From Obsidian, this game is a historical narrative-driven game focusing on character development, heavily stylized art, and choice-driven storytelling in early 16th century Bavaria. Players will play as Andreas Maler, a clever illustrator caught up in a series of murders in Tassing and Kiersau Abbey over the course of twenty five years. Players will be responsible for conducting their own investigation to decide the fate of the community, but each decision will have lasting consequences and inexorably draws Andreas closer to the center of an underlying conspiracy.

Writing and visuals are beautiful. It's an interactive novel with fair little gameplay elements. I wish that was more apparent up front, but it is still worth your time.

A great story, The less you know going in the better. The art style is great, the gameplay is fun and the game doesn't overstay it's welcome. I highly recommend this game if it looks at all interesting to you.

Absolutely delightful!! There's so much heart put into this game and it really shows in every aspect from the writing to the art and animations. This game has a lot of the draw of a good book, and I went in fairly blind and absolutely could not put it down until I finished it. I annoyed my friends with it and almost talked to my dentist about it because I was just absolutely engrossed in the world until I realized I needed to beat it for my own sanity and ability to focus on other things. The main draw of the game is definitely the gorgeous, well researched illuminated manuscript style art, and it's paired with a story and characters I found startlingly thoughtfully written as well. It's not an absolute mindblowing masterpiece or an overwhelmingly deep discussion on any of its topics, as a disclaimer, so don't go in thinking you'll be exceptionally changed by the end, but it is Fun to read!! My main qualm with the game is something I saw a few other reviewers say, which is that there is a Lot of backtracking and running back and forth to try to get events that Don't make the in-game time pass, and I feel like that could be streamlined, especially if you're trying for whatever you might consider to be the Best Ending. It's hard to guess what actions will do what, and I felt like I had to accept that early on to enjoy the game, but I think it will be a while before I try to play through again. I'd suggest going in thinking of this as a little historical choose-your-own-adventure mystery book, and accept that bad things are going to happen and you won't be able to stop or predict them all.
Well written and engrossing adventure game. A lot of back and forth run here run there BUT ... the story, the evolving town and the culmination of your choices make it all very much worth it. Some really sad moments, some great music and a hefty dose of history make this a fine game!
