This game is full of bugs and has, at least one, broken main quest line chain. I bought this game through the kickstart campaign if that matters to those reading. Overall Lack of Quality; I have a link to screenshots of some examples in the discussions section of the game’s community. As far as I can tell every single map I’ve been to, except for the police station the main floor of the college and one floor in the “haunted” apartment, has some combination of graphical, layering, or wall errors. This includes the MC room where you can’t move around anyway. Some items given to be used as equipment can’t be equipped by anyone. Some of these wall errors are so bad they let you skip scripted fights. The UI for the item descriptions when buying stuff covers how much money you have. The icons in the menu, status, and combat don’t line up with the actual UI size for the menu. Heads are off screen, hard edges are on images because they aren’t aligned so you just see a cut across their arm, or even the right costumes don’t show up when you’ve bought them. When you lose a fight in full screen the game flashes, goes back to a small window to load, flashes again, and goes back to full screen then takes you to the main menu. At least two quest chains are broken, though I wonder if more are, with one of them being part of the main line quest. All of these issues show up so early I didn’t even have the 4th party member yet. I have the rest of the game to go through and I’ve hit this many bugs already. (I did check to see if the item that would not equipped to anyone was for her. It wasn’t it still can’t be equipped.) I brought the very first kickstart comic run of this IP and this is how far its fallen? I have no clue if MOC just doesn’t care about their IP anymore and gives it to anyone or if DDreams Games just saw this as a meaningless cash opportunity and half heartedly worked on it. Given how the art is nice and on the Kickstarter side of things everything was punctual my guess is the fault is on DDreams Games. For anyone looking for a developer for their IP if you work with these guys this is the quality you are going to get. I certainly won’t be buying anything from MOC on kickstarter anymore until they prove this isn’t the kind of low quality mess their IP is going to be known for in the future. Oh, and as one small side note it is cannon in this game that the divinely powered MC can be beaten in a fight by unpowered homeless guys in fights because they use “special homeless man street fighting rules.” Ya that was a great idea to wreck the in-world power scaling of your characters because of haha funny quick time event.
Just finished it. Revamping my review. Leaving my review as a thumbs-up, but with some pretty big caveats. First, this game is pretty rough, as in unpolished. There's too many places to count where collision walls are either missing or where you wouldn't expect them, making moving around a chore. You wouldn't expect a game based on super heroines to be an RPG, but that's fine. It almost felt more like an adventure game than an RPG at times. A lot of the side-quests require you to find random items and bring them to certain people. The combat and character abilities have reasonable depth. There's plenty of side-quests and such to keep it fresh. It took me about 12 hours to complete, mostly on easy mode. (I was impatient) It's more of a "Mount Olympus Comics" game in general than sticking simply to Patriotika, which isn't a bad thing, just an observation. Overall, I enjoyed it, but I am previously familiar with the Patriotika comics. I doubt this game will appeal to a new-comer. The many glitches would not leave a good impression. Old review after about an hour: Not far into it yet, but seems reasonably competent so far. I still need to see how the different companions abilities synergize, but it seems promising.
[strike] Mommy? Sorry. Mommy? Sorry. I mean. Mommy? Sorry [/strike] Patriotika is s modern RPG with a large cast of colorful and interesting characters. Definitely worth a try!
Finished the game last night. I'm a kickstarter backer and fan of Mount Olympus Comics since 2018. It's a fun light rpg with side quests and adjustable challenge levels.
Its a pretty cool JRPG, needs better controller support and wish it had ultrawide.
Hooray for Patriotika! I liked the concept of the game and put it on my wishlist as soon as I discovered it. I enthusiastically did a full playthrough and found it to be a great comic story. Everything worked smoothly with the exception of a couple of bugs which seem to have been taken care of since I started a new playthrough. Anyone who loves the comic superheroine genre should get this game! I hope to see more content for Patriotika and/or sequels!
I am thankful these guys remember what makes Superhero adventures fun. Even with the opening I already got to fight crazy shadows and ninjas. I am expecting space pirates and dinosaurs at some point. I like Patriotika's move sets so far. + she's an inspirational setup rather than a deconstructionist bent that so many cape settings take nowadays. It's a breath of fresh air and I hope more indie devs make more turn-based rpgs/jrpgs for Supers. They are made for this sorta combat system. Even though it says Controller not supported? I am playing it with my Xbox controller anyways. It doesn't have the button prompts for a controller but after a few minutes, I got used to the mapping regardless.
Every character has its own gimmick! Good game and art for the price.
