this is a really fun game
Old school classic, good i you are into such things
gooood!!!!
My impressions video of the collection: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jy2rDB_QYrE Really, your best bet if you want to play these games is to grab the whole collection as it's by far the better value, so that's what I'm talking about here. Toaplan is well known among the shmup community. Despite their relatively short life as a developer, they cranked out some of the best shmups of their time and despite helping creating one of the OG memes with "All your base are belong to us.", their games stand up well on their own merits. It's great to see Bitwave finally bringing some of these classics to an easily playable format on PC. The collection brings a ton of excellent quality of life improvements, including save states, online leaderboards, stat views, rewinding, assists and a practice mode, a ton of video options and even the ability to select different regions for each of the games. Sadly, there's no online co-op, but with Steams Remote Play feature, you can easily do it yourself and I can confirm it works well. While this isn't as technically impressive as some collections by M2 and the like, this is a very well put together package that has many of the extra features enthusiasts or those wanting to practice for competitions would want. Each of these games are unique in what they offer. Three are vertical and Zero Wing is horizontal, All but one are air combat based, while Out Zone involves controlling ground units, more akin to Akari Warriors or Jackal. They were all originally arcade games so as expected, they're challenging, but reward practice and persistence. With unlimited credits, you can see your way to the end of these in less than an hour each, but the real appeal of shmups is learning the levels and enemies and trying to get the best score, while chasing the elusive 1 Credit Clear. If you're one of those types of players, you will get many hours out of this package. Personally, I can't tell any difference between these versions and playing them in MAME so I think enthusiasts who want as close to the original experience as possible will be satisfied with this. The shmup genre has had a bit of a rekindling on PC in the last few years and it's great to see some classics from one of the genre's legendary developers finally coming out here and with a bunch of enhancements to boot. Those who love shmups and want to play some of the greatest ones should definitely grab this.
Toaplan is pretty well known for difficult yet incredibly fun arcade games. Particularly shoot 'em ups. Out Zone is no exception save it is a run-n-gun. Even then, it has a lot of Toaplan's shooter DNA in it. I was blown away in just my first couple games of Out Zone. I enjoy games like Commando, Ikari Warriors, Gun.Smoke and Shock Troopers. Out Zone is right up there with these games. With the exception of Shock Troopers, I think I like Out Zone more. The game mechanics of Out Zone are you have a gun and limited screen clearing bombs. The gun can receive upgrades in both type and power. The two most common being a machine gun and forward facing spread shot. However, there are additional super upgrades such as a squadron of drones, a shield, and a flame thrower type weapon. My favorite was the super ball which spins around your character delivering devastating damage. There's also speed increasing pick ups too. To keep the player moving, their character has an energy meter that slowly ticks down. This can be replenished by collecting E pick ups through out the level. And the player is going to have to get a few of these to make it to the end of level boss with enough time to defeat it. Afterward, the player's energy bar is refilled for the next level. The levels themselves feel pretty short. Though, that could because I was having such a blast playing as well as almost speed running through them. As once I was in the zone, I felt nearly unstoppable. The game also feels pretty generous with extends, but being a Toaplan game, the game features check points instead of respawns. Which I don't know if that is such a bad thing as if often sends the player back to a place to re-arm a little bit. Though, it still can take a little while to recover to getting back to fully powered up. The end of level bosses didn't feel as difficult to me as the Toaplan shooters I've played. To be sure, they're no cakewalk and made all the more difficult if you don't have many upgrades. Which it can be your energy meter that proves more difficult than the boss itself if you aren't aggressive. It's rare that I like a game, even arcade games, so quickly. Yet, I really had a lot of fun with my limited play time with Out Zone. When I think Taoplan, I think Truxton. Which is fun, but it's also not very high on my list of favorite shmups. I think Out Zone is likely to be my favorite Taoplan game ever. And at this point, I've played a fair amount of their catalog.
çocukluğumda atari salonlarında severek oynadığım tek oyundur kendisi. çoğu kişi kof falan takılırken ben bunu oynardım. burda yakalayınca anılar canlandı. Müziklerini çok beğeniyorum. özellikle 3. bosstan sonra 4. bölümün müziği acayip hoşuma gidiyor.
outzone is the best toaplan game
Guy on the cover is kinda hot. That aside I really liked this one. Good arcade fun with features for people like me who suck at games!
