There's no real gameplay here. It looks like a JRPG, but the characters are incredibly limited, there's no XP, no equipment, no treasure, no customization of any kind. It's really a puzzle game disguised as a JRPG, and one with no replay value. I didn't even bother to finish it.
thumbs way up!! cute 8 color gay sentai that challenges you to pick the right girls for the job!! defeat kaiju and unlock more new moves to try new strats! play bosses in any order, megaman-style

#readme
8-Colors Star Guardians is what you'd get if Power Rangers were reimagined by queer indie devs between therapy sessions as a pixelated, pastel-colored love letter to Saturday morning cartoons riddled with sapphic longing. Turn-based combat is all right, but can get repetitive, and writing swings between endearingly-earnest and painfully-corny - but it’s hard not to admire the sheer vibes: the fire soundtrack, the cheesy character arcs... It's like watching a high school stage play of Sailor Moon that somehow makes you tear up. Not-quite-great, but worth your time if you're up for something scrappy and weird.
8 color star guardians is a fun, if at times frustrating, turn based puzzle with simple graphics, fun dialogue and an entertaining story. The story is pretty simple. Eight monsters are attacking at once and the star guardians have to divide their forces to manage the chaos and find the source of it all. You fight OP bosses in a specific order you have to figure out to acquire new powers and defeat all your enemies. The characters are interesting with their own unique personalities. The world building, while minimal, is there and adds to the feeling that the characters exist before and after your short time with them. The character design, especially the monster design, is great even though its limited to eight colors. The little sprite movements and alternate costumes inject a lot of personality. The music and costumes feels like knock off power rangers but thats part of the reason why I'm here. My one complaint is that I wish the story mode were longer. It features two chapters that took me about 3-4 hours. There's also an arcade mode that can definitely offer a few more hours of enjoyment if you're into that kind of thing.
Super fun game! Easy to learn, but with quite complex strategies to master. And the plot is clever and funny. I was planning to give it a quick look, only to realise I couldn't put it down before finishing both stories. It might frustrate you a bit at some levels, but, if you get the hang of it, you will have an enjoyable time.
Lobotomy Power Rangers Actual Peak (please blow up and make more games)
Pretty good turn based battling game. Sort of an rpg, but not really there's no levelling up or gear, although you do learn new techniques when you defeat a boss (well the first 8 at least, sometimes some of the others). Power Rangers but more magical girl, a story that isn't final fantasy 7 levels of deep but enjoyable and more than just an excuse plot. No dungeons, no trash mobs, just bosses. Short but long enough to justify the price especially on sale (episode 1 is not even half the game, check the menu for episode 2 when you think you've beaten the game. Give the achievements a bunch of peopl haven't though of this). The first few boss fights of ep 2 are lazy but they do get more interesting. My time includes beating both episode 1 or 2, though it would probably be slightly shorted if my dog didnt keep pestering me and I didn't stay up till 3am. Then again the fact I beat this game in 2 days says good things about it
This game is just fun to play, have to say the story line was funny to read, boss battles where a challenge to figure out also. If you are looking for a nice retro style game to play, then this game is yours to try out.
