Key to success is to have good manufacturing lines to prive your ever growing colonie with all it needs. On top of that there is terraforming mars into an earth like planet that allows colonists to live a self sustained life. I've only got to teraformng phase 3 so far which includes rising oceans due to poles melting and climbing tempratures aswell as Oxigen production. It's a very wll made game with hundeds of hours of playtime to sink into. A narrative story and challangeing missions to guide you into the right direction are also part of Per Aspera.

Absolutely beautiful and makes the basics of terraforming simple to understand for anyone who's never even thought about it before.

I bought this game because I love playing the boardgame terraforming mars. I first did a sandbox run on per Aspera then the campain. I must say the story telling is a bit shaky and I find the story not really in relation with the terraforming project but it was decent nonetheless. As for the terraforming damn I love it, when the ice starts to melt and the water rises, when you plant your first plants ! Turning this redball into a blue and green one is a pleasure to the eye. The ressources are finite nodes so you do need to be in a nonendind expension but that said, I finished the last quest with maybe less than a quarter than what the planet offers. The different view filters will help you manage everything, especially the traffic view to see where more workers are needed. I played many terraforming games, this is by far the most satisfying one.

This is a fun colony sim/city builder. It slows down significantly when you get the actual terraforming part though. If you're not careful you can easily flood the areas you've built on and runaway oxygen production is catastrophic. Careful planning is an obvious solution here but your first time through is likely blind and you'll make a lot of mistakes. You're also not warned about ice reserves melting when the planet goes above zero degrees C. Again, in hindsight it's obvious but it's a game so you're not thinking it can even happen at all until it does.
