Product is a fantastic 2D mapmaker, but a lack of 3D export means that this is not a true 3D map-making tool. The Dungeon Alchemist sales-pitch is that this product is an "easy mode" for Dungeon Masters that want to present Foundry VTT/other VTT-compatible tools to their players. Creating automatic lighting and walls for Foundry is impressive, but the tool falls flat where it matters. You tell me I'm going to get a 3D map-maker, then I should get a 3D map-maker. This is, instead, a 2D map-maker with a 3D interface. If this product ever receives true 3D map-making functionality then it will be worth a positive review. Until then it offloads a significant percentage of the labor to the end-user that it should not.
Crashes all the time, it is virtually impossible to export anything. If by any chance the export succeeds, it takes 2 and a half days to complete, and the quality is borderline unusable. If you set the settings higher, it just crashes or throws an *Export Failed* without any explanation. Also, forget bigger maps! Even with moderate map sizes it's lagging out so hard, It is hard to justify the pricing. I get it is in early access, that does NOT mean it's okay to take this much money from people for a tool that's barely working, IF at all. If you're looking into getting a map making tool like this, consider HAAAARD PASS-ing on this one. It is NOT worth the price just yet.
Not very artistic, but this software gives me nicer maps than I can get with other packages.
The integration with FoundryVTT is awesome. Workshop content is great.
Great tool, easy to use
I hope they fix this. I can't open the program, it's frozen in the loading screen.
This is excellent map making software, best i've used
E de fato um programa excelente que agiliza muito a criação de mapas para rpg. Usei tanto para o presencial quanto no digital e ele serve muito bem para ambos.
I really like it - the procedural generation is great, the asset library is immense and the usage is as easy and intuitive as it gets. But I have to give a thumbs up because of two things: 1) It crashes. After about an hour or two it crashes. No CPU or GPU usage or temperature indication anymore, the tool just freezes. There are also things that are simply impossible to do like click on the eye symbol on a creature. I do not kow what the button does other than crash the software - that's sad. 2) Autosave does not work. I have autosave set to five minutes and it doesn't do anything. That combined with the frequent crashes means I have to repetitively re-create work when I failed to hit save every couple minutes. It's just frustrating.
It constantly loves to crash on me.
