses beside it. Shooting photons at your environment to highlight it is really a nice idea and effect. The music is catchy and smooth, won't take long for you to get in a flow with the music and your photon gun !... I recommend to play it without any light in your room to increase the feeling of the game. Result: Fun game - love gameplay and plot and...finally really like the idea of playing a shooter for puzzeling !
This game is addictive. I keep telling myself one more level, one more. I love the atmosphere between the lighting, the music, and the terrain. Already seeing a difference playing some easy/hard modes, so I'm looking forward to the replay value, as well.
Game made by small studio.I am not fan of games in this styles but you have to give the chance for this game :)
Wow, what a highly detailed game from a small team. Great job guys! Disclaimer: One of the talented developers gave a fellow livestreamer (sheepfuzz on twitch) a key to this game, and she gave the key to myself. I then played it until the end on stream on easy. That's how I got the game for free, I wasn't paid to review it or to play it. For a more serious critique style review: Let's start off with the cons. There are bugs in the game, and jumping around can be a bit jittery. This game is not open world by any means and is quite linear, however, after playing it, I'd say that's a pro. Especially for the harder difficulties where you have less ammo and each shot takes more ammo. Pros: This game is absolutely beautiful! Especially after you've been in darkness for minutes at a time and you finally find some lighted areas. From a small team, I'd say that the textures are AAA in quality, there is detail everywhere. I thought I might spot the ceiling without any detail, but no. Even the ceiling has the right amount of detail. Gameplay is solid and the dark portions of the game are really dark! Typically I'm able to set my monitor to "game" mode, which will turn up the contrast and allow me to see dark areas. No dice with this game, it's still dark! The developers were also kind enough to add random level generation with a customizable seed, for those that are looking for a challenge and replayability. If you're interested in seeing before playing, I streamed the game and exported the video to Youtube. Note: I do complete the game, so if you are only interested in a short sample, I'd recommend only watching the first few minutes for minimal spoilers. Or you could drop the playback bar into the center. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZWPE2ZDwWg
cooles Spiel für zwischendurch.
I got this game for streaming from Gamefluencer, I had seen another streamer playing it earlier in the day and immediately the graphics in the game stood out to me. As I watched the other streamer play it, it seemed like it had some interesting features and mechanics. When I started the game for myself, it was clear that it was the initial game released by a new developer, however this wasn’t a bad thing. It has some minor issues like not being able to change resolution and a few minor bugs in the actual game. As soon as I got into the game, it became very clear that the developers have really put every possible effort into this game and more than make up for the few bugs I did find. The artwork stood out to me as something that’s well done, then the music started…and the combination of these elements of the game made for a great atmosphere to play in. The puzzles were competitive and challenging if not a little repetitive – they’re randomly generated levels so the developers have done their best to make a solid set of components to make up each level. The way you move around in the game is good – it’s missing one mechanic to make it great such as maybe a sprint to help break up the same movement speed in the game, however overall, I had a blast with the game. If you want the most out of this game, skip the easiest difficulty and go for something slightly harder. You may also want to set some challenges for yourself as you work through the game – I challenged myself to catch the balls of light that are used to help light up the play area. I didn’t find the game buggy - it is in that perfect state between polished and unpolished. There is the possibility to explore and approach the game in your own way instead of following the obvious path designed to be used to overcome the obstacles in the game. You can no doubt break the game if it’s your sole intention, but I enjoyed being able to approach things creatively and try different things for myself. This is the type of game that I would overlook when looking on Steam for something new to play, and had I done so, I would have massively missed out on something that I really enjoyed. I got about 5 hours of gameplay out of the game and given the price, it’s well worth it in my opinion. You will find yourself wanting to complete the game and wanting to challenge yourself and find the hidden pizza box. Graphics: 8/10 Gameplay: 7/10 Music: 10/10 Challenge: 7/10
I was a little bit overstrained by the home base you have. Where to go to get your ammo, where to go for the next lvl, but 10 minutes later I got to know where to go. (Green room ;)) I think the idea of Photonic Distress is a good starter. But there could be some more riddles. or in the later lvls more ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up ways. The difficulty in the lvls is not always obvious. There could be a more increase of difficulty. All in all it's very funny playing it. More than ever if you are a little bit wasted. I can imagine a multiplayer version where you have to take time runs with your team or against an enemy team, sort of capture the flag, to increase the drama. Good Game, keep it up!
ich mag die lichteffekte. bin leider noch nicht durch, aber alles in allem wirkt es soldie. gerne wieder.
